THE FULL MONTY

If you've caught the movie and enjoyed it like none other, this OST will keep that high going for at least a week. Including the catchy dance numbers used by the sextet, this campy soundtrack is a compilation of some of the hottest 70s disco tunes. Performers such as Tom Jones, the M People and disco-queen Donna Summer (who incidentally collaborated with Mariah Carey on her 'butterfly' remixes) promises to relight any suppressed Saturday-night fevers. This Oscar-nominated film's soundtrack, including its nomination for best musical or comedy score, may just be your cup of tea.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS

This 16-track OST contains songs tailored for this gen-x adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel. The film's score can be found on its other soundtrack- Great Expectations the score. By just naming a few of the artistes involved in this stylish album, you should be able to tell the nature of its tracks: Tori Amos, Pulp, the Verve Pipe, Duncan Sheik… This is a trendy and hip compilation, perfect for alternative-music fans and a good starter-album for mainstream-music listeners.

THE POSTMAN

Original score by Oscar-nominated James Newton Howard (for his scoring in My Best Friend's Wedding'). Half of this OST is filled with dramatic orchestral music while the other is full of folk songs sung by John Coinman. If you enjoy scores such as that in Dances With Wolves, you may appreciate those found in this soundtrack. A surprise track, 'You Didn't Have To Be So Nice', is a duet between Amy Grant and the star of the show, Kevin Costner himself. Do not expect a breakthrough performance matching that of Patrick Swayze in the Dirty Dancing soundtrack though.

KENNY GREATEST'S HITS

If you're wondering why this album falls under this category, that is because of the promotional CD that comes with it: My Heart Will Go On (love theme from Titanic). Amidst the Titanic-fever, pardon the oxymoron, this instrumentalist provides a refreshing change to the much overplayed song by Celine.

MELROSE PLACE JAZZ

This OST includes many beautiful jazz pieces featured in the drama series' jazz pub. With Grammy award-winning musicians working alongside popular artistes such as Jim Brickman and Diana Krall, you can expect an album as entertaining as the show. This soundtrack combines essence from jazz and R&B flawlessly and serves as a great record for a slow and romantic night at home.

GOOD WILL HUNTING

Great collection of songs in the style of the Beach Boys-cum-John Lennon. Including the Oscar-nominated song 'Miss Misery', this soundtrack contains some heart-warming instrumental tracks by Danny Elfman. This feel-good album leaves its listeners with as good a feeling as the film. Lots of guitars and acoustic sounds with the accompaniment of soothing male vocals. Check out my favourite track- 'Baker Street' performed by Gerry Rafferty.
