Cybertracker
Article from Soap Opera Update
It was only 1 year ago that GENERAL HOSPITAL's Steve Burton took time away from his do-gooder duties as Port Charles' Jason to star in the feature film "Cybertracker." But the film did so well on video, and Burton's popularity has soared so high since that film was produced, that Burton was recently back to work on the sequel "Cybertracker II," which continues the story of a crime fighting news cameraman who tackles bad guys one-on-one.
"This time there is even more action than before," reports Burton from the set of the movie, where he invited Soap Opera Update for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look. "'Cybertracker' was a big hit in Germany and Spain," Steve says matter-of-factly, "so that helped in determining just how far to go (with the action) in part two."
The recent Playgirl cover boy admits that working on a movie set is pure satisfaction as far as he's concerned. "GENERAL HOSPITAL is all about story, emotion and relationships. I've been playing Jason long enough to satisfy my dramatic side, so it's a lot of fun to add some action to my acting platter," he says with a smile.
Burton was not smiling moments later, however, when he completed one of many stunts he's called upon to perform in the movie. "Rick Pepin is terrific. He's producer and director, and he has trusted me to do my own stunts. I've been treated great on the set. Rick is very open-minded about each shot, allowing actors to have input. That makes the work, which sometimes can be tough, a pleasure." So while Burton does his own fights, diving, rolling and jumping in and out of danger, all while playing a television news cameraman, he's learning a lot too. "I'm learning that hitting the ground during rehearsal on a mattress hurts a lot less than doing it just a few minutes later and landing on a cement floor," he says laughing. "It hurts a lot more, but it's also a lot more fun.
