Hi there. My name is Kai and here is a short history of my life:

I was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1980 and grew up in Hammond, Louisiana. I'm the middle child in a family of three girls. My older sister, Kindra, graduated from college last year and lives next door to my parents. My little sister, Krista, is a high school senior. My parents have always encouraged us to be independent and succeed in life, so when I was fifteen I transferred to The Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts in Natchitoches, Louisiana. I loved going to school there and it taught me a lot about who I was and who I want to be. I graduated from there in the Spring of 1998. In the fall I started at Austin College at Sherman, Texas. All the above pictures were taken during my four years there. Right now I'm a senior, so I'll graduate in May with my B.A. in History. I caught the education bug while in college and feel that teaching is what I want to do with my life. In the future I'd like to be a high school history teacher. However, in the not-so-different future (in other words, after graduation), I'd like to get in some travel. I've only been out of the U.S. once (I went to Ireland for three weeks last January) and loved experiencing another culture. I'd really like to learn another language. I took French throughout high school and the first year of college, but since I'm so out-of-practice, I would say I speak it a little below the conversational-level.

A little information for potential au pair employers:

I've had lots of experience with children and (maybe more important) really enjoy working with kids. One of the pictures above is of me and a little boy that I have baby-sat for most of his life, including two summers when I was the family's nanny. Besides him, the family included a pre-teen daughter and a handicapped daughter. Besides baby-sitting, I've also volunteered as a tutor for elementary-aged children and done two semesters of student teaching (one with junior high students and one with high schoolers).
