General Hospital's Steve Burton is on a mission to help children in impoverished areas of Africa. He's working with African Renewal Ministries, a charity that, among other things, builds churches in Uganda. "I'm trying to raise money for 300 orphans," says the big hearted star. "[This organization] builds new churches and then they use the old structures for the school or orphanage. Money goes to food, clothing, schooling. Whatever they need. It's incredible." Before diving in, Burton did his research. "A lot of people are hesitant to do things for charity because they don't know what portion is going to the actual cause. But I know this money is getting to the right place." So ,with that in mind, Burton says, "If people want to help, I'm trying to raise about $50,000. They can donate a small sum or take an orphan as their own for that year and for years to come." To donate, call Sonia at (210) 979-7441 with account numbers 17105 or 17106. Burton, by the way, is putting his wallet where his mouth is. The last time his fans pooled donations, Burton matched them!
