This is what Steve had to say about his 1998 Soap Opera Award Nomination for Outstanding Younger Leading Actor
Q: Where were you when you found out you'd been nominated? Who told you?
A: A friend of mine called and told me. I had no idea the nominations were coming out. I had no clue about anything, really.
Q: What are some of the reactions you got from friends, colleagues, etc?
A: Well, first of all, I was really surprised. I was like "Really?" It kind of hit me by surprise. Everyone's excited for me. Especially my friends. I took a bunch, probably five of them, last year [to the Awards show], and we had a great time. We're looking forward to it again.
Q: Other than the Digest Award you won last year for Younger Leading Actor, have you ever won anything before?
A: No, that's it!
Q: Do you have a "lucky charm"?
A: No.
Q What do you plan to wear to the Awards show?
A: Whatever wardrobe has! (Laughs) Whatever [costume designer] Bob Miller gets me.
Q: What wouldn't you be caught dead in at the Awards show?
A: A dress!
Q: If you win, who will you thank?
A: God, my mom, my dad. First I would thank Soap Opera Digest because last year I forgot. But I took care of that [and thanked them later]. The first people I'd thank is [the staff at] Soap Opera Digest, then my family, my friends, people at GENERAL HOSPITAL, and [executive producer] Wendy Riche. I have a lot of people to thank. I hope I can remember who I have to thank this time (laughs) if I do happen to win.
Q: Who is the person you are most likely to forget to thank?
A: Probably my family. They slipped my mind last year.
Q: Where will you put the award if you win?
A: Next to the other one on my fireplace
Q: If you couldn't attend, who would you want to accept the award on your behalf? (It can be anyone-living, dead, extraterrestrial, etc.)
A: That's a tough question! I have to say my dad. He'd get a kick out of that.
Q: If you could create your own Soap Opera Digest category, what would it be?
A: That's a tough question. Hmmm.....Best teeth! I wouldn't win, but I know alot of actors who paid a lot of money for those teeth, and they should be getting awards!
