Exciting Lab #2 |
Did you ever play snake with a jump rope when you were a youngin'? Well, when you got the rope going at a steady pace, you were finding its resonance. This experiment involved similar ideas. We tested the resonance of three different types of strings by finding the frequency of each when the string had two nodes in its wave. Then we varied the tension of each string by adding weight to it. The three different types of string we used were just plain ol' string, fishing line, and twine. If any of you are planning to attempt this fun-filled experiment at home, just a little FYI, the fishing line was hard to see at times. |
