The following was originally a November 2, 1998 post to the main X-Files mailing list:
A little humor with which to waste time until the premiere. I'm sure we're not the first to make these connections, but we were having fun, so what the hell:
My friend, who we shall call Freak No. 2, and I were talking about how Kevin & Bean were chiding Chris Carter on KROQ about the six season starting so late, and that the first episode would probably be the Christmas episode. This prompted Freak No. 2 to declare the first episode to be, "Merry Christmas, Fox Mulder," which led to our musing about who on the X-Files most closely resembles a Peanuts character.
And haven't we all pondered this?
Charlie Brown: Mulder, of course Linus: Scully. But instead of her blanket, she can't do without her crucifix. Can't you see her reciting Bible verses on the stage during the Christmas special? Or fainting the one time she forgot her crucifix at home? She could also double, of course, as the Little Red-Haired Girl Charlie Brown never gets. [We've also contemplated having Scully as Charlie Brown following around Linus rolling her eyes moaning "Good Grief," and Mulder as Linus who can't live without his photo of his sister - but it doesn't fit as well in the rest of the Peanuts universe.] Lucy: Krycek, who I believe would definitely snatch away that ball and mess with Mulder's mind at the psychiatrist's booth. |
Peppermint Patty: Cigarette Smoking Man. Yes, I know, Lucy's the more obvious choice, but then we wouldn't have:
Marcie: Skinner - "Yes, sir."
Snoopy - Frohike, 'cause we couldn't think of anyone cooler (But can he play a Jew's harp?)
Woodstock - Langly. It's so right on so many levels.
Roy - Byers. Okay, so Roy didn't hang out with Snoopy and Woodstock. I just couldn't bear to assign one of Woodstock's nameless friends to Byers.
Pig Pen - Spender, just 'cause we hate 'im.
Sally - Pendrell 'cause Scully/Linus is his "sweet baboo". If Mulder were Linus then Diana Fowley.
Franklin - Mr. X just 'cause he's Black ;-> (I'm Black, so no flames, k?)
Schroeder - Marita Covarrubius, since Krycek, I mean Lucy, was always after Schroeder
Mysterious, Garbled Adult Voice - any member of the Consortium
Charles Schulz - Chris Carter, natch!
