First Blood, written back in 1972 by world renoun author David Morrell, is the beginning of the blood-savaging 3-part series in which John Rambo partakes. In "First Blood", John Rambo, played by Sylvester Stallone, is just a typical Vietnam veteran except he possesses tremendous combat skills as portrayed in "First Blood," "Rambo: First Blood Part II," and "Rambo III." Rambo, just wanting to live a peaceful life, is harassed by a local town sheriff named Will Teasle played by Brian Dennehy. Being pushed by every police enforcer he has encountered since returning from Vietnam, Rambo decides he won't be pushed aymore, it's time to fight back.
Being chased by a posse constructed of over 200 personnel, every local police officer, and every available state trooper in the area, Rambo is forced to fend for himself in the rugged country-side with only a hunter's knife. After trying to turn himself in, Rambo is forced to kill a police officer, while sporting a severly severed arm (which he sews up himself).
Rambo, after eventually being presumed dead, makes his way back to town and causes pure hell by destroying gas stations, a varitey of businesses, and the police station. Rambo is ready to kill everyone in town when his former commanding officer in Vietnam and personal mentor talks him into turning himself in.
Although now a big hit, Sylvester Stallone was extremely disappointed in "First Blood". He didn't know it would become a humungous hit as it has become. "First Blood" made over $15, 000, 000 in the box office.
