Soap Style Plus In the Spotlight AW's Victoria Wyndham Soap Opera Magazine August 18, 1998 Written by: Diane Clehane

The Fashion File At 5-foot-8 Wyndham's long, lean figure is ideally suited to clothes from her favorite designers: Yeohlee, Giorgio Armani, Vera Wang and Ralph Lauren. And while the actress is an avid fan of some of fashions biggest names, she rarely wears one designer head-to-toe. "I'll mix Anne Klein pants with a Yeohlee shell," she says.

For special occasions, the actress loves the elegant styles of Vera Wang and Morgane Le Fay, favorites of many Hollywood actresses because of their impeccably cut gowns. Her casual wardrobe is equally classic but a lot more relaxed. "I like the Gap and Banana Republic," says Wyndham, who has also ordered some basics from J. Crew catalogue.

To keep her look simple and chic, Wyndham never adds anything unnecessary to an outfit. "I hate accessories," she says plainly. "I carry the smallest wallet in the world, and I never carry a purse."

Since she travels around the country a great deal, Wyndham says she assembles her wardrobe with convenience and portability in mind. "I don't buy anything that needs to be pressed, and I always travel with two pairs of pants. Yeohlee's matte jersey pieces are my standbys. When I go on the road, I pack a Yeohlee jacket, an Anne Klein blouse, Banana Republic trousers and tops and Calvin Klein pants - and I always bring my steamer."

Wyndham does not believe in recreational shopping. "I shop with my finger in the fashion magazines," she explains. "I don't browse; I'm very specific about what I'm looking for." When she can, she avoids going into stores altogether, opting instead to visit designer showrooms - sometimes at the suggestion of her friend and castmate Linda Dano (Felicia). "I'm lucky that I corroborate with Shawn Dudley (AW's costume designer) and Linda," says Wyndham. "They have great taste."

The Beauty Bit Wyndham keeps her sensitive skin looking healthy by using Biomedic, a French skincare line, and never wears foundation off the set. "MAC eyeliner and mascara - that's it. And I don't wear lipstick in real life," she explains

. To care for her signature long locks, Wyndham alternates products to prevent her hair from getting "used to" any particular one. She loves Aveda and Sebastian shampoos and Paul Mitchell's detangler. The actress often cuts her own bangs and goes to the New York City salon Mike & Me for regular trims and color applications.

Wyndham keeps a healthy glow going with messages that she gets from a masseuse who lives on her property, and she tries to book treatments whenever she travels. "It helps me sleep better," she explains.

Exercising Her Options "It's a lot easier never to put weight on than to take it off," says Wyndham, adding that a regular exercise regimen of horseback riding and jogging burns plenty of calories. The actress alternates between dressage, which she describes as ballet on horseback, and running almost every day. She also says that simply getting around New York City provides her with a great opportunity to exercise. "I rarely take cabs," she explains. "I walk a lot."

Wyndham gets all the energy she needs from a diet that consists of plenty of carbohydrates, a little protein and lots of vegetables. "I find that certain foods give me all the fuel I need and keep me going," she explains. "I eat all the bread and pasta I want."

The actress admits to having a bit of a sweet tooth beneath her disciplined exterior. "I love ice cream and cookies," says Wyndham, "But you can't eat a lot of that, so I usually have plain yogurt. You can acquire a taste for things that are good for you."
