SECRETS

Secrets hidden in a private place
So close but yet unreachable from prying eyes
Secrets locked away in a piece of my soul
A dark, minute space filled with deceit and lies

I face the world with a smile
giving the appearance of contentment
As you hurt me all the while
building up inside me is resentment

I feel justification for my secret life
And not an inkling are you aware
No one knows of our private strife
But do you really care?

I am alone more than I care to be
while you run around feeding your aging vanity
never once giving thought to me
Silent anger slowly eroding my sanity
