1981 Endless Love

Tom Cruise made his debut in the movies as a teen-love-gone-bad melodrama, giving Martin Hewitt the idea to burn down Brooke Shields' house.

"I met Brooke and her mother and thought that was really cool. But I didn't know what I was doing. They'd saw, 'Hit this mark.' I didn't know what a mark was."

I didn't see this movie.....for awhile, I didn't even know that he made this movie.

1981 Taps

Tom, Sean Penn, and Timothy Hutton played military-school cadets.

" Tim had just won an Academy Award. Sean had done Broadway. I just knew these guys were incredibly talented. I remember thinking I was going to get fired any minute."

I didn't see this one either. So there's really not much for me to say. I hear that Tom plays some loony cadet that takes his job too serioiusly. Maybe I should check it out.

1983 The Outsiders

It's a tribute to 1950's teen flicks that put Cruise with Patrick Swayze, Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, and Emilio Estevez.

"All the guys were living on this one floor---it was wild. We did a lot of improv together. I kind of found my timing in that movie."

I only saw parts of this movie...I guess not much of an interest at that time. I really don't have an input on it.

1983 Losin' It

Tom and his friends were one their way to Tiajuana, Mexico to party and have some fun. Fun wasn't what they ended up with.

"That was the first movie I made that taught me to really pay attention to the projects I pick. It was an awakening. After that I was like, 'I don't care if I have to bus table---I want to work in good movies.' "

I really thought the movie was lame. There wasn't a point in it. It was about a bunch of guys trying to get "laid." The only one that ended up with the night was Tom and Shelly Long??

1983 Risky Business

While Tom's parents are away, his house gets robbed by the girl that he falls for.

"The director, Paul Brickman, didn't want to see me at first. He thought that I was the psycho cadet from the movie Taps. And I didn't want to go out to L.A. for the screen test. But my agent was like, 'Get on an airplane now!' I ended up turning down Coppola's Rumble Fish to do Risky Business. Everyone thought that Iwas nuts."

I saw a little bit of the movie a long time ago. I wasn't in the mood to watch it. I was flipping through the channels most of the time.

1983 All The Right Moves

Cruise is a popular football player that finds trouble with his love life and with his coach.

"It was a tough shoot. I got the flu, had a103 temperature, lost 10 lbs, I got a concussion. Very rough."

I saw the movie only once awhile ago. I don't remember much of it. I think that once was enough for me. This to me was just a film that I saw just because Tom was in it.
