"Being no Bela Lugosi, a masked Mulder makes for a decent Dracula. Nice fangs. No bite. Like this episode. The creators of this episode stand over the bullet ridden bank tellers of television with a halting finger on the trigger. It makes one want to bark, "Shoot! Shoot! Damn it! Shoot something with more imagination, a series of events which transcends this endlessly raped gun filled stream of steady signals." Although this episode is more like your average F.B.I. and bad guys t.v. fare, that your average X-Files episode usually deviates from, it has David and Gillian in it. Which are both still infinitely better to watch than most of the thought abducted empty brained spaghetti squash filled talking skin bags which inhabit the juvenalia a t.v. watcher must patiently endure while watching their video cassette recordings of past episodes of the X-Files, other high quality t.v. shows, movies..or performing any number of other more stimulating activities. The elements of paranoia and government conspiracy are all here, yet they are not used to create anything with a great effect on the viewer and are forgettable. The writing was average and the story was not in a league with any of the episodes from the strong first half of the season. I even found the musical landscape to be of a somewhat mundane nature, which, while being a rare occurence for composer Mark Snow, did not help things at all."

"It's a sad thing when I run out of words to express just how awesome this show is. Things like 'wow,' 'great episode,' and 'couldn't be better' just don't cut it when they keep getting better and better. Wonderful plot, I'm glad that Mulder wasn't really a traitor, I don't think I could take Scully loosing face in him. Those people who have been saying DD can't act, I would like to say: Take That! If they are so critical of him they should try acting on a cult hit sometime. A little harder then they thought. Anyway, It was a great conspiracy episode. X-Files seems to be doing more of those than aliens these days. But as long as they turn out like this I have no complaints. Acting between Mulder and Scully was great. I just love Scully's ability to state the obviouse. ex: "You're in pain." Mulder's answer: "Well if you keep jerking it around like that..." was great. As soon as that person said your gun could be traced, I figured he didn't really kill the person, I thought Mulder had a friend there, though I was not expecting the person who also turned him in. I think this person would work well as a government contact...in fact, KILL UNBLONDE!! Bring in Biotoxin dude!!! Again, I would have to create a new dictionary to put in words what I think of this episode so I'll just say this. X-Files gets better and better without a doubt. Viva X-Files!!!!"

"This was a good, solid non-mythology episode, and I must say I was a little surprised to see such a good episode from the pen of John Shiban. True, he did write 'Elegy,' another good stand alone episode, but I've often found myself dissappointed with his work. I'm very glad to see his work evolving and becoming more refined. This was a very good episode that moved quickly. I enjoyed Scully's suspicion of Mulder, as well as the fact that she would not go to Skinner until she was absolutely sure that Mulder had ulterior motives. I liked the line, "I expect the truth from you." It was very well worded and showed how their partnership works. I also enjoyed the Mulder Torture scene; I found myself jumping and gasping as I heard Mulder's finger crack. The ending wound up nicely with Mulder being freed after a very tense scene (with great acting on David's part) and the confrontation of the CIA man. Good episode overall!"

"I enjoyed this back to the roots type episode, with aliens AND government conspiracies. But, how did the people in the theater get exposed? The ticket person said the movie was almost over so most would not have bought any more refreshments thus they would not have touched any of the theater's money. If directly sprayed or touched, SOMEONE would have made some sort of commotion, like "Hey, don't touch me" or "What's wrong with you?" ect. Could one person pass it to another? Scully should know by now to trust Mulder and his judgement no matter how anything looks. But she WAS being more human by thinking as she did. Anyhow, if I was always rescuing someone like she does Mulder, I think I'd be more than concerned about what he was up to and all that."

"This episode was very confusing--something the X Philes like. The wise cracks and puns were placed appropriately, and the suspense was beautifully created. It's good to know that Mulder isn't a goody-goody."
