Night At The Movies

Oliver and Company (1988) (Disney)

Synopsis:
(Loosely based on Charles Dicken's Oliver)  A kitten named Oliver is teamed up with a gang of rag tag dogs in New York City.  However, Oliver is separated from the gang, and becomes the pet of Jenny, a little girl who lives on Fifth Avenue.  Jenny's home is ruled by Georgette, a pampered prize-winning poodle.  When the gang rescues Oliver, he tells them he wants to stay with Jenny, and Fagin, the human master of the team, devises a kidnapping scheme to pay back his debts to the evil Sykes.

My Rating:
The most memorable thing about the film is the music.  While a good film in its own right, it still cannot compare with the Little Mermaid, released the year following.  Still, it is enjoyable, and Disney did a good job animating New York City.
