FROM CHILD TO WOMAN
The timid child
So quiet and shy
Longing to be wild
Wishing she could fly
Eager to learn
Like a young bird
ready to spread her wings
Her heart does yearn
to soar like an eagle
able to see everything
Time marches on
The child now grown
A woman with style
One well known
Well educated, well travelled
A woman of success
But her heart broken, unravelled
By a churl no less
The woman now alone
Her heart hardened like a stone
