THE BUCK MOUNTAIN PROJECT

Here you can see and hear the images and sounds from around Buck Mountain from October 23, 1999.  On that day my brother-in-law joined me on a journey to Buck Mountain.  What was supposed to be a full half a day of filming turned into a strange day.  Everytime we went to tape something, I had nothing to say or do.  The last straw were the no tresspassing signs all over the mountain.  After a failed attempt at contacting the land owners, I had to admit defeat, until I saw the footage I did manage to shoot.  It made great still frame images, and when I had twenty minutes alone with the video camera, I did open up and talk.  Take a look at these pictures and comments.  If you do not hear me talking, go to the bottom of this page and follow the instructions on how to listen to the MP3 audio clip.

Driving west on Interstate 40.  Straight ahead is the real Buck Mountain.  While in college, we called the whole range Buck Mountain, according to maps, only the finger visible here carries that name.

Here is a view of the antennea from the former Howard Johnson's parking lot south of the intersection of Interstate 40 and US 70N to the east of Cookeville.

This is a historical marker located in downtown Cookeville.  According to the text, there has been rail road tracks over the mountain for over a century.

This is a historical marker to the west of the location of the "Return to Buck Mountain" story.

This is a historical marker to the east of the location of the "Return to Buck Mountain" story within the city limits of Monterey.  I have yet to find the standing stone spoken of in the text.

These are the old tomb stones in the Witch's Cemetray.  Notice in this and the other pictures the roof like structures over the burial sites.

The story is if you touch the indention in the middle of the pentagram at midnight, you will summon a storm.  One night near midnight I tried.  We were fairly freaked out when a small wind did blow up.  The name is obsecured to respect the departed.

This place looks friendly during the day time.  Picture this place in the moonlight at night!

It is impossible to tell, but under all the grass are the rail road track that we walked down in the "Return to Buck Mountian" story.  I did not walk down this section due to the numerous no tresspassing signs.

The road now has a hard surface.  Nine years ago it was still a dust gravel road.

In the top-middle of the picture you can see the hidden statalite dish.  It is either a dish used by our government for secret experiments going on the mountain or a dish used to pull down the network feed for the local PBS station.  You be the judge.

View of the new Crazy George Bridge looking west.

Closeup view of the New Crazy George Bridge.  Notice the tire marks on the bridge.  These are obviously left by vechicles leaving in a hurry after seeing Crazy George!  This is a westward view.  Notice my truck parked on the side of the road.

A view of the New Crazy George Bridge from the south next to the rail road cut.

Standing on the New Crazy George Bridge looking southward at the rail road cut.  Under all the overgrown vegitation, there are still rail road tracks.

There are more pictures to show, but they have yet to be scanned.  Check back someday and I may have them ready.
