SMOOTH AS SATIN

Smooth as satin you were
When I first met you long ago
Caressing my soul with your silky voice
hypnotizing me into loving you so

As time went by, your satin sheen was gone
soon became like abrasive wool
You took me for granted, often left me alone
Our relationship began to lull

I cried at first and then anger set in
I realized I didn't need you anymore
I opened my eyes and began to see
you were like a blanket that was tattered and worn

I could no longer count on you
for the loving warmth you used to give
So I have moved on
in pain, but I will live
