Scream-er Kennedy In Indie Picture

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Jamie Kennedy, who co-starred in "Scream" and will be seen in its upcoming sequel, has been cast in the lead role of the independent picture "Starf-----s" (aka Dust and Stardust), which began production last week.

Set in Hollywood, the picture tells the story of a young wannabe screenwriter (Kennedy) who forms a friendship with a washed-up teen idol. As they slip slowly into poverty, they hatch a bizarre plot to kidnap a celebrity's dog.

Loren Dean and Bridgette Wilson co-star. The film marks the feature directing debut of screenwriter John Enbom.

Kennedy next can be seen in "Scream 2," co-starring with fellow surviving cast members Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette. He'll also appear in James L. Brooks' "As Good as It Gets," starring Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt.
