I lucked out and won a pair of tickets to the world premiere for Nick Lea's latest movie, "TheVertical Limit" from KROQ (and I never win anything). Sarah/Brazenhussy is with me, so we're doing this as a joint post (her comments are in brackets):

I called KROQ the Tuesday before the premiere. For once, no busy signal, no all circuits are busy message. "Hello, KROQ." "What number am I?" "What are you calling for?" "Vertical Limit tickets." The screener began taking my name. And I squealed. For real. Apologies to my surrounding co-workers.

"So, you're into mountain movies?" the screener continued. "No, just that one of my favorite actors is in the film." "Chris O'Donnell?" "No. Nicholas Lea. He's Krycek on The X-Files." Pause. "Who? Jeeeez, that's obscure. What's his name again." At some point even the words, "What's wrong with you?"were uttered. :-P

We arrived the Cineplex Odeon just before 6pm, when the webcast started. Our tickets entitled us to stand behind a barricade across from the press to watch the attendees. It was a bit of a zoo, and we'd barely gotten there in time to get a good spot for picture taking. I ended up behind a raised platform that I think the stars were supposed to stand on and be interviewed for the crowed, but they never used it. So the first thing I did was remove the velvet rope in front of me. I don't know, security, it just fell down. ;->

I had my camera and I gave Sarah a disposable so we could tag-team this. Hopefully between the two of us, they came out. [Feh :-P I think I might've gotten one good pic -- I suck!] There was a lot of glare from the lights in front of us so please keep your fingers crossed so I can share them.

You probably saw the webcast, so I'm not going to bother talking about who besides Nick Lea attended. Truth be told, I wasn't paying attention anyway. I am focused. ;-> [I noticed him greeting a couple of his costars -- he seemed to be pleased to see them, and vice versa. He and Bill Paxton exchanged a manly handshake. :-)]

Around 6:30, Sarah told me Nick had arrived, and she went to try to get pictures of him before he walked down the carpet. [This is the one pic that might've turned out :-)] When he stopped in front of me on the carpet, I called his name. He turned and climbed on the platform to say hello. I asked him if he'd pose for a picture. Due to the glare, I had to ask him if he'd move over a couple of inches (yeah, I got chutzpah, leave me alone).

Then he did the cutest thing. He crouched down so that he'd be out of the way of the glare. Needless to say, I'm reeeeeeaaaalllly hoping that one turns out.

[I made it back to Emile's side for this, wisely kept my fool mouth shut (except for the goofy grin), and let me just say, the man looked goooood. He was a real sweetheart for Emile, and I think he was genuinely pleased to see her there.]

We were then escorted into the theater. The celebs had their own screening room while the KROQ winners were seated in an overflow theater reserved for peons. ;->

[After the movie ended, we stayed long enough to see Nick's credit and hoot, because we had to show Nick some love <g>]

"We have to clap when Nick's name comes up. We have to show Nick some love."
"Okay," Sarah replied. "I'll say 'Ow.' when we see him. Definitely 'ow.' Maybe I'll growl. Do you want to say 'ow'?"
"I think mine's going to be more of a "woo."

[We went out to the theater lobby to wait for him to come out of the celebrity screening. We waited for a few minutes, with no sign of Nick, when something occurred to me. Emile is not a smoker. I am. The first thing I want to do after seeing a movie is get the heck outside so I can light up. :-) I looked outside, and sure enough, there he was, chatting with a friend and having a cigarette.]

I would like to add that he looks absolutely beautiful when he purses his lips to exhale -- and he's a considerate smoker -- blows the smoke up and away, instead of in your face. Almost enough to convince a girl to take up second-hand smoking as a hobby.

I spotted Nick outside and he acknowledged me with a wink. I stood a respectful distance from him as he finished his conversation. Random note - for some reason he demonstrated a golf swing to his friend. No clue as to why.

[Emile wanted me to wait with her while she waited for Nick to finish his conversation, but I, knowing from experience that I would only babble at him incoherently :-P, decided not to embarass her, Nick, or myself, and went a few yards down the sidewalk. <g>]

After a couple of minutes, Nick excused himself to say hello to me and he thanked me for coming. I talked briefly to him, told him the movie is awesome, blah blah blah. I made a comment about his character which I'm not saying here because it's a spoiler. He looks great - if you didn't see the webcast, he wore a grey suit, a dark shirt (can't tell you the color because I was too busy staring into his eyes) and black shoes. Clean shaven. He seemed very relaxed and in a great mood. And he's very pleased with the movie.

So, I think that's it. If we remember more details, we'll be sure to post them.
