ANASTASIA

This non-disney cartoon hired a host of well-knowns (Meg Ryan, Kelsey Grammer, Hank Azaria, Kirsten Dunst, John Cusack and Angela Lansbury) and together with its refreshing plot, provides enough reason to give it a chance. Fear not, its no Fern Gully. Recommended to those in need of happy endings.

MULAN

Next to Beauty and the Beast, Mulan has got to be Disney’s best animated feature yet. A truly hilarious script (much credit goes to Eddie Murphy), extraordinary graphics, a beautiful adaptation of the Chinese tale…just awesome! This has to be the most under-publicised and under-rated disney cartoon. To those anti-cartoon people, you’ll have to make an exception.

GREASE

This is only for musical-lovers and fans of the hips-thrusting/knees-jerking and basically all the mambo-jumbo of the 70s. Look at what 2 decades can do to a person… from a high-school heartthrob to a fat angel, John Travolta has done it all. Impressive dancing, familiar tunes… that’s just about it.

THE X FILES

Promised more dark government conspiracies revealed, more cinematic-scale action and effects… essentially the essence of the award-winning drama series multiply by X. Probably true if you consider the variable X to be a fraction. The film is weak, lacks the style we are accustomed to on TV and the FBI agents are far less sophisticated on the big screen. Surely any episode can beat that.

SLIDING DOORS

Its theme is so optimistic. The film speaks of the inevitable union of meant-to-bes in spite of the unconscious decisions they make in life. A truly well-made picture, characteristic of reknown director-producer Sydney Pollack. If you found Gwyneth mesmerizing in Great Expectations, get ready for a double blow (dressed by Calvin Klein this time) in this original and creative romantic comedy.

WILD THINGS

This movie sure is wild! It contains the amount of twists that Melrose Place will need a season to incorporate into. Despite the cute surprises and far from boring ride, its plot proves too far-fetched to be true. More twisted than clever i would say. Great bods, super-bitchin' and quite a bit of gruesome violence. Be prepared...
