School Contest Celebrating 25 Years of "Labels For Education(TM)"
Computers to Be Awarded to Winning Schools Across the Country
12-year-old superstars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will team with Campbell Soup Company's "Labels For Education" program to launch the "Souper School Stuff" contest at schools nationwide, it was announced today. The contest celebrates 25 years for this renowned program which has provided more than $80 million in educational equipment in exchange for redeemed Campbell's product labels. This partnership with Campbell's "Labels For Education" marks Mary-Kate and Ashley's first-ever public effort to support a nationwide education program.
Campbell's "Souper School Stuff" contest will award 75 computers to winning schools across the country. The grand prize winning school will receive 25 computers for their school lab, plus an interactive school visit via satellite by Mary-Kate and Ashley.
Another 50 first prize winning schools will each receive one computer -- 25 provided by Campbell's and 25 donated by Mary-Kate and Ashley to "Labels For Education." The twins' donation doubles the number of lucky winning schools! The computers will be purchased with proceeds from sales of their new "Two Of A Kind" book series, based on the Olsen's new ABC network Friday night television show and published through the joint imprint of Dualstar Publications and Parachute Press, throughout the '98-'99 school year.
"Education has always been a top priority for Mary-Kate and Ashley and their family," said Olsen's attorney Robert Thorne of Thorne & Co. "In addition to being grade `A' actresses, the girls are `A' students as well. This year-long partnership with Campbell's Labels For Education allows them to demonstrate their support for teachers, schools and students in a concrete, meaningful way."
"We are thrilled to be teaming with Mary-Kate and Ashley to celebrate 25 years of Labels For Education," said Dale Morrison, Chief Executive Officer of the Campbell Soup Company. "Campbell's is firmly committed to helping students, parents and teachers obtain much needed educational equipment for their schools. This program truly captures the heart of our company, just as the Olsens have captured hearts all across America."
Campbell Soup Company launched its "Labels For Education(TM)" program in 1973 with 13,000 participating schools.
