Warbird

Carol Danvers was once known as Ms. Marvel, until Rogue stripped her of her powers and left her near death. After a slow recovery during which she stayed with the X-Men, Carol was captured and experimented on by the Brood which resulted in her absorbing massive amounts of stellar energy. This resulted in her becoming Binary, with the power of a living star at her command. Joining the Starjammers, they defeated the Brood with the assistance of the X-Men, and she remained with them. Later leaving the Starjammers, Carol returned to Earth and when the heroes returned from the pocket dimension they had been trapped in following the threat known as Onslaught, Carol rejoined the Avengers, taking the codename Warbird.


Warpath

Real Name: James "Jimmy" Proudstar

James Proudstar is an Apache indian, and grew up on a reservation with his elder brother James. When James died whilst a member of the X-Men, Jimmy was devastated. Recruited by Emma Frost to join her team of Hellions and he vowed revenge against the X-Men. He sought out Charles Xavier whom he blamed for his brother's death, but dropped his vendetta when he discovered Xavier was not to blame. He declined Xavier's offer to join the New Mutants, and instead re-joined the Hellions as their leader. After a while, James left the Hellions to return home to his people. Travelling to New York, he was made an offer by Cable to join X-Force, but James initially refused. Returning home, he found the reservation destroyed, seemingly by the Hellfire Club. Enraged, he accepted Cable's offer and joined X-Force with the hope of using them to avenge his tribe's death. Over the years, Warpath's strength and speed have slowly increased. He has even stood toe-to-toe with the Juggernaut. Whilst with X-Force, James developed an attraction to Siryn, but chose to keep his feelings to himself in order to help her as a friend through her alcohol addiction. He eventually confronted Emma Frost over the death of his people, but she convinced him that it was not the Hellfire Club that was responsible. After an encounter with the Mimic, James found that his senses were heightening at an extreme rate. He left X-Force for a brief while after meeting Risque, who had seduced him. His sense of loyalty, however, forced him to return to the team.


Weasel

Real Name: Jack Hammer

Weasel is Deadpool's weapon supplier and some-time friend. Although the two seem to have known each other for some time, Weasel still doesn't know many things about the reclused Deadpool. Sometimes paranoid with his own safety, Weasel manages to survive Deadpool's life-style. Back in his college days, Weasel was a prominent scientist, with an almost assured job at Osborn Chemicals. But when Deadpool was thrown back in time and needed his help, young Jack's life was drastically altered - losing the position at Osborn Chemicals and ending up becoming a mercenary.


Wild Child

Real Name: Kyle Gibney

Former Aliases: Wildheart, Weapon Omega

Powers: Enhanced senses, healing factor

 

Kyle Gibney was kicked out of home at an early age when his parents discovered he was a mutant. Taken in by the Secret Empire, he was subjected to experiments in their attempt to create the perfect killing machine and was injected with DNA from the assassin Wyre which caused his beastial side to emerge. After Wyre rebelled and destroyed the base, Kyle was discovered in the wreckage by the Canadian government and taken to Department H where he was placed into the Gamma Flight training team. When the government cut funding to the team he disappeared, and was later recruited by Delphine Courtney to join Omega Flight. After their attack on Alpha Flight, he was captured and imprisoned. He eventually escaped and went on a killing spree. He almost killed Heather Hudson but was stopped by Wolverine. Kyle was later pardoned for his activities and joined the second Gamma Flight team, eventually joining Alpha Flight. When Alpha was disbanded he slowly slipped into a berserk rage once more and savagely attacked Pathway. Teleported away by Nemesis, his whereabouts were unknown until he returned as Weapon Omega, seemingly cured of his rages. He eventually rejoined Alpha Flight as Wildheart. Offered a place in X-Factor by Val Cooper, he accepted and has served with them since. It seems he has fallen for Shard, even though she is a living hologram.


Willow

Real Name: Unrevealed

Willow is a metamorph, able to change into any form she desires.


Windshear

Real Name: Colin Ashworth Hume

First Appearance: Alpha Flight #87

Group Affiliation: Formerly Alpha Flight, Roxxon

Powers: "Hard air" generation

 

Colin Hume was an employee of the Roxxon corporation. He helped Box and Forge when it was discovered Roxxon had captured James Hudson. After freeing Hudson, Hume was invited to join Alpha Flight which he did. Windshear has the mutant power of generating "hard air". He can project this as blasts of air at great speed, or create constructs out of it. He also wears a suit of armour which enables him to fly. Windshear served as an active member of Alpha Flight until taking on the role of Chief Administrator for the team. After the disbandment of Alpha Flight, Windshear's whereabouts are unknown.


Wisdom, Pete

Real Name: Peter Wisdom

First Appearance: Excalibur #86

Powers: Hot knife generation

 

Pete Wisdom was a field agent for the secretive organisation known as Black Air. He was a mutant with the power to generate hot knives of fire and psionically project them at a target. Attracted to Kitty Pryde at first sight, Wisdom left Black Air when he discovered their plans to aid the alien Uncreated in taking over the Earth. Shortly after, Black Air captured Douglock and planned to use him as a link to control the eldritch energies of a demon trapped below London. When their plan failed, Excalibur managed to stop the demon and, thanks to Wisdom's leaking of sensitive information about Black Air to the press, managed defeat Black Air once and for all. Wisdom has remained with the team since and he and Kitty Pryde have fallen in love.


Witchfire

Real Name: Ananym (full name unrevealed)

First Appearance: Alpha Flight #76

Known Relatives: Belasco (father)

Powers: Magical

 

Not much is known about the young woman known as Witchfire, apart from the fact that she is a talented sorceress who also has a demonic side that she struggles to control. She was a member of the second Gamma Flight led by Nemesis, and afterwards was a brief member of Alpha Flight before being relegated to the training team Beta Flight. After the disbandment of Alpha Flight, and the subsequent disbandment of Beta Flight, Witchfire's whereabouts are unknown.


Wolfsbane

Real Name: Rahne Sinclair

First Appearance: Uncanny X-Men #94

Known Relatives: Moira MacTaggert (foster mother)

Powers: Lycanthropic shape-shifting

 

Rahne Sinclair was an orphan who was raised by Reverand Craig. When her mutant power to shape-shift into a wolf first manifested, the Reverend believed she was possessed by the devil and attempted to conduct an exorcism. Rahne was rescued by Moira MacTaggert who adopted her. Moira took Rahne to Charles Xavier who inducted her into the New Mutants team to train her to better use her powers. After many years with the team, Rahne was eventually captured by the Genoshans and underwent the mutate bonding process, genetically programmed to obey then-magistrate Alex Summers. After being rescued by the X-Men, Rahne was invited to join the newly-formed government team of X-Factor, which she did due to her genetic bonding to Havok, who was X-Factor's leader. After being cured of the genetic bonding by Haven, she left X-Factor and returned to Muir Island where she became a member of Excalibur.


Wolverine

The past of the man known only as Logan is still a mystery to most, even to himself. Originally discovered in the wilds of Canada by James Hudson and his wife Heather, Wolverine was in a feral state. Brought back to humanity by the Hudson's, Wolverine eventually helped James Hudson form Alpha Flight, leading the initial team code-named First Flight before eventually leaving. It was since revealed that Logan had been subject to experiments in the Weapon X program as well as being given false memory implants. Wolverine joined the X-Men when approached by Charles Xavier, and has remained with the team since. He has recently lost his adamanitum when it was removed by Magneto. Genesis attempted to reintegrate the adamantium into Wolverine's system, but Logan rejected it and started regressing back into a feral state. Brought back onto the path to humanity by Elektra, Wolverine still possesses claws of bone as well as a healing factor that can heal almost any injury. Wulf

Formerly a member of the gang known as the Wild Boyz, Wulff fled and found his way to Halo City where he was recruited by Morphine Somers to join X-Nation. Wulff is a mutant with enhanced senses and a feral nature. After the great flood, Wulff and Uproar were captured by the Wild Boyz and taken to their leader, who was revealed to be the Vulture 2099. The Vulture triggered an emotional change in Wulff which resulted in him transforming into a humanoid wolf. After the Wild Boyz were defeated, Wulff left to pursue his own destiny.
