He looks worn and battered
from the physical abuse
that he'd inflicted on himself
through years of illegal drug use
He became hooked in his early teens
Had to have it by any means
His addiction was his greatest flaw
He was in constant trouble with the law
Each year he got older
but never got wise
You could never trust him
He told constant lies
He stole from his parents
Also from his friends
The self-abuse continued
We wondered if it would ever end
He had many women
Fathered many a child
He lived fast and loose
He lived wild
One day he met a woman
who herself had gone through drug abuse
But she was an only child
Her loving parents helped her cut it loose
Through prayer and constant faith
she was able to become clean and straight
And in him she could see
he just needed a lot of patience and TLC
She was like an angel
Guiding him in the Lord's care
taking him to church
And helping him through prayer
Her faith and hard work
And her woman's intuition
has finally borne her
a very happy fruition
They have joined together
as man and wife
And now are sharing
A good and straightforward life
It's been six years now
Together they spread the power of prayer
to those who are unfortunate
and need reassurance the Lord does care
