John Singleton (Boyz 'n the Hood) directs this hard-hitting tale of conflict and cultural diversity on a fictional US university campus.

Bridgette has a small role as the fair-weather friend of one of the leads - Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Kristy Swanson.

This is well worth a see. It is taut and involving for the most part, although at times the race card is overplayed. It also goes downhill somewhat in the final act thanks to a melodramatic and unsatisfying conclusion. The relationships and characters ring true for the most part however and this has much to recommend it.
