"In his ongoing effort to photograph death so that it may claim him, the ageless man snaps a picture of this episode in progress. Realizing he has an adequate enough likeness of death, he quits photography and promptly dies. Pair Scully up with a jerk, show how much she needs Mulder, define their relationship within the context of an episode, shift the focus away from the story to Mulder and Scully, and ruin the show. Thank you. If Mulder and Scully got together romantically... ever, I would lose respect for the show. It's as stupid as can be. If Mulder and Scully ever got together they should have gotten together in the first season of the show...and one of the reasons why the show is so good is that they never did get together and so you have this electricity between them while they solve cases. In the first couple of seasons it was great because they didn't overly dwell on Mulder and Scully, they were who they were while they worked on the X-Files, the X-Files being the focus. Now you have the X-Files which has been terminated, but not terminated and you have Mulder and Scully who kiss but don't kiss. Are you telling me that two attractive, intelligent people like Mulder and Scully are practically never going to have a date in their lives? No. No. No. They are dating, but its not taking place during the events in the show. Maybe now, while the show is in its sixth season, they should both quit the FBI, forget about the X-Files (too dangerous and scary) and the show should focus on their dating different people, this way we could follow them around on their dates as they realize that only they are good for each other, and the show could become what it really wants to become..a soap opera. (Will Mulder and Scully finally get together...find out on " Scully's Peak"!) If Mulder and Scully ever thought about having a romantic/sexual relationship wouldn't they be smart enough to realize that maybe it wouldn't work out and that they might lose their trusting work relationship which is necessary to the survival of both of them? Dating someone you have such a great working relationship with, especially in a dangerous situation like the one they are in, is dumb and it would make Mulder and Scully seem reckless and idiotic to me. However, the producers of the show seem to be trying to set something up here between the two of them, probably for a movie down the line, and if this is true, it's preposterous because a Mulder and Scully romance is such a sugary nonevent. Really, I don't care if Mulder and Scully are getting together, if Mulder is gay, Scully a lesbian or if it's Scully and Frohike sitting in a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g. It's not what the show is about and not what I watch the show for, so for such a thing to be taking up valuable time on the show causes the show to lose its focus and once a show loses its focus... its finished. Also, the actual story in this episode seemed like an X-Files cliché (Yet another guy who doesn't age? Is Chris Carter and crew afraid of getting old? They should be.) Work on those scripts!"

"At first I thought this would be a recycled version of 'Unruhe.' I was happily surprised when it stood by itself. The ongoing saga of Mulder and Scully without the X-Files took an interesting turn when Kersch tried to lead Scully away from "the dark side." It's getting really painful to watch Mulder pine for the X-Files, I'll be glad when he gets them back in 'Two Fathers' and 'One Son.' I really enjoyed watching Scully work this episode, I've never thought that she was Mrs. Spooky. From the very beginning she distinguished herself as an able agent, not to mention a thorough forensic pathologist. I enjoyed watching her display some of these talents again. She's shown time and again that although she and Mulder work together perfectly, she can function by herself without her "big brother." When she frostily told her temporary partner to call her Scully I stood up and cheered! This is the Scully I know and admire. The episode Tithonus was sort of a new twist for X-Files. Normally they have some sort of science to back up their wild theorizing, but this episode there was no scientific explanation. In fact there was no hard and damning evidence at all. But that didn't necessarily take away from the episode. Alfred Fellig was a great change from the villains we've had lately. His was a frightening presence, made more frightening because he offered no proof to Scully, just told her plainly and succinctly what had happened to him. The part with Scully getting shot was fun to watch, but predictable. I think that just shaking her scientific fundamentals and theories would have been enough. But then, I'm not Chris Carter (lucky for the viewers)."

"From last week's previews, I was not excited about this particular
episode. But after watching it, it was one of the best of the
season! I had the end figured out, but I surely didn't expect Scully's
dumbass partner to pave the road for Death. Internal Affairs is gonna
have a field day with him! I was intensely focused when the
photographer was showing Scully pictures of death in his
apartment, attempting to capture/personify Death in order to somehow
follow him to the next world. It was classic X-Files when the writers
dip us into a strange, unbelievable storyline only to push our heads
underwater as the last 15 minutes unfold, usually via the current suspect
as he attempts to explain his actions. I loved the idea of trying to capture
death itself on film; being a photographer myself, I loved the black and whites.
Mulder was right in that a life sentence for this man would have 'weighty
consequences.'"

"I thought that the episode was pretty good, but it lacked in plot. Maybe it was just me, but the whole thing with Scully getting shot at the end and living was a bit too predictable. Also, an episode of the X-Files just isn't the same without Mulder and Scully working together."

"I thought it was really great and cool how they showed the people who are about to die in black and white."

"It was good! TXF is getting better each week!"
