N'astirh

N'astirh was the former ruler of Limbo and the being who amalgated Limbo and Manhattan during the Inferno. He was seemingly obliterated from existence during a battle with the X-Men and X-Factor. N'astirh was a master sorcerer who was infected with the transmode virus. He could infect other living beings, turning them into living circuitry, and then drain their energy into himself.


Nanny

Real Name: Inapplicable

 

Nanny was a robot construction created by Magneto and was used as a servant in his Antarctic base. When Magneto captured the X-Men and held them prisoner, Nanny was used to serve them food and also to ensure they didn't escape. Nanny was seemingly destroyed when Magneto's base exploded, but years later another Nanny robot was used by Magneto during the Trial of Gambit. Whether this was the same robot, or another construction, is unknown.

After turning against her employers in the anti-mutant group, The Right, Nanny was imprisoned within an egg-shaped cyborg battlesuit. Nanny has since dedicated her life to saving young mutants from explotation, even from the X-Men. Her assistant, the Orphan-Maker, is sent to kidnap the child and kill the parents. At one time she abducted Storm and transformed her into a small child, after which Gambit found her in a museum battling the Shadow King's minions. Nanny recently ran afoul of Generation X when she tried to kidnap a young boy thought to be a mutant, but in reality was only deformed.


Nemesis

Nemesis is the daughter of Deadly Ernest, and was a witness to her father accidentally killing her mother, an act that she swore vengeance on her father for. She created a sword using both science and sorcery so that it was only one atom's thick, and it is capable of slicing through any substance. She first encountered Alpha Flight when Northstar and Aurora were battling her father. She sliced her father to pieces and teleported away. She returned when her father was resurrected bvy Scramble and had succeeded in killing most of Alpha Flight. She managed to keep Alpha Flight alive using the life-force of Ernest's previous victims, and Puck used her sword to slay him once and for all. Nemesis died shortly after her father, crumbling into dust.

The second person to call herself Nemesis was leader of the new Gamma Flight team. She wore the same costume and used the same sword as the original, but virtually nothing is known about her.


Neophyte

Real Name: Unrevealed

First Appearance: Uncanny X-Men #300

Group Affiliation: Formerly Acolytes

 

This young boy had been found in a church in Switzerland by the Acolytes, a mutant with a phasing ability akin to Shadowcat. The Acolytes had captured Moira MacTaggert and were torturing her. Thankfully, the Neophyte betrayed the group and escaped to Earth, but was later captured and brought to Avalon where Exodus put him on trial. Colossus' quick-thinking saved him from death, and he was banished to Earth.


Nightcrawler

 

Real Name: Kurt Wagner

Powers: Teleportation, ability to blend into shadows

 

Kurt Wagner was shunned by birth due to his having blue skin, pointed ears, fangs, and a long pointed tail. Abandoned by his mother (whom until recently he did not know was Mystique), he was adopted into a family of gypsies and became a circus performer. He was approached by Charles Xavier to join the X-Men after the disappearance of the original team. After many adventures, Kurt was severely wounded during the Mutant Massacre by the Marauder called Riptide. He was taken to Muir Island where he recuperated, but discovered that he could no longer teleport as he originally could, and that teleporting others caused a great strain. After hearing of the "death" of the X-Men during the Fall Of The Mutants, he, along with Shadowcat, Captain Britain, and Meggan became the founding members of Excalibur. He became team leader after Captain Britain's disappearance into the time-stream, and has remained leader even after Captain Britain's return.


Nikolai

Nikolai is a member of the Undead, a group of reanimated dead mutants in the year 2099. He bore a more-than-passing resemblance to Colossus.


Northstar

 

Real Name: Jean-Paul Beaubier

First Appearance: Uncanny X-Men #120

Known Relatives: Jeanne-Marie Beaubier (Aurora, sister)

Group Affiliation: Formerly Alpha Flight

Major Enemies: Master

Powers: Flight, Super speed, Light projection (when in contact with Aurora)

 

Separated from his twin-sister Jeanne-Marie as an infant after their parents were killed in a car-crash, Jean-Paul was adopted and led a lonely life, eventually becoming a world-champion skiier. He was then contacted by James Hudson, who had discovered his sister and found out about Jean-Paul through her, and he joined Hudson's Alpha Flight. Northstar has revelaed publicly that he is homosexual. Northstar's whereabouts were unknown until after the reformation of Alpha Flight, when he came crashing down out of the sky onto a fishing trawler.


Nostromo

Nostromo possesses a healing factor that replaces damaged organic material with a bio-cybernetic material. Nostromo was actually a scout for a Phalanx invasion of Earth in the year 2099. The Phalanx were defeated, and all traces of them were removed from Nostromo. It was then revealed that Doom 2099 had planned for Nostromo to become ruler of Latveria in his stead, and when Doom was discovered dead after the battle with the Phalanx, Nostromo ascended the throne of Latveria.


Number One Fan

Cause of Death: Killed by Vic Chalker

Powers: Whirling blades for hands

 

Number One Fan was one of the inept Chalker brothers, who's super-villain career was cut short (before it even started!) by decapitating himself with the blades he had for hands. Resurrected by Charon in his quest to get revenge on mutants, Number One Fan was killed again in battle with X-Factor.
