The detailed sets are notable in this convoluted mystery. It is set somewhere in the 19th
century in an unnamed country. When a dead woman with a shaved head and strange markings
on her belly is discovered, straight-arrow detective John Abbot is called. Suspecting that
the markings are connected to the actions of certain revolutionaries who threaten the
Christian values of his country, Abbot is on the case. Along the way he encounters a series
of very suspicious characters. --
