X-MEN

At last, a movie adaptation from a successful comic sells at the box-office. Opening at almost US$60 million odd over the weekend, this blast is breaking records. With a cast of models and killer effects, this action movie is stunning from costumes and sets to stuns and visual f/x. Watch out for this monster film to start on its sequel. Other than Wolverine (played amazingly by Hugh Jackman), the evil mutants are the ones to watch out for... ah sweet Mystique.

KEEPING THE FAITH

Edward Norton's directorial debut is pretty okay. Nothing fancy but interesting enough worthy of mention. Love triangle that is not too complicated and dramatic but light, fun and all too wholesome. Fans of his or sweet little tales of a priest falling for a power business babe who is in love with a rabbi, who happens to be the priest's best friend... you ought to check this one out.

WHAT LIES BENEATH

Filled mostly with atmospheric sounds or quietness, some screams, lots of built up thrills, and extremely minimal sets, What Lies Beneath is not exactly haunting but highly suspenseful. Check out the plot twists and cheap thrills and let me know what you think. Pretty watchable.

NUTTY PROFESSOR II: THE KLUMPS

Crude and sucks.

HOLLOW MAN

This special f/x movie is surprisingly pretty well done with suspense, thrills, plot changes and a superb work on the visual effects. Set in a lab (as usual) and shot tightly, this film is highly enjoyable... did I mention that the effects are amazing?

THE SKULLS

For a teen flick, this one is not bad... with a fresh and rather entertaining storyline about a secret society in a high school, it serves as a nice fantasy for those of us stuck in a mundane university life. Catch Joshua Jackson, again, and new blood from Popular in this mildly successful movie.
