Jerry Fletcher, Mel Gibson, is a paranoid NY city cab driver with some very interesting conspiracy theories. He tells all of these wild ideas to the people lucky enough to get into his cab. Jerry's grasp on reality is maintained through his interactions with Alice Sutton, Julia Roberts, a Justice Dept. employee. Alice tolerates Jerry's rantings and ravings because he saved her from would be muggers. Jerry's ideas seem harmless until Dr. Jonas, Patrick Stewart, takes an interest at which point Jerry becomes a wanted man. This is a well rounded movie, it has action, comedy, and romance. There are many twist and turns you have to navigate to reach the end, you're never 100% sure of what's going on. Gibson was very funny and did well in the action scenes. If more time had been spent on the actual theories it would have been better. Overall it is an entertaining movie.
