Birdie’s Fan Fiction Contest

Category Number Two

<------- Xander the Wizard     Now, everyone say hi to Xander the Wizard, and he shall grant you three wishes. If you're not nice to him, he will smite you!!!! Mwuhahahahahaahahahahha

Yup, that's right. I've got a Fan Fic Contest. Every so often I'll be changing the topic from which I'll ask all stories be written in that are to be submitted. I will ask that you not send any stories that are excessively long, say thirty or more pages or fifteen web pages. I will ask that there not be excessive language or graphic wording (mostly related to sex but can be expanded to beatings if the passage is too graphic for the general public). Submitting any stories containing either of these instances is grounds for disqualification.

The Topic:

I’ve decided to open the topic to all of Greater New York City for this contest. You can enter stories from every borough except Manhattan. Since the last contest was about Manhattan, I’d prefer if you didn’t submit stories about the Manhattan newsies. You can enter stories that have cameos of them, but I’d rather they not take place in Manhattan. This means that you can enter stories about Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island (formally Richmond Island but not changed to Staten until the 1960’s, I believe). Since Harlem, Midtown, Uptown, Downtown, the East Side, and every variation of any of these are all on the island of Manhattan, you can’t enter stories about them. If you’re debating whether or not your story falls under the category, please email me and ask if it works or not.

The Awards:

  • Best Male from the Movie
  • Best Original Male
  • Best Female
  • Best Plot
  • Most Probable Story line
  • Best Show (this means how the story is presented)
  • Best Movie Character
  • Best Villain
  • Overall Best Story
  • Best Parody/Funniest Story (probably the one that makes me laugh most. I don't mean it as an insult, just that your story is kind of funny)
  • Best Background Story (explains the background of a particular newsie)
  • Best Spelling and Grammar

I reserve the right to make up any categories other than these if I see fit. Of course, with some topics, some of these categories may not fit, but it's what I came up with. There will be at least two awards, first and second place, for each category, more depending on how many entries there are.

The OFFICIAL Rules:

  • Original Work (no explanation needed here)
  • Keep the graphic language and wording to a minimal. Remember, there are minors who love the movie, too.
  • Keep to the topic specified.
  • By sending me the story, you give me the right to either link to it on my page or put it up on my page if it is not already up on the web.
  • Please proofread your work before you submit your story. This includes spelling checks and grammar checks. If you send me your story as an attachment to an email, I will fix any spelling or grammatical errors in the text, not the dialogue. If you do not wish this, please specify that you do not wish it.

If you disagree with any of these rules, please do not submit your story. If you send me your story, you have agreed to my rules.

I'll keep the entries up of all the past contests, once I have more than one topic, that is. You'll be able to read all the stories from the past entries if you so desire.
