Tweety & Silvester
"The
Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries"
For the first time in three decades, Warner Bros. Animation's
legendary favorites, Sylvester and Tweety, are together again for
all-new
escapades as they star in their own hilarious half-hour animated
series
"The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries,".
In the vein of Abbott & Costello, Lucy & Desi and Martin
& Lewis, the
series finds Sylvester, the always mischievous and often daring
feline,
teamed with an oh-so-endearing and cunning yellow bird named
Tweety. And,
of course, there's Granny, Tweety Bird's loyal elderly caretaker,
who
possesses a strange knack for detective work.
In each episode, investigative sleuth Granny (and all of her pets
including
Hector the Bulldog) are propelled to exotic locales around the
world
scoping out the latest criminals and uncovering each and every
mystery that
comes their way. Though natural enemies, the cat and canary must
coexist to
survive the perils of every challenging criminal case. But even
that
reality is not enough to keep Sylvester's natural instinct in
check -- to
devour Tweety whole. Sylvester's lifelong dream is to suck up to
the person
who feeds him -- Granny -- in hopes of sucking up a feathery
bite-size
morsel. As Sylvester once said, "I gotta have a bird! I'm
weak, but I don't
care! I can't help it! After all, I am a pussy cat!" While,
on the other
hand, Tweety's lifelong goal is to keep Granny happy and to do
this he must
solve Granny's difficult cases by ferreting out the most crucial
clues. Of
course, this is not easy when there's a prowling, stalking,
fast-talking
feline after you every minute of every day. And, it doesn't make
it easy on
Sylvester when his best con-artistry is foiled by Tweety's
unruffled
assuredness. (Tweety, by far, out-cons the best cons!)
Granny, Sylvester and Tweety on these adventurous outings is a
burly
bulldog-of-few-words named Hector whose ambition in life is to
protect
Granny at all times and make that smark-alek cat look stupid.
Hector's
brute strength and supposed canine cunning serve as one of
Sylvester's
greatest challenges.
But, when "Sufferin' Succotach!" is heard, the focus is
on mystery and you
can be sure that Granny and her menagerie are in the midst of
one. Their
cases vary. Classic Warner Bros. characters such as Yosemite Sam
and Elmer
Fudd serve as villainous luminaries making cameo appearances in
some
episodes where Granny tries to unleash their evil ways.
The group also attempts to unravel cases involving several of
Granny's
formidable adversaries. There is Moo Goo Guy Pan, an evil
mastermind and
former suitor of Granny's, who is also in his golden years and
constantly
attempting to thwart Granny in order to illegally acquire the
world's
riches for his own private collection. And, the team uncovers the
criminal
acts committed by Madame Pamplemousse, a crime novelist resentful
of
Granny's puzzle-solving success in the wake of her own failure.
Yes, this globetrotting foursome create chaos everywhere they go,
but
together they find the stolen Blarney Stone amid Ireland's lush
greenery,
outpace Spain's annual bull run in Pamplona and dodge ninjas in
the glitz
of Tokyo's Ginza district. Sylvester, Tweety, Granny and Hector
provide
unrelenting comedy as they encounter mystery and feline hunger in
exotic
lands around the world in each hilarious half-hour episode.
Joe Alaskey ("Steven Spielberg Presents Tiny Toon
Adventures," "Who Framed
Roger Rabbit") takes over the roles of both Sylvester and
Tweety originally
performed by voice-over legend Mel Blanc. Voice-over matriarch
June Foray,
the original voice of Granny, once again portrays the
warm-hearted
grandmother conjuring up memories of first recording the
character in 1954
(Foray's other credits include "The Rocky and Bullwinkle
Show" and
"Smurfs"). Voicing the various villains are Jim
Cummings ("Road Rovers,"
"Taz-Mania," "Steven Spielberg Presents Tiny Toon
Adventures"), Jeff
Bennett ("Steven Spielberg Presents
Animaniacs,""Road Rovers"), Frank
Welker ("Road Rovers," "Aladdin") and many
others.
SYLVESTER
(voiced by Joe Alaskey)
Sylvester, one of the world's most famous felines, is on the
prowl in all
new adventures. The crafty and cunning classic Warner Bros. cat
continues
his lifetime pursuit of Granny's "juicy" yellow
canary...the legendary
Tweety Bird...and his lifetime annoyance, Granny's bullish
bulldog, Hector.
TWEETY
(voiced by Joe Alaskey)
Tweety, an innocent and lovable yellow canary, is once again
teamed with
his adoring caretaker, dear ol' Granny. As always, Tweety is the
center of
Granny's world. Unfortunately, Tweety's greatest adversary,
Sylvester,
would like to put an end to Tweety's world -- with one
scrumptious bite.
In spite of it all, Tweety remains Granny's most adored and
favored pet as
well as her crimefighting lucky charm. Tweety always remains calm
in the
face of danger and is able to keep Sylvester at arms length
outsmarting the
foxy feline time after time. Tweety exudes trustworthy confidence
and his
feathers are never ruffled. He's the smartest little canary there
is and
often takes pity on "the poor, poor puddy tat."
GRANNY
(voiced by June Foray)
Granny is the eccentric, world-renowned, yet somewhat forgetful,
detective
who marches to the beat of her own drum. Unbelievably, she is
always able
to crack a case with amazing last-minute investigative work.
In her golden years, Granny has developed a true passion for
adventure.
Whether it's rollerblading, hang-gliding or bungee jumping,
Granny lives
life to the fullest. She journeys everywhere on earth solving
impossible
crimes with her indomitable spirit and keen sense of justice.
Granny is joined by her loyal companion Tweety Bird (also an ace
crime
sleuth), Sylvester, the fast-talking feline who can't wait to
swallow the
little yellow canary, and Hector, a burly bulldog who's always
looking out
for dear ol' Granny.
HECTOR THE BULLDOG
(voiced by Frank Welker)
This burly canine, Hector, regards himself as Granny's heroic
hound. he has
a heart of gold, amazing brute strength and a faithful
disposition. But his
biggest obstacle is his mind. It's a real liability and it causes
him
tremendous anxiety when he really has to think. He is a terrible
decision-maker and is often taken advantage of by the sly feline,
Sylvester. Sylvester is well aware of Hector's limitations and
will con the
poor pup every chance he gets. Conversely, Hector knows Sylvester
can't
stand to do something he doesn't want to, therefore, the loveable
"lapdog"
will happily shove the reluctant feline across the floor,
'volunteering'
him for Granny's latest menial task -- which Sylvester will
probably trick
the dog into actually performing later.
Together this cat and dog serve as each other's greatest
challenge.
JUNE FORAY
(The Voice of "Granny")
June Foray, dubbed by entertainment industry trade publication
The
Hollywood Reporter as "the first lady of off-camera voice
actors," returns
to the role she created over forty years ago, Granny, the
warm-hearted

canary and a
cunning cat. As voice-over matriarch of the cartoon world, Foray
has worked
alongside animation legends such as Chuck Jones, Friz Freleng,
Bob McKimson
and Jay Ward. She began working with Walt Disney on

and
Natasha in "The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show," Foray
continues to create
indelible characters today.
In addition to her voice-over work, Foray has toured the world
speaking on
the art of animation. She has visited countries such as France,
England,
Japan, Russia, Australia and New Zealand.
