"This episode would have gotten higher but it had a rotten ending. Okay, it was a very good epiosde, great effects and nice and freaky. Also besides the fact that they didn't close the epiosde well the solution was a little far fetched also. Mulder usually gets his weird theories mid way through the episode so we all have time to get used to it. Coming at the end made it seem like he for once couldn't come up with a conclusion and offered just any old theory. The beginning part was great, really funny. Lastly the special effects were okay, the eyes and the effect of the things running through the forest was good, but the mask of the face was fake along with the all black costume in the kid's house, but I liked it. The 5th season so far has done no wrong!"

"'Detour' was a wonderfully written episode with the unique, signature X-Files combination of the fear factor, seriousness, and comedy. This reminded me of "The Jeresy Devil" with the forest, mysterious deaths of people, and a unknown attacker. The Moth Man was definitely more scarier and creepy than the Jeresy Devil, putting both Mulder and Scully in immediate and direct danger. When they were stranded by themselves in the woods, they took the situation very calmly and well. The forest scene was a very, very good thing for them and everyone watching (mostly the Shippers). It bonded them emotionally and physically. The short talk by Scully about dying and about her cancer reminded us about the near death she was facing just two weeks ago. Also the cute oneliners and flirtations helped with the comedy of the episode. The part where an injured Mulder is resting on Scully and Scully singing showed the strong friendship that they shared-that no matter what, that they're always be there for each other. The acting was superb and the looks that Gillian Anderson had were priceless. This episode goes on my top 10 list."

"Oh my gosh! "Detour" wus so amazing! I mean, the story line was freaky but I loved the M/S bonding! And Mulder was so on the ball with all his little comments! I loved the whole "straded in the woods all by ourselves" senero...they did it so well! And Scully and Mulder were so sweet! Scully kept Mulder warm even after his little comment about naked people and sleeping bags (he,he) "I don't wanna wrestle!" The whole car scene with those other two FBI agents was great too. And I loved it when Scully comes in with the alcohol warning Mulder about FBI regulations and fraternizing between partners. She was so cute! The entire episode was so great and well done!"

"Great! Creepy classic X-File, plus liberal doses of UST. It was fun from beginning to end, even with somw plot holes you could drive a truck through: Ponce De Leon?!? Come on! This is one of the very few Files to ever give me the creeps, and it was thr glowing red eyes that did it for me! Plus, look at at the LOVELY UST. From wine to sleeping bags to campfires to "Maybe you'll get lucky" to Mulder sleeping on Scully's lap. I loved this! And, thank goodness, Scully saved Mulder instead vice versa! And there was continuity! Scully's canceer was talked about, which is really great. To have forgotten it so quickly would have taken a lot away from the power of that whole storyline. Overall, I thought it was a fun, creepy, UST-y episode. Maybe if it starts raining sleeping bags, you'll get lucky."

"This was such a creepy episode...I loved it! Mulder's humor in the car and at the motel room was great, Scully even managed to crack a small smile at his jokes. I felt like there was some serious bonding going on in those dark woods. Scully showed her sensitivity by singing the "Bullfrog" song to Mulder. Scully never did manage to get a scientific theory out before the show ended...was she for once as freaked out as we were!? The ending was priceless...admit it, you all checked under the bed before turning out the light Sunday night."

"When I first saw the preview for this episode, I thought "This is going to be like a mixture of Darkness Falls/Fallen Angel/Quagmire and it's going to stink!" Boy, was I wrong! Frank Spotnitz made this episode which could have easily fallen on it's butt soar to be, in my opinion, one of the best ever. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson's acting, as well as chemistry, contributed greatly to this hilarious, yet frightening episode. Mark Snow's music added darkness to the overall setting, giving this episode an eerie feeling. Of course, to all of us shippers, Spotnitz gave us a pleasure of endulging in this USTfilled episode. This episode showed how close Mulder and Scully have become over the past four years as well as the fact that it was a good ole scary episode."

"Detour was a great episode. It combined humor, scariness, action, some great friendship scenes between Mulder and Scully, and some real-life situations into a perfect X-File. I liked the addition of the two agents who were driving Mulder and Scully to the convention - they gave the show some spice. It seems that after the Scully cancer incident the two agents have become closer. Mulder seems a bit protective of Scully, and Scully seems to understand and trust Mulder like he was her close sibling. They are completely comfortable with and trusting of one another, which is important to their partnership. On another note, Detour kept me laughing with Mulder's constant wisecracks and Scully's attempt at singing "Jerimiah Was A Bullfrog." This episode is definitely going on my all time top ten favorites list! Mulder: 'I don't wanna wrestle.'"

"I thought this was an extremly humorus X-Files, Mulder's lines were quite witty and had me laughing out loud. I also found this episode to be scary and at some parts had me jumping in my seat. I thought the demon was a creative one, and it's glowing red eyes displayed the perfect effect. I thought this epsiode was great, a funny and scary X-Files is the perfect combination!"
