Emily: "Juan, one thing that you have to know, if you want to be a friend of mine, you can never ever rip off any of my friends."
Juan:(feigning innocence) "I wasn't."
Juan:(sheepishly) "Okay, I won't."
Emily: "Look, I don't want you to end up in jail, and that's what's going to happen if you keep doing what you're doing!"
Juan: "Not necessarily." (makes exaggerated gestures) "I have very fast hands."
Emily:(sarcastically) "Oh,I am so impressed."
Juan: "What, you don't believe me? Here, open your purse and start walking away."
Emily:(pretends to think about it) "No."
Juan: It's only a demonstration, I promise to give you everything back. What's wrong, you don't trust me?"
Emily: "You have 5 seconds." (opens her purse and turns)
(Juan reaches in and is about to grab her wallet when a sound breaks on his ears)
Jason: "I wouldn't." (Jason looks at him coldly)
Emily: "Jason, I can explain."
Jason: "You don't have to."(looks at Juan, quietly) "You just stole from the wrong person."
Emily: "No, Jason, we were just playing around."
Jason: "Emily, he's using you. You're just a way for him to get to Sonny."
Juan:(indigantly) "That's a lie! You just want to get rid of me because I made you look bad; 'cause I got through your guys."
Jason:(smirks) "You're not gonna go through my sister."
Juan: "Go to hell!" (whirls around to leave)
(Jason grabs him by the shirt and is about to fight)
Emily:(frantically running to her brother) "No, no, no! Jason, stop! Please don't hurt him! Jason, please!"
Sonny:(coming up) "Jason, Jason. I would consider it a personal favor."
(Jason reluctantly shoves him to Sonny)
Sonny: "What happened?"
Jason:(deadly cold) "I caught him goin' through Emily's purse."
Emily:(holding a hand up) "I...I let him."
Sonny:(looks at her sharply) "Why?"
Emily:"Um, we were just playing around, having fun."
Sonny:(looks at Emily as she walks around,then turns to look at Juan) "It's fun to practice stealing?"
Juan:(evenly) "I never stole from her."
Sonny: "Well, you're not gonna steal from anybody." (pulls a wad of cash from his pocket) "Take it."
Juan: "I don't want your money."
Sonny:(angry) "I am tired of hearin' what you want." (nods to Jason)
Jason: "It's all set."
Sonny:(puts the money back) "Good."
Juan:(suspiciously) "What'd you have him do? Buy me a ticket back to Puerto Rico? If you send me back, I'm just gonna run away again."
Sonny: "Well, that's what your father seems to think. So, you're just gonna stay here until we can figure out where you go next."
Juan:(wistfully) "I'm going to stay with you?"
Sonny: "No, Kelley's. And, you're going to pay for all your meals."
Juan:(defiantly) "Is that an order?"
Sonny: "Yeah."
Juan: "Tough."
Sonny:(laughs as if frustrated) "Look, I'm gonna tell you---I'm only gonna say this once. You will stay in that place, or my men will put you there."
(Juan mulls this over)
Sonny:(once again pulls out the cash) "Now,take the money. Take the mon---"
Juan:(grabs the cash from his hand) "Why are you doin' this if you don't want me around?"
Sonny: "You don't belong on the street any more than you belong here. You made a mistake, Juan. You're runnin' in the wrong direction."
Juan:(sadly) "Paying me off so you don't have to think about me."
Sonny: "More or less."
Emily: "Um, Juan, why don't we go check out your new room and maybe we can get some food on the way?"
Juan: "I guess I don't have much of a choice." (stalks off)
(Emily goes to follow,and Jason grabs her elbow & gives her hand a quick squeeze, looking at her face closely, before letting her go off. He watches as she follows Juan up the stairs on the dock)
Jason:(rubs his face wearily, quietly) "He may be Lily's son, but, that doesn't mean he can use my sister. The sooner we get the kid out of here, the better off we are."
Sonny:(quietly) "Yeah, I know. Poor kid's got trouble written all over him."
