The ship set sail on a beautiful Saturday morning from Florida. The weather was perfect. We knew right away this was going to be a great vacation. Maybe even better than last year's cruise when we shot The Case Of The Mystery Cruise. On this cruise we didn't make any videos or movies, we just had fun.
As soon as we boarded we checked into our rooms, unpacked our bags and decided to explore the place that would be our home away from home for the next seven days. The ship was like a floating city. We found lots of cool places and things using the detective skills we've been honing the past couple of years.
Before the ship left the harbor we had to go to a safety drill. We learned all about what to do in case there was an emergency. Everything was really interesting and we got to wear these big orange life jackets. Some of them were even bigger than us.
When it was time to set sail, we got to visit the navigation room and talk to the captain. The navigation room was at the very top of the ship. You can see everything from there, which comes in pretty handy when you are trying to pilot a very big ship out of the harbor. The navigation room is also filled with lots of neat contraptions (radars, radios and stuff) that help the captain and his assistants find their way to each of the islands we were going to visit. The captain was really nice. He told us that since the sun was shining and the water was so calm that it should be easy to start sailing.
After talking to the captain for awhile, it was time for dinner. We were really hungry from all of the excitement and exploring. The food was great! We got to choose whatever we wanted from the menu. Everything looked so good, it was hard to decide what to eat. All the waiters on board are from different countries around the world, so everybody had a different accent. It was fun to try to figure out where they were from by listening to them.
After dinner we met all the kids on the ship and hung out with Nico and the rest of the Total Enter-tainment crew. Total Entertain-ment is a group of singers and dancers who entertain for a living. They were on the cruise last time too. This time they taught us some new dance moves they had picked up over the last year. It was fun seeing them again. They weren't the only familiar faces we saw. Even our friend Paris from home recognized some of the kids from last year's cruise.
After having a great time dancing with everyone and meeting new friends it was time for bed. Today was really hectic and we needed rest for tomorrow.
Sunday was a blast! Sunday was what is called a "sea day". That's when we stay on the boat all day long as we sail from port to port. After breakfast we went to a photo and autograph session where we met even more people and made even more friends. We wanted everyone to have great memories of the
In the afternoon we went swimming. Ashley dove in and discovered that the pool was filled with salt water. Boy was she surprised! After that we were careful to keep our eyes shut and our mouths closed. The salt water didn't keep us from having fun though. We played Marco Polo, Shark-Minnows and a bunch of other other water games.
After swimming there was a family scavenger hunt. There were four teams and each team got a list of strange things they had to try to find on the ship. Robbo was the judge and he decided that Ashley's team was the winner.
Robbo is one of our favorite singers. He makes up all kinds of wacky, sing-along songs. Most of them have quirky names like "Blanket KId", Pohopala-dapus" and "Blow your nose". They're all really funny.
Sunday night was Formal Night for dinner. Everyone was dressed up in their nicest clothes. Trent and the boys looked especially nice in their suits. Paris, Lizzie and the rest of our girls had on our favorite dresses.
After dinner Total Entertainment put on a great show. Everyone danced and sang and had a great time. It was so much fun!
Tuesday was another sea day. In the morning we had junior Olympics on the top deck of the ship. It was so windy up there we thought we were going to get blown right off. The hardest event was the egg relay, the wind kept blowing the eggs off of everybody's spoons. No matter how hard we tried they kept falling off. It didn't matter though, everybody had fun trying. After the Olympics we played ping-pong and swam in the pool. While we were in the hot tub the bird man brought over a huge parrot. It was really pretty and very friendly We all took pictures with it on our shoulders.
After that we had a question and answer time. This gave everybody a chance to ask us questions like "how old are you?" (nine and a half), "Do you have any pets?" (Four; a dog, two parakeets and a gerbil) and learn more about us.
This night was Western Night. Everyone got dressed up in cowboy boots and hats. We wore skirts with cowboys and horses all over them. We were all in the western spirit when Nico taught us line dancing. Unfortunately it started raining so we had to take the party inside but we all made the best of it and danced for two whole hours in the nightclub. After that we were so tired we nearly fell asleep in our clothes.
On Wednesday we were supposed to go to Grand Cayman. We were really looking forward to swimming with the stingrays like we did last year but the boat couldn't dock because the swells (they're large waves) were too big. The boat kept going up and down and some of us got really sick. They closed the harbor so we had to say farewell to Grand Cayman and head on toward Ocho Rios. We spent the day watching movies (Waterworld), eating pizza and ice cream and swimming with our new friends.
Wednesday night was Fifties and Sixties night. Everyone dressed up in great costumes, poodle skirts, and peace signs and danced the night away. Nico even dressed our parents up like the Temptations. They sang and danced and put on a really great show. It was hilarious!
We all stayed up extra late to see the ship's talent show. All the guests got to perform. Even Larry from Total Entertainment sang. Robbo performed his famous "Blanket Kid" with help from Trent and his friend Chris. Everyone sang along and the audience gave a standing ovation.
Thursday morning we were in Ochos Rios, Jamaica. We went to Duns River Falls. Duns River Falls is a group of fifteen waterfalls reaching high up a mountain. We had to make a human chain to climb fifteen hundred feet up a narrow path. It was so cool to stand inside the waterfall as it came crashing past us. After we climbed back down we went back to the ship along with Lizzie to take a hot shower and naps. Trent went into town with some others to shop. When he came back he had a drum that he bought at one of the outdoor bazaars and we got to listen to that drum for the rest of our trip. We really wanted to try to hide it but we couldn't get it away from him. Why couldn't he have gotten something quieter?
Later we walked around the ship and saw all the neat things people had bought. They had wooden animals and other little trinkets for around their homes. There was some really neat stuff.
We hung out with Robbo and played bingo until dinner. It was another Formal Night so once again everyone was dressed in gowns and tuxedos, they all looked so nice! After dinner we had a Disco Night where we all danced until we dropped. It was Thursday Night Fever as everybody twirled and spun to YMCA, Kung Foo Fighting and other great disco hits. We got to watch our parents sing and dance to some of the coolest songs. Then it was our turn. All us kids joined our parents and had a fun-filled evening together. By the time we were done we were so exhausted we barely made it back to our cabins.
Friday was the last day at sea and our last day with our shipmates. In celebration of a great cruise, we had our own Sail With The Stars talent show. It was really amazing that so many talented kids were in the same room. There were 55 acts. Some sang, some danced and others read special poems. We did a little skit with Lizzie and some friends. Every-body laughed and had a good time. After the talent show we had a cocktail party where we signed autographs for our fans.
At dinner that night we went around to all of the tables to say goodbye and thank everybody for coming and let them know how much fun we had with all of them.
Afterwards Total Entertainment threw a grand finale party and everybody ended it with a giant dance on the stage and lots of good-byes.
We were really sad that this wonderful vacation was coming to an end. We are going to miss our new friends and we hope to see them all again sometime in the future.
