Started
from 1992
Brief:
UK Top 3
hit "Virtual Insanity" kicks off the album and
encapsulates
Jamiroquai: great rnelodies and thought provoking
state-of-the-world
lyrics. Drugs are tackled also on "High Times" and love
is there in
abundance, as on the R&B inflected 'Everyday" and the
heartrending
ballad "Spend A Lifetime". The trademark didgeridoo is
back also, with
didge-meister Wallis Buchannan checking in on two of the 12
tracks.

Garbage
Members: Shirley Manson( vocals, guitar), Steve Marker(guitar, bass, samples, loops), Duke Erikson(guitars, keyboards, bass)
Brief:
Garbage's voice is Shirley Manson of Edinburgh, Scotland, who Vig says "sometimes sounds scary, sometimes dreamy, sometimes sexy, sometimes psychotic. What more could you ask for?" Answers Shirley, "It makes me feel good when someone says I sing my heart out. That's what music's about -- freedom."
Garbage was a similar project begun in 1993, yet only when Manson was imported the following year did it develop beyond its seminal idea: songs of sonic extravagance that wouldn't seem possible for a four-piece to play, but if all you had was an acoustic guitar, they'd sound like pop songs with memorable melodies and dark lyrics that maybe you shouldn't sing too loudly.

Noel Hogan: guitars, mandolin, background vocals
Mike Hogan: bass guitar
Fergal Lawler: drums and percussion
Started From: 1989
Brief:
Originally
formed in 1989, under the name "the cranberry-saw-us",
with noel hogan on guitars, mike hogan on bass, fergal on drums,
and a singer named niall quinn. the rest of the band unhappy with
niall decided to change gears in 1990 and held auditions where
they met dolores. their first song written was linger. in 1991
they made an ep, uncertain, which contained four tracks. in 1992
they released everybody else is doing it so why can't we, with
linger and dreams as singles. in 1994 they went back to the
studio and recored their follow up album, no need to argue, with
zombie, ode to my family, i can't be with you, and ridiculous
thoughts as singles. in 1996 they released to the faithful
departed (their best album to date), with salvation, free to
decide, when you're gone, and hollywood as
singles. with a lot of hard work and constant touring the
cranberries have earned their way to success.

Suede
Members: Brett Anderson, Richard Oakes, Matt Osman, Simon Gilbert and Neil Codling
Links: http://www.suede.co.uk/
http://www.nuderecords.com
Brief:
Suede are Brett Anderson, Richard Oakes, Matt Osman, Simon
Gilbert and (here's a new
one) Neil Codling, but it hasn't always been like this. Before
that there was this:
Anderson and Osman were brought up in Haywards Heath, some 40
miles away from
London, remained friends for years and formed a band as long ago
as 1989. They finally
met up with their guitarist (until 1994) Bernard Butler after he
answered an advert in the
Melody Maker and initially existed as a trio using a drum
machine. Sometime later they
met Gilbert - selling gig tickets at London's ULU, if you really
want to know - and asked
him to be their drummer. Later too, Justine Frischman(future
Elastic-ette) joined as 2nd
guitarist and the line-up was complete. The Suede story had
begun.
Various reasons for the name SUEDE :
There is a song on Morrissey's album, "Viva Hate" track
called "suedehead".
It had to do with the tragedy of beauty - comes from dead
animals.
Justine chose it because Brett had a nice suede jacket.
Brett liked the way U and E went together.
