Bob Wooton was an engineer at KTCB-17 / American Heritage Cablevision for many years, focusing on the production and news department. We can look back (now) and laugh at the times when a 3/4-inch tape would get stuck and the cries of "Where's Bob?" could be heard. Of course, a phone call to Dirty Harry's would be made and Bob would be found...

Robert A. Wooton, 70, of Council Bluffs died March 24 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital.

He was born Dec. 3, 1934, in Council Bluffs to Leslie A. and Margaret L. (Grimes) Wooton. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1954 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1975, retiring as a tech sergeant. He was also a retired Assistant Chief Engineer for Mutual of Omaha and a member of First Christian Church and the Air Force Sergeant's Association.

Mr. Wooton was preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Fields) Wooton on Sept. 14, 2003; his parents; a daughter, Cathy Bialek; a sister, Minnette McMullen; and a brother, Richard Wooton.

Survivors include a son, Robert A. Wooton Jr. of Council Bluffs; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one step-granddaughter; and a sister, Beverly Duncan of Carson City, Nev.

Visitation was held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The funeral was at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Hopkins of First Christian Church officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors given by the Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard.

Memorials may be offered to the American Heart Association.
