VW and CK: Couplets: Williamsburg by Mary Stanton

The Couplets show in Colonial Williamsburg was everything I expected.

So nice to see VW and CK together on stage again.

Highlights:

Two sets still made us cry, Charles' Crabbit Old Woman and Victoria's I am a Young Girl, Gay. There was a new one we don't remember Victoria doing before called MOTHER by Nagase Kiyoko that brought out the Kleenex.

Another new set to us was called HELEN by James Harrison, with Victoria being "saucy"; it was a monolog by Helen of Troy about the events of the day. *.why blame me for 100,000 men who died.*

They broke into the Couplets versus 3 times throughout the show, I remember it was pretty much after the sad stuff. And Victoria was particularly funny, speed talking through it once and ending it with a snap of her finger and twirl as if to say *ok, Charles, top THAT*! I loved the letters between Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald, because Victoria's accent on this one had a jazzy kinda southern tone to it.

Also really loved the extended TAMING OF THE SCREW segment. They did the first meeting, the pre-marriage, immediately after the marriage (leaving for home) the sun and the moon scenes, and seducing the Father (another unexpected audience participant that cracked us up). They were good, being VERY NAUGHTY.

And they were NOT able finish the Conjugation of the Paramecium! Charles made Victoria laugh so much, that she had to hold her book over her face for a few seconds. So she pulled the book down again to show a very solemn face, but for ONLY a few seconds before they gave up in giggles.

They came out after the show to talk to some remaining fans, although they were tired from the show, they looked very good and very happy to be back on stage.

Just want to say that it was SO MUCH FUN to see the performance and how well they perform together, although it has been a long time between events like this. Great show!
