Eve

"It's spooky how two seemingly innocent little girls can be so sinister."

-Julie C.-

The episode, "Eve", originally aired on December 10, 1993. That episode of The X-Files was the tenth episode of the first season. A child, Teena Simmons, is the only witness to her father's bizarre death. His body was found drained of blood after she sees 'red lightning'. Suspecting alien involvement similar to the cattle mutilations of the Western U.S., Mulder and Scully investigate the murders. But they are stunned when a second, identical murder on the opposite coast of the U.S. turns up an identical witness. The two girls appear to be twins. Deep Throat provides Mulder and Scully with access to a psychotic with inside information about a fertility clinic and a possible experiment in genetic manipulation dating back to the Cold War. When the girls are kidnapped, Mulder and Scully suspect a maverick clinic doctor who may herself be a result of bizarre genetic experiments. The agents eventually discover the shocking truth about the twins.

"Ahhhh. The wonders of cloning. You start with a sheep and before you know it...you've got sets and sets of identical people. Here's a classic X-Files tale about the government conducting clone testing since the 50's. There's probably a clone of JFK out there somewhere. Whose that familiar looking guy placing flowers on Jackie O's grave? Yet another paranoid theory for Oliver Stone to ruminate over. It was a clone in the presidential limo Oliver, a clone all along, and I was born in '69, so whose to say there aren't twenty of me running around. Anyway, this is a superior genetic offshoot of the movie 'Bad Seed'. Written by freelance writers Kenneth Biller and Chris Brancato 'Eve' is highlighted by the excellent acting talents of Harriet Harris, Harriet Harris, Harriet Harris, Harriet Harris, ect..... who delivers a genetically insane performance/performance/performance/performance/per...... The X-Files investigatory branch submits this FBI note: Cattle mutilations = cloning."

"This is very good episode, one that I enjoy watching over and over again. It's spooky how two seemingly innocent little girls can be so sinister. They commit murders without showing any feelings, almost as if they were posessed. I like Mulder's "po-tay-to, po-tah-to" line, referring to his and Scully's different wording on what happened to the girls. Kidnapped or abducted? The whole Litchfield experiment thing is a great idea for an episode."
