Cameron Gunn, the strip's artist, started his professional art career
at the age of seven when he sold handcrafted movie posters to his neighborhood
friends. Later in life, he pursued a more academic path and ended
up becoming a lawyer. All the while, though, his passion for cartooning
stuck with him, acting as both a source of enjoyment and income.
He continued to draw and became a regular cartoon contributor to the Northumberland
News, maintaining to this day that the failure of the paper had nothing
to do with his artwork. He has won awards in both local and national
art competitions and has contributed cartoons to various publications.
Norm Foster has been called "Canada's preeminent comic playwright".
He has close to 20 professionally produced plays to his credit, including
the Los Angeles Drama-Logue Award-winning "The Melville Boys". He
has had plays produced in New York City, San Francisco, Philadelphia and
as far away as London, England and Sydney, Australia. From 1995 to 1997, Norm introduced three new plays through very successful
dinner theatres, writing, directing and performing in all three.
Norm is the main writer and editor of "The Bigtop". While the
cartoon is a group effort with all three members contributing ideas, his
years of experience writing plays and developing characters are drawn upon
to ensure that the strip maintains character consistency and plot line
integrity. Above all, the strip is meant to be funny. Anyone
who has seen his work will attest to the fact that while his plays may
make you think and they may make you feel something, they certainly will
make you laugh.
