Rebiccola's World of Insanity

[welcome]

"Insanity does not come from the world around us but from the brain we wish we had!" -Robin Pearson
I like Robin's quote, but here is what I'd like to add:

[things]

Perkins Observatory
I volunteered at Perkins Observatory almost every Friday and Saturday night for over four years. I was not an astronomy major (Otterbein does not offer it) but enjoy looking up at the stars. PERKINS NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!! It is my second home and I don't want to loose it! Please hit the Perkins page to find out how you can help! And don't forget to attend a Friday or Saturday night Public Program!
The Columbus Astronomical Society
Shortly after I began going to Perkins, I joined the CAS. We meet the second Saturday of the month at Perkins, and do other cool stuff. These are the wonderful people who teach me the wonders of the universe. CAS members provide astronomical services to Perkins and the community.
Otterbein College
I HAVE GRADUATED!!! And I don't recommend Otterbein. However, it wasn't all bad. They do have a good Mathematical Sciences Department and working at the Weitkamp Observatory was lots of fun. I do recommend stopping by the observatory some time when it is open. You can find out how to visit by hitting the web-page.
The Air Force Institute of Technology
I HAVE GRADUATED!!! Yep, that's right! I now have a master's degree in applied mathematics from The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). AFIT is located on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio. I attended AFIT as a civilian, with a full tuition scholarship from DAGSI and a research assistantship position. How cool is that?
The United States Census Bureau
Now that I have a nifty master's degree in mathematics, I thought I had better put it to good use. So I am a Mathematical Statistician for the Bureau of the Census. I have been here a month, and it seems like a great place to work. The Census Bureau is located in Suitland, Maryland, which is basically a suburb of Washington, DC. I live in Alexandria, Virginia (another suburb), and enjoy an hour metro-rail trip from Virginia to DC to Maryland every day to get to work.
My Family
I love my family. Sometimes that is hard to believe, but I do. My brother is now in pilot training for the Air Force. In his spare time he competes in marathons and triathlons! My mom and dad are pretty cool. They may seem strict compared to some parents, but without them, I wouldn't be nearly as insane as I am!! I can't really go into extended family... there are JUST TOO MANY OF THEM!!! But they contribute to my insanity as well!
