About a year after the events of Nightmare 4, Freddy returns. Only this
time he attacks people when both they and Alice are awake. They find out
that he is attacking people through the dreams of Alice's unborn baby.
Freddy kills Dan, the baby's father, and two of Alice's other friends.
Amanda Krueger tells Alice in her dreams how to defeat Freddy. Alice and
her unborn son turn against Freddy, allowing Amanda's spirit to take him
away.
MYTHOS INFORMATION:
Amanda Krueger was committed to an insane asylum when Freddy's killings started. She hung herself after his trial, but her body was never buried. Her grave at the cemetery is really just an empty plot.
Freddy was killed by the angry parents in 1968, because his mother hung herself after his trial, and her toomb stone in part 3 said 1907-1968.
In the dream sequence of the asylum where Amanda Krueger was
raped by the hundred maniacs one of the maniacs looked remarkably like
Freddy. Presumably this was his father. (Of course this man was played by
Robert Englund, the actor who plays Freddy)
BEHIND-THE-SCENES:
David Miller the make-up artist that did Freddy's make-up in the
original returned to do the makeup in this one. He took it back to the open
sore concept that he started with, but kept the hook nose that Kevin
Yagher added.
The most original effect in this movie was when Mark is turned into
a comic book character and slashed, all of his ink runs out like blood. The
comic-Mark dieing was achieved by drawing about 150 pictures of him and
drawing each one with a lower level of ink and a diferent facial expression.
They mounted the pictures on sheets of aluminum and had two holes in the
'floor' where the cells (drawings) were plugged into. They had to put each
one in the same spot or the boy would look like he was jumping around.
They shot it frame-by-frame with a background projection of the blood/ink
flowing all over the floor.
Made only $22 million, the lowest of any Nightmare
movie.
DEATHS:
Dan: (Danny Hassel): Crashes his truck into a semi
Greta (Erika Anderson): Stuffed full of food until she gags and
chokes to death
Mark (Joe Seely): Turned into a comic-book character, slashed and
all of the ink bleeds out of him
SEX/NUDITY:
The opening credits are intercut with extreme close-ups of Alice
and Dan during and after sex. Nothing is really seen.
At the beginning of the movie Alice (Lisa Wilcox) takes a shower and some rather obscured full frontal and various T&A shot is shown.
