Scully: "Where's she [Det. White] going?"
Mulder to Scully: "I know how much you like slapping on the latex."
Mulder: "Will you let me drive?!?"
Mulder: "You just ran a stop sign back there, Scully."
Mulder: "You don't suppose she's a virgin, do you?"
Scully: "I doubt she's even a blonde."
Scully: "I'm driving. Why do you always have to drive? Because you're the guy? Because you're the big macho man?"
Mulder: "No. I was just never sure your little feet could reach the pedals."
Scully: "Shut up, Mulder!"
Mulder: "Sure. Fine. Whatever."

"This one's grown on me (although I think the kid book was better than the episode). Possessed girls aside, the episode really orbits around the Astrologer's pronouncement that "relationships are gonna suck." Scully, ever the professional, takes an instant dislike to Det. White because she considers her incompetent with regards to a series of cult murders. While this may be true, Scully wrongfully concludes that Mulder is being led around by his, er, hormones (to paraphrase DD). The tension (and the crankiness) mounts, exacerbated by a planetary alignment. As with the other humorous episodes, this one makes Mulder the butt of most of its jokes: his perfume sniffing obsession, the stretching of the cat's face (extra rating points!) and his exchanges with the astrologer all rocked. The powers that be decree that we can laugh at Mulder, who is unconventional, but not Scully, who is even more humorless than usual. But that's one of the reasons I adore Mulder - at least he has a sense of humor. In my not so humble opinion, this is an anti-Scully episode. The stuff that preceded every "Don't ask me" wasn't enough. Even I, a noromo [No Romancer], acknowledge that Mulder adores Scully. Yet while he defended her to Det. White ("She's rigid, but in a wonderful way"), she, petulant to the end, told him to shut up (I can't imagine Mulder ever saying such a thing to her, unless he was on spiked tap water) -- and this when the influence of the Syzygy was over! -- Nitpicking: Why didn't anyone make the connection between the "Grover Gruff" logo and the goat burned onto the kid's chest? Mulder's more observant than that (afterall, he did make a pentagram out of bunch of random circles on the Sanguinarium floor). I'd have preferred a bigger change in everyone at the end. Sure, Scully & Mulder reunited (more or less), but Det. White & Scully were still just as catty toward one another. Overall, though, it was nice to Chris Carter experimenting and taking chances with the characters."

"This is a classic X-Files episode. All the elements of the show are working together to create a masterpiece. Excellent writing by Chris Carter really catapults this high above the usual television dribble, not to mention excellent acting, and direction. Wendy Benson and Lisa Robin Kelly are great as the muderous teens endowed with cosmic powers- " hate him, hate him, wouldn't want to date him." I love the way this episode looks, that trademarked X-Files lighting, it's beautiful. Classic moments are everywhere- but that is only to be expected when the planets are aligned and people are caught in cosmic g-spots -Mulder drinking Vodka and frozen o.j., Scully smoking a butt, Scully's jealousy ( conveyed excellently by Anderson ), Mulder being caught in bed with the object of Scully's jealousy. I love the scene where Mulder thinks that there is a baphomet symbol burned in one of the victims and Scully jealousy dismisses it. This episode is loaded with darkly comic moments, which the X-Files is the perfect vehicle for. Fine. Whatever."

"Every time "Syzygy" airs, I hope there aren't any viewers who are tuning in for the first time - I can imagine how confused they would be! X-Philes, of course, have a lot to appreciate in this episode - the black humor, the now-classic lines like "Sure. Fine. Whatever." and the over-the-top plot. I found some of the humor to be a little forced, especially the Keystone Cops movie on every channel. It felt like Chris Carter trying a little too much to write like Darin Morgan. On the whole, an entertaining episode, but I wouldn't want to date it!"

"Loved it! Scully taking the skeptic role out of proportion and Mulder taking off on his crazy theories. It was great to see them, for a change of pace, greatly exaggerating their characters! The plot itself was a great idea with the usual supernatural element. My roommate and I actually found ourselves chanting Terri and Margi's (the two girls with the supernatural powers) chorus of "Hate Him! Wouldn't want to date him!" during a conversation of our favorite X-Files episodes."

"I never liked Syzygy (for one thing I can't pronounce it). The story line is very good and the effects of the guns going off and the rattling and the desks skidding all around was cool, but I do not like the tension between Mulder and Scully. I would have been perfectly happy if Detective White got impaled herself. I am not a shipper, but I am one of those people who prefer to see Mulder and Scully with no personal lives. Lastly, Vodka and smoking is bad for you."

"I like how Mulder and Scully have a small fight because it shows how delicate their relationship is and how great it is that they are able to maintain it. This episode is really good because it deals with a subject that hadn't really been touched by the show before. David Duchovny is brilliant as always."

"Great comments between Mulder and Scully. Gives me a new idea of their views of their relationship toward each other as partners. Plot could be more original, I think I remember Satanic Cults at work with possesed teenagers in 'Die Hand Die Verletzt'."

"This is one of my favorite episodes. I think the tension between Mulder and Scully helped to make it quite funny, and I thought that there were a lot of good "one liners". Everyone did a great job on it."
-Meghan M.-
"This is one of my absolute favorite episodes. I love the play of Scully and Mulder's platonic love. It's passionate and the episode has a lot of tongue-in-cheek humor."

"I liked the way that they incorporated Scully and Mulder's relationship into the story. How that lady said realtionships would be having problems......very cool!"
-Jamie B.-
"I loved the part were Scully walked in on Mulder, that was cute. I also liked the chant, HATE HIM HATE HIM WOULD'T WANT TO DATE HIM"
