When I heard that The Game was from the same director as Seven I was worried because I hated Seven, at least the last half of it. Any way I was suprised and delighted with The Game. It is Nicholas Van Orton's, Michael Douglas, 48 birthday. He's the same age as his father was when he swan dived off the roof of the family mansion. Nick is a scruge-like businessman who apparently has it all. His less than perfect brother Conrad, Sean Penn, gives him a gift certificate to Consumer Recreation Services, who's specialty it is to provide what ever is lacking. As soon as Nick follows up on the gift he starts getting screwed with, starting with the news anchor on CNN talking directly to him. From there game gets bigger and more extreme, to the point where Nick does not know what is real and what is the game. The only problem with The Game, besides being completly implausible, is the some what quick wrap-up feeling the ending has. Other than that this is a great movie and possibly Douglas' best work.
