Fatherhood has brought Steve Burton closer to his own dad!
Steve Burton fans, unite! If there's one person to give a collective thanks to for bringing your favorite hitman with a heart to the little screen, it's the actor's father, Jack.
"My dad is actually the one who got me into acting," says Burton. "That's pretty huge. He suggested that I maybe take an acting class, see how I liked it. That turned into getting a commercial agent, and he would drive me around to commercial auditions. That's how it all started. He knew some people who were in the business. Not that he had 'connections' so to speak. He just knew how to do it without going down the wrong road. A lot of people when they come [to Los Angeles] have no idea what to do. At least he had some people he could call to get some right answers."
The relationship between the two Burton men has changed considerably through the years. Thankfully, that change has been for the better. "We've had tough times - as some fathers and sons do - but now our relationship is awesome," assures Burton, whose daughter, Makena, is now 21 months old. "Me having my own baby has strengthed that a lot, as it usually does. She did a lot for our family. It's amazing. [Her being the first grandchild] is huge. Any conflicts in the family, whatever's going on, you just realize how important family is once you have a baby. All that stuff just becomes very trivial."
