Sam Lombardo (Matt Dillon) is an award winning teacher so when Kelly Van Ryan (Denise Richards), an attractive female student, accuses him of rape it causes quite a commotion. The situation gets worse when we learn that Lombardo and Kelly's mother, Sandra (Theresa Russell), were lovers and that she is one of the most powerful people in Blue Bay and wants to destroy him. Ray Duquette (Kevin Bacon) and Gloria Perez (Daphne Rubin-Vega) are assigned to the case and turn up some more bad news for Lombardo. Appearently he also raped Suzie Toller (Neve Campbell), a student who lives in a trailer in the poor section of Blue Bay. Lombardo's only hope is Ken Bowden (Bill Murray), supposedly the only lawyer in town willing to take on the Van Ryans.
Wild Things is one of the most convoluted movies I have seen. The setup takes about 45 minutes and the rest of the time is spent winding towards an ending that is never apparent. Hell they are still explaining the movie as the closing credits are rolling past in flash backs that show what went on behind closed doors. All involved gave good performances but Richards and Murray were even better. Richards was quite convincing as Kelly the spoiled rich girl who is used to getting what she wants. Murray was perfect as the shady lawyer who when we first meet is wearing a neck brace in order to scam an insurance company. This film is worth seeing just to watch Murray in action. Wild Things is a well done movie that will keep you guessing until the end.
