Welcome to the TARDIS Console Simulator Program page. This is where
you can download the soon to be famous simulator. What, you may ask,
is a TARDIS Console Simulator Program? Well, it is a simulation of
the prop used in the Doctor Who Television series from 1963 to 1969 and into
1970. The way this was accomplished was to take drawings, photographs,
and actual existing video tape from that time period of the show and attempt
to write a program to simulate the six panels of the console. The program
you can download is the continuing result of research, artistry, and programming
ability.
The program began life in 1997 as a 16 bit Windows 3.1 program. It was unstable and didn't really do very much. At that time I knew little about Windows programming, and the program showed as much. Then in late in 1998, I dusted off the source code and converted it to a 32 bit Windows program. I fixed the existing controls to function better and use less memory.
The current version is quite stable on Windows 95 and Window NT 4.0. I am sure it can work fine under higher versions. It runs a little slow on a 66 mHz 486 under Window's 95, but purrs when used on a 200 mHz Pentium using Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0. This program is by no means completed. Many controls have not been completed due to lack of good pictures and lack of programming ability. The cost of this program is free. I could be talked into selling the source code... Since this is a freeware program, there is little to no support for it. There is not much that can go wrong with it. I retain all rights to this program, assuming the design of it does not infringe on anyone's copyrights.
