They're colleagues by day, but PC's Matt
(Mitch Longley) and Ellen (Debbi Morgan)
have been hitting the sheets at night.

THUMBS UP!
PORT CHARLES
Crossing the Great Divide

These days, PC stands for a lot more than PORT CHARLES. The relationship of Drs. Matt Harmon and Ellen Burgess, which has just turned physical, is possibly the most p.c. - that is, politically correct - affair ever on daytime. He's disabled. She's his boss. He's white. She's black. Like it or not, even one of those elements is often enough to generate social debate. That PC has chosen to simultaneously ignore and face up to all of them can be summed up in one word: courageous.

Enormously complex, the storyline is like a tightrope - not every writer could write it, nor ever actor act it. But under the guidance of Head Writer Lynn Marie Latham and performers Debbi Morgan and Mitch Longley, Ellen and Matt's romance has taken off so well, we often forget about the societal stumbling blocks that could stand in their way.

But in the meantime, PC isn't shying away from the issues involved. Matt has already explained that his injuries do not impair him sexually. Race hasn't been a topic of discussion so far, but it could be in the future. And as for sleeping with the boss, well, Morgan is a far cry from Demi Moore in Disclosure, but it's still a definite no-no that could blow up if Matt and Ellen - and PC - take a false step on this emotional minefield.
