Bridgette's movie career in full!

  House on Haunted Hill (1999)
Director: William Malone
Cast: Geoffrey Rush, Famke Janssen, Taye Diggs, Peter Gallagher, Ali Larter, Chris Kattan

Not to be confused with Jan (Speed) De Bont's The Haunting of Hill House (renamed The Haunting and released earlier this year), this is the remake of the 'classic' 1958 horror, where a number of plucky non-believers are bet $1 million each that they can't spend a single night in a notorious haunted house. The cast looks interesting, with Australian Oscar-winner Geoffrey Rush representing the thespian side of things, and Chris Kattan hopefully providing more laughs than he managed in the dismal Night at the Roxbury as the light entertainment. Bridgette plays alongside Peter (Virtual Obsession) Gallagher again. Lucky guy! Let's hope this gets attention and serious column-inches for Bridgette!

Also interesting is that this will be the first release from newly formed production company Dark Castle Entertainment, with industry heavyweights Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis as founders. So this is what Zemeckis has been doing since Contact!

Read the press release here. Thanks once again to Kadi for tracking this down.

More Info

  • William Castle, king of the gimmicks, directed the original film. Audiences were treated to a 'terrifying' flying skeleton that swooped over their heads at key points in the movie. This incredible new technology (also known as 'cheap cutout on a wire') was called "Emergo" by the creator.
  • Vincent Price was the millionaire owner of the house in the classic original.
  • Watch Joe (Gremlins) Dante's excellent Matinee for a spoof of distinctly William Castle-esque proportions.
  • The bet in the 1958 film was the same, but the reward for surviving a night was just $10,000.
