Chapter One

Athena Cassadine was sitting on a bench by a cliff on her family's estate, Wyndemere, deep in thought. "Thena!" a voice shrieked. Athena jumped, not expecting anyone. She turned to see her twin sister Kyra rushing through the grass towards her, clutching something in her hand. Kyra practically ran over to her. "What're you doing out here? I've been looking for you everywhere!" Kyra asked breathlessly as she plunked herself down beside her twin.

The twins were identical with long, dark hair and wide blue eyes. They had just turned twenty-two years old two months earlier, in June. Athena was the more serious twin, the twin who could be depended on for an ear to listen. Athena liked to spend her time writing, reading, horseback riding, and spending time with her longtime boyfriend, Jason Morgan. Athena was loyal and sensitive, something Kyra wasn't always. Kyra could be described as a bird in flight, always on the go. Whether working or shopping or even hanging out with friends, Kyra always had the impression of being ready to move. She was outgoing & independent, though loyal. Kyra & Athena were both fiercely protective of their family, and more so of each other.

Athena smiled patiently now, wondering what had make Kyra so hyper this time. "I was just looking out over the cliff, enjoying the peace & quiet. You should try it sometime, Kyra," teased Athena. Kyra made a face at her twin. "Not all of us are perfect like you," Kyra affectionately teased back. "Anyway, guess what just came for me? This!" Kyra handed Athena a beautiful red rose. Athena breathed in the lovely scent, and then looked questioningly at her twin. "Who sent you this?" "I don't know," sighed Kyra. "The card said 'From your Secret Admirer'. Isn't that romantic?" Athena rolled her eyes. Sometimes her sister acted like they were in high school again. "Have you shown Nik yet?" Nikolas, their twenty-four brother, was the twins' hero. The two adored him, and he adored them in return. "He's over at Mom's, helping Lucky with something," answered Kyra with a frown. Athena frowned herself. Their relationship with their half-brother Lucky was something that Athena hated.

Nikolas, Athena & Kyra had been led to believe all their lives that their mother was forced to have them and then abandoned them when the twins were first born. Their Uncle Stefan raised them, until they were fifteen & seventeen years old, respectively. One day, Stefan announced they were moving and left no room for objection. They arrived in Port Charles, having no clue of their history there. Finally, it was discovered that their real mother, Laura Webber, lived in town & not only that, she was married with two other children of her own, twenty year old Lucky & eight year old Lesley Lu, affectionately known as Lulu. Furious, all three kids would have nothing to do with her, until their little sister was sick & only Nikolas who could save her. At that point, Laura began to rebuild her relationship with all three children, and helped Lesley Lu to adjust to having another brother & two sisters. But Lucky wouldn't accept them and made their life miserable every chance he got. Finally Lucky & Nikolas were able to put the past behind them & become friends, but Lucky still wouldn't accept Kyra or Athena. Another factor in the mix was the longtime Spencer/Cassadine feud, started by Luke Spencer & Mikkos Cassadine. Mikkos & his wife Helena were the grandparents of Nikolas, Athena & Kyra. Their father was Stavros, Mikkos & Helena?s firstborn son. Stefan was Mikkos & Helena?s second son. Nikolas & Lucky were determined to end the twenty-three year feud that still dominated the elder members of their family.

"Nice of him to ask us if we wanted to come," Athena muttered. Kyra laughed. "Thena, you're starting to sound like me. We don't need Nikolas to take us to our mother's -- we can go ourselves. We have to stop letting Lucky think he bothers us enough that we won't go & see mom & Lulu when he's there. Laura & Lesley Lu are my family too, and I am not going to let Lucky push me around," vowed Kyra. Athena's face brightened at Kyra's determination. "Actually, I was thinking of seeing Emily today too," Athena admitted. "Let's take the launch and go to town? Have lunch there and maybe do some shopping?" Kyra's eyes sparkled; shopping was something she loved to do. Emily Quartermaine was the sister of Athena's boyfriend & a close friend of the twins. "Let's go," Kyra exclaimed, jumping up. Athena grinned and stood up. As much as she enjoyed her peace and quiet, she enjoyed spending time with her twin more.

"Andreas!" screeched Helena Cassadine from her bedroom on her yacht. "Yes, Madame," Andreas said quietly, entering the room. "Are all the plans ready for Luke Spencer?" asked Helena, licking her lips in anticipation.  "Yes, madame. All your plans are set," answered Andreas. Helena was finishing off her latest revenge plan on the Spencers. "I told Luke years ago he would pay for killing my dear Mikkos & Stavros," Helena frowned. "People should know better than to mess with me." "Are we going to be leaving soon, Madame?" asked Andreas hopefully. "Soon, Andreas, soon," Helena said distractedly.

Andreas sighed with relief that Helena hadn't noticed his anxiousness. He wanted to get into town in the hopes of seeing Kyra Cassadine. Andreas had a huge crush on his employer's granddaughter. When he was in the same room with Kyra, Andreas was struck dumb. His mind whirled, trying to think of ideas for a possible conversation. He was hoping one day to ask Kyra out on a date. Andreas dreamed at night of her long, dark hair laying on the pillow next to his, her body nestled against his. But he frowned now, knowing Helena would never let that happen.

"Andreas! Are you deaf?" Andreas snapped out of his reverie at the sound of Helena's voice. "I was trying to give you some instructions," Helena said, irritated. "My apologies, Madame. I think I might be coming down with some sort of bug," he apologized, blushing. "My poor Andreas," soothed Helena, touching his face. "You are warm. Do you want to stay home today?" Helena asked with a sly wink. "No, madame, your plans are important," Andreas said quickly. Helena's face snapped to attention. "You're right. Smart thinking, Andreas." Helena began to rattle on about her plans while Andreas stared past her to a picture of Nikolas, Athena & Kyra. His gaze focused on Kyra, and he smiled a small half-smile.

"Lucky, you sure don't ask for a lot, do you?" asked Nikolas, heaving as he lifted a heavy box in the basement of Laura's house. "She's your mother too, I don't think I should've had to ask," grunted Lucky, lifting a box up as well. Both boys were helping their mother clear out the basement & attic of old stuff for a garage sale/fundraiser Laura was having. The proceeds would go to the Outreach Program at General Hospital, of which Laura was director. All five of Laura's children were helping her with the garage sale. "You know, Athena & Kyra would've been a big help today," Nikolas said as they carried the boxes downstairs. "Don't start," warned Lucky. "Start what? Trying to help you develop a relationship with your sisters?" asked Nikolas, frustrated.

Almost three years ago, Helena kidnapped Lucky and made everyone believe he was dead. It was yet another scheme to get revenge on Luke & Laura. When he was discovered to be alive, Lucky was a lot different than the person he'd been before Helena kidnapped him. Helena had turned him against Luke & Laura, but Lucky was finally getting past that and getting along with Laura again. But for some reason, he was even worse than before when it came to the twins.

"Lucky, you'd probably get along really well with Kyra, if you'd try. Athena too, but you & Kyra are a lot alike." Nikolas offered. Lucky turned on his brother. "Nikolas, stop. You're my brother, it's great we're close & we can hang together, but stop pushing the twins on me. They shouldn't have been born, and I don't want them around, okay?" Nikolas remained silent, wanting to defend his sisters, but not wanting to upset Lucky further. "Funny, Lucky, but you're the only one who feels that way. And I don't ever want to hear you say that the twins shouldn't have been born, do you understand me?" a soft voice said from the other side of the room. Lucky's face flushed as he eyed his mother. "I have a right to my opinion," he said levelly. "As spoiled & selfish as that opinion might be?" Laura asked quietly. "Your sisters don't deserve your wrath, Lucky. I do, and you know that. The least you could do is be civil & somewhat friendly to them." "Maybe it's I who never should have been born then," Lucky said coldly, turning around and walking out of the room. Laura sighed & turned to Nikolas. "I wish I knew how to get through to him," whispered Laura as she sank into a nearby chair. Nikolas shook his head. "Me too, Mom. But I think Athena understands. She doesn't like it, but she understands." "And Kyra?" Laura met her eldest son's eyes. Nikolas looked away. "She hates Lucky right now," he admitted. Laura sighed. "I was afraid of that. She's always been the headstrong One.  Although Laura enjoyed her children, she found Kyra to be difficult to handle at times "Is there anything we can do?" Laura asked. Nikolas grinned. He'd been waiting for a question like that. "The way I see it, Mom, is Kyra & Lucky are both acting like children. We should treat them like it." Laura smiled and nodded to the chair beside her. "Sit, and tell me what you have in mind."

Chapter Two

Kyra was sitting on a bench on the docks, waiting for Athena & Emily to come back to get her. Kyra had wanted to sketch an ocean picture; she was going to paint it for her mother. Laura was always telling Kyra how much she loved the water. Kyra liked to draw & paint, it was one of her favorite hobbies. Emily & Athena had went to Kelly's for takeout and would be back any minute. "Well, hello dear," Kyra heard a voice say. She looked up to see her grandmother & Andreas walking towards her. "Grandmother," said Kyra formally, standing to greet Helena. Then she smiled "Hello, Andreas." Helena glared at her. "Do you get those improper manners from your mother?" Helena snapped. "Of course I do, Grandmother," Kyra smiled sweetly. "I think you've been asked numerous times to stay away from Athena, Nikolas & myself. Why don't you go bother Lucky?" Nikolas, Athena & Kyra all disliked Helena immensely, but only Kyra encouraged Helena when it came to Lucky. Helena smiled charmingly "You really should be nice to your brother, Kyra dear. He is your blood, and blood is thicker than water." "Unfortunately," added Kyra.

Andreas stared at Kyra, glad for once that he never said much when he was with Helena. She was so beautiful, and she held herself so well against Helena. Andreas knew he never would. Not after she killed his twin brother, Ari. Andreas would kiss Helena's feet before risking her wrath. He tuned back into what Kyra was saying.

"...Leaving to find Athena & Emily," Kyra said. "How nice that you & your sister are having a girl's day with Emily," smiled Helena. "Yes, it's nice to have friends, isn't it? Too bad you don't have any," Kyra whirled around and strode away. Helena sighed. "What a rude child." She turned to Andreas. "You stay here and wait for me, dear boy. I'll be back after I do my errands. Remember, keep an eye out for Luke. " Andreas nodded. "As you wish, madam." He sat on the bench and then noticed Kyra left her pad there. He flipped to her sketch of the water and gasped. "That bad, huh?" a voice interrupted his thoughts. Andreas looked up to see Kyra watching him. "No, Miss Cassadine. To the contrary, it's wonderful." Kyra smiled and sat down beside him. "Thanks. It's a drawing for my mother, or shouldn't I be telling you that?" Andreas didn't know what to say; this was his dream coming true. "That's a nice gesture. I'm sure she will like it a lot," he said quietly. "So you can talk. I always wondered if you were really a robot my grandmother got from somewhere," teased Kyra with a smile. Andreas returned her smile. "I assure you, Miss Cassadine, I am no robot." "Kyra, please," she said easily. "Kyra," mumbled Andreas, blushing. "Is something wrong? Am I pushing you or something?" inquired Kyra, noticing his blush. "Not at all. I guess...." Andreas stammered, not knowing what to say to her. "I guess it's just hard talking to someone so beautiful," he finally said. Kyra was flattered. "Thank you. I don't think I'm beautiful, though." "Oh, but you are!" exclaimed Andreas without thinking. Kyra turned to him, surprised at the force with which he spoke. "I mean, don't sell yourself short. You really are beautiful, Kyra. You & Athena," he added. Kyra nodded, disappointed. Andreas felt like kicking himself. "Ever go horseback riding?" The question came so causally, Andreas almost had to ask Kyra to repeat herself. "No, I can't say that I have," he answered. "We have horses at Wyndemere. Want to try it sometime?" asked Kyra. "I don't think Madame will like that," Andreas said, wishing he could. "Don't you ever get days off?" Kyra asked incredulously. "Yes, but I usually don't really take them," answered Andreas. "Well, now you can. I mean, if you really are human, you might as well do human things." Kyra found herself intrigued by Andreas.

Athena & Kyra spent many a day & night talking about Helena & Andreas, wondering if he had been brainwashed by Helena or whether or not he was afraid for his life. Kyra had wanted to befriend him, Athena thought it best to stay out of it because of Helena. "So I can't be friendly to her sidekick?" Kyra was disgusted that she had to bow to Helena, and vowed to one day befriend Andreas. He certainly needed more friends in life than just Helena.

"When is your next day off?" asked Kyra. "Tomorrow," answered Andreas hesitantly. "I'll see you at Wyndemere then, around 2 o'clock?" Kyra smiled at Andreas, standing up and glancing at her watch. Andreas was going to object, but Kyra cut him off. "No excuses. Now, I must go find my sister & Emily. See you tomorrow!" Kyra grabbed her sketch book & took off, intent on finding her twin. Andreas was left sitting on the bench, in stunned happiness.

Stefan was sitting in his office at Wyndemere when half-sister Alexis walked in. "She's at it again," announced Alexis. "If you're referring to my mother's latest attempt at trying to gain control over Nikolas's inheritance, I am well aware of that, Alexis," answered Stefan calmly. "I meant Kyra," Alexis said. "What is the matter with Kyra, Alexis?" Stefan sighed at the mention of his headstrong niece. As much as he loved her, she could be exhausting at times. "I just overheard a conversation on the docks between Helena & Kyra. Kyra told Helena she had no friends basically got into a mini-fight with Helena before walking away. I swear, Stefan, that girl doesn't learn. What if Helena does something to her as the result of Kyra's mouth?" Stefan grinned. Kyra certainly was a little spitfire when it came to Helena. Stefan had told her repeatedly not to antagonize Helena for her own safety, but Kyra would just lift her chin defiantly & announce that she was old enough to take care of herself. "She's just like her mother; independent," Stefan chuckled. "I'm glad you're amused by this but you won't be if your mother decides to do something about Kyra," warned Alexis. "I'll handle it, Alexis. Is there anything else?" Stefan looked at Alexis firmly & then down at his papers, indicating their conversation was finished. Miffed at being "dismissed" Alexis turned to leave. "Keep treating me like someone not worthy of your time, Stefan, and you won't have me when you need me most," she vowed & left. Stefan looked at the doorway thoughtfully, his mind already on his niece.

The next morning Nikolas woke with a start. It was the day before the garage sale; but Nikolas knew that wasn't what woke him. It was the look on Kyra's face the night before at dinner. It was like the cat who swallowed the canary. Nikolas knew when his sister was hiding something, and it always concerned him. Nikolas had tried cornering Athena, but she swore she knew nothing. "Kyra hasn't told me anything yet," she promised. Nikolas, unsure of whether to believe her, made a face. "It must be really big then," groaned Nikolas. Athena laughed "Don't worry about it, she'll tell me -- you know how Kyra is at keeping secrets." "Just make sure she's not digging herself into some big hole, okay?" Nikolas pleaded. "I will, big brother," promised Athena.

Nikolas decided to confront Kyra himself - before she got herself into trouble. He got out of bed and headed to her bedroom. Knocking on the door, Nikolas tried to harden himself before she answered. Remaining firm with the twins was something he found hard, since they were all so close. The door swung open & Nikolas faced a sleepy Kyra, rubbing her eyes. "Nik, have you ever heard of sleeping?" snapped Kyra, her usual morning self as she faced her older brother. "I want to talk you," answered Nikolas, pushing her aside and walking into her bedroom.

Kyra's room was painted purple & red, the colours of royalty. Everything in the room matched her decor. Her queen size four poster bed was to the right of the doorway, her dresser & night table to the right of that. On the left hand side of the room, Kyra had a purple plush chair & a red bean bag chair. She had a desk with a computer & a stand with a tv/vcr on it. Nikolas sat in the purple chair & waited silently for Kyra to sit with him.

"Gee, Nikolas, would you like to come in and have a seat?" Kyra said sarcastically, shutting the door and plopping back on her bed. "Don't get sarcastic with me, Kyra. You're my sister, and when I want to talk to you, I will." Nikolas retorted. "What's going on with you?" "What do you mean?" Kyra asked, puzzled. "Last night you were like a cat who swallowed a canary. What scheme are you planning now and who does it involve?" Nikolas asked bluntly. "Nikolas," smiled Kyra. "I love you a lot, but I am way past the age where you get to know my every plan & my every move. But I appreciate your concern." "Kyra," Nikolas began. Kyra held up her hand. "I am being incredibly serious, Nik. I am twenty-two years old, I'm not a baby anymore. Now, please leave my room. I have plans later today and I want to get ready." Nikolas took one look at her face and knew it was no use. The only one that could get through to Kyra when she didn't want to talk was Athena. Nikolas stood up and headed for Kyra's door. "You win for now, Kyra. But don't let me catch you in any trouble. You want to be treated like a twenty-two year old, prove to me that you can act like one." He slammed the door behind him. Kyra was left shaking her head as her brother left. Nikolas' threats didn't bother her, and she planned on doing whatever she wanted anyway.

Chapter Three

"And the next thing I knew, Nikolas & Kyra were fighting," finished Athena. She was at her boyfriend Jason's penthouse, telling him about the fight her siblings had that morning. Jason leaned over and kissed Athena's nose. They were sitting on Jason's couch, holding hands. "Don't worry about it, I'm sure they'll get over it. You know Kyra -- her schemes are always harmless," Jason grinned. Jason was very amused by Kyra. Although he wouldn't trade Athena for anything, Jason & Kyra were excellent friends, and Jason admired her spunk. Athena shook her finger at Jason. "You shouldn't encourage her, you know. She's incorrigible at times." "Yes, but you love her, and she's fairly harmless," Jason answered, pretending to duck as Athena thumped him on the head. "Alright, Athena, I'll go right over there and throw Kyra over my shoulder and spank her until she starts talking. Will that satisfy you?" Jason teased. "Hey, that's not a half-bad idea," remarked Athena. "All kidding aside, Jase, I wonder what's going on with her. Especially after her run-in with Helena yesterday & her attitude about Lucky. I just hope she doesn't do anything stupid." "I'm sure she won't," Jason assured her. "Now, enough about your family. Let's move on to a more important topic -- us." "Sounds like a plan. What about "us" in particular did you want to talk about?" asked Athena with a smile. "Have you thought any more about you moving in here with me?" Jason asked softly. Athena looked away. Jason had asked her a month ago to move in with him, something he considered to be the 'next step' in their relationship. Athena was hesitating, knowing how devastated her twin would be if she moved out. Athena wanted to wait until Kyra found a man of her own, something she knew was frustrating Jason. "Yes, Jase, I have. I still think it's not the right time," answered Athena. Silently, Jason stood & headed over to the window. Tears filled Athena's eyes & she walked over to him. Resting her cheek on his back, she whispered "Please don't be mad, Jase. Please be patient with me." Jason turned and wrapped his arms around her. "Anything for you, Athena. But try not to make me wait too long, okay?" he smiled. "Okay. Now, let's go for lunch," Athena said. Jason nodded and took her hand, leading her out the door.

When the doorbell rang, Kyra rushed over to it and opened it. "Andreas!" she cried, delighted. "Boy, you look so different! You look very handsome," she grinned, staring Andreas up & down. Andreas flushed; he was wearing jeans and a white long-sleeved shirt. "You look beautiful too, Kyra," Andreas smiled. Kyra stepped out on the porch, shutting the door behind her and curtsied. "Thank you. Let's go!" she headed towards the stables in her jeans, yellow shirt & black vest. Kyra had her dark hair pulled back into a ponytail & was wearing riding boots. They arrived at the stables and Kyra led the way over to two already saddled horses. "This is my palomino, Amber," Kyra said to Andreas. "And this gelding is Ghost. I thought he'd be gentle for you, since you've never ridden before." Andreas nodded and watched while Kyra gracefully boosted herself into Amber's saddle. He awkwardly followed suit, taking the reins once he was in the saddle. They started off at a slow trot, and Andreas began to relax as he got the hang of riding.   As they were riding. they talked about everything from their lives, their families to their dreams. After awhile the conversation turned to Helena, how everyone hated her, how dangerous she was & why Andreas was working for. "You shouldn't antagonize her," admonished Andreas. "I just want her to stay away from me & my siblings. Is it my fault she doesn't listen?" Kyra asked stubbornly. "Maybe not, Kyra, but you are endangering your life. Trust me, I know what she is capable of. She killed my twin brother!" Andreas had a twin brother, Ari, who worked for Helena before Andreas had. Ari had been loyal to Helena, until one day when he betrayed her by helping Stefan foil one of Helena's plans. Once she discovered this, Helena had Ari killed. Kyra nodded sympathetically. "Promise me you'll stop trying to get to her," Andreas pleaded. "Why do you care so much?" asked Kyra curiously, not answering his question. "Because I care about you," he answered. Kyra was about to answer when something caught her eye. "There's something I want to show you," Kyra told Andreas, heading her horse towards an abandoned looking cottage to the right. They tethered their horses to the tree, where Kyra gave them food & water. She then grabbed her saddlebags & led Andreas inside the cottage.

It took Andreas a few moments to adjust to the dimness of the cottage, but when he did, he liked what he saw. To the immediate left of him was a kitchen with a fridge, stove & even cupboards. There was a small table with four chairs beside it, on a small rug. On the left hand side as what looked like a family room -- a couch, chair, tv & tv stand littered the room. Towards the back of the cottage there were two doors, which Andreas assumed was a bedroom & bathroom. "Is this your cottage?" he asked softly. Kyra shook her head. "I found this one day when I was out riding -- it's a nice place to come when I want to be alone." "Have you told anyone else about it?" asked Andreas. "Just Athena," answered Kyra. "And she's been sworn to secrecy." "I am very honoured that you would share this with me as well," Andreas told Kyra.

Kyra found herself staring at Andreas's form, wondering what it would be like to be in his arms. From their time together that day, Kyra knew that Andreas was just the type of man she'd been looking for all her life. 'But he'd never look at me,' she thought in her head. 'I'm a kid to him -- besides, he works for my grandmother.' She found herself thinking 'too bad' because she really liked Andreas.

"I feel like I can trust you, Andreas. That's why I told you," Kyra admitted softly. Andreas smiled widely. "I trust you too, Kyra." Kyra turned away and set the saddle bags down on the table. "I present lunch, or a snack, if you will. Fried Chicken, some potato salad & a little chocolate cake. And," Kyra added, pulling out two cans. "Lemonade!" Kyra went over to the cupboard where she had stored some plastic plates, napkins & utensils. "In case I ever needed them," Kyra blushed. "What a lovely idea, Kyra. Thank you," Andreas was pleased as he sat down at the table. While they ate, they talked some more, discovering they had a lot in common with each other. After lunch, Andreas went to explore the cottage while Kyra threw out their garbage. After she was done, Kyra headed to the bedroom, where he was looking out the window. "It's a wonderful little cottage," Andreas said softly when he saw Kyra.

Perhaps it was the cottage or perhaps it was the feelings flowing through her body, but Kyra found herself heading towards Andreas. She stood in front of him, not sure what to do or say. Andreas hesitantly reached out and touched her cheek. "Kyra," he whispered. Helplessly, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to him. Kyra rested her head against his body, listening to his heart beating. "Andreas," she said softly. "Do you believe in two souls being connected?" Andreas was so elated to be holding Kyra in his arms that he almost missed the question. "Yes, I do." Kyra lifted her face to look in Andreas's eyes. Andreas leaned down and gently kissed her soft lips. Kyra's pulse quickened and her heart pounded. Finally, they broke the kiss, both breathless. Kyra sank down on the bed, trying to catch her breath. Andreas looked stunned, not quite believing what just happened. "Are you okay?" he asked softly, shaking himself out of it. He wanted to apologize to her, but knew he wasn't sorry for kissing her. A wide, silly grin formed across Kyra's face. "I'm perfect," she breathed. Looking up at Andreas, she blushed. "I enjoyed that." Andreas laughed and sat down beside her. "I enjoyed that too, Kyra," he whispered. "But if you don't want me to do it again, you'd better stop me." With that, he lowered his lips to hers, enjoying the feel of her breath on his face, her tongue in his mouth & his in hers. When they finally broke away, Kyra was dizzy with joy.

"Kyra," whispered Andreas, touching her cheek. "I've dreamed of kissing you & touching you for so long now." "Really?" asked Kyra. "Why didn't you say anything?" "What was I supposed to say, Kyra?" Andreas asked bitterly. "That I'm in love with my employer's granddaughter? That while my employer makes eyes at me, I'm making eyes at her granddaughter's picture?" Kyra laughed in spite of the seriousness of it. "I'm flattered, Andreas, but I do understand your hesitancy to say anything. That begs the question -- what now? Do we just forget that we kissed and go back to our 'other' lives?" Andreas stood up & stared out the bedroom window, dejected. "I don't know, Kyra," he answered honestly. "We can't tell the truth, for obvious reasons. But I don't think it's fair to ask you to sneak around to see me." Kyra held up a hand. "Let me decide what is fair for me to do. You haven't asked me if I even want to continue to see you," she added. Andreas tried to smother the fear he felt by her comment and nodded. "Yes, of course. I understand, you don't want to see me again," he began. A laugh bubbled in Kyra's throat as she jumped up beside him & put her arms around him. "Andreas, I very much want to see you again -- as much as possible. If that means keeping our relationship a secret for now, so be it. As long as I can see you, okay?" Andreas could scarcely believe it, but didn't hesitate. "That sounds reasonable," he grinned, wrapping his own arms around Kyra. He leaned down & kissed her again, reluctantly tearing himself away as he noticed darkness falling outside. "Perhaps we should get back before we are missed," Andreas suggested. Hating the idea, Kyra nodded. "As long as you promise we can see each other soon," she whispered, looking devastated. Andreas smiled, pleased that Kyra was as upset as he to leave. "I promise, and I'll seal it with a kiss." Andreas kissed her again, and Kyra almost lost her will to leave. She willed herself to pull away and led Andreas out to the kitchen so she could grab her saddlebags.

They mounted their horses and rode slowly hand-in-hand back to the stables. Just before they arrived, they let go of each other's hands & Andreas promised to call Kyra on her cell phone as soon as he could. "I love you," he said quietly. "I love you too," Kyra whispered in return. The stable hands greeted them as they arrived & dismounted. "We'll take care of them for you, Miss Cassadine," one of them said. Kyra nodded & led Andreas out to the front of the house & down to the launch. "Thank you for the nice day, Kyra," Andreas said for the ears that could be listening. He winked at her so that she knew he meant much more than that. "You're welcome, Andreas," she returned softly. Andreas blew a quick kiss to Kyra before boarding the launch that would take him back to town. Kyra stood there and watched the launch until it was out of sight, leaving her all alone again.

Chapter Four

Athena returned home from dinner with Jason extremely happy. She had worked things out with Jason, and she had  agreed to move in with him in six months, no matter what. Athena was about to head up the stairs when their housekeeper, Mrs. Landsbury, came up to her. "Good evening, Miss Athena," she began formally. "Master Stefan has requested I send you to him immediately -- he is in the drawing room." Without waiting for an answer, she turned and left, leaving Athena puzzled. She headed down the hallway and stopped when she reached the drawing room. "Uncle?" Athena said in her soft voice. "I'm told you wanted to see me?" "Yes, Athena," Stefan boomed from his seat on the settee where he was reading some business papers. "I want to talk to you about your sister." Athena winced, not wanting to have to be the one to figure out what her sister was up to now. "Alexis informed me that Kyra picked a fight with your grandmother yesterday. Were you aware of this?" Athena sighed "Yes, Uncle. She told me last night before dinner." Stefan's eyes widened. "Why did you not tell me?" he demanded. "I didn't think it was a big problem," shrugged Athena. "Helena wasn't mad, according to Kyra. And besides, what do you suggest we do, ignore Helena? It was my understanding that Helena approached Kyra unnecessarily, not the other way around." Stefan hid a smile. In her own way, Athena was very much like Laura. "Maybe so, Athena, but your sister needs to learn how to speak civilly when Helena decides to show her face," answered Stefan. "I think you should care more about your sister's safety. What if her little argument ticked Helena off? She doesn't always show it, Athena. To her, showing emotion is a weakness. But if Kyra made her angry enough under the surface, Helena will come after her." Stefan paused to let his words sink in. "You are the only one who can get through to your sister when she is being stubborn. Will you please speak to Kyra and advise her to just walk away from Helena?" Athena sighed, "I'll try, Uncle, but Kyra only listens when she wants to." Stefan nodded. "I am aware of that, Athena. But I still want you to try." "As you wish, Uncle. May I go upstairs now?" Athena asked softly. "Certainly. Have a good night," Stefan touched her shoulder gently. Athena left the room & Stefan sat back down on the settee.

Nikolas glanced around him while he waited for his fiancée, Stephanie, to return from the washroom. They were at the PC Grille, having dinner & planning their wedding. "Sorry I took so long," Steph said in her quiet way as she slid back in her chair. "I'd wait forever for you," smiled Nikolas. Stephanie grinned. "You may live to regret that," she teased. Nikolas shook his head and pulled out some papers. "Okay, let's make a list of the wedding party. My brother will be my best man, my little sister the flower girl..." he trailed off as he wrote. "The twins will be my bridesmaids," chimed in Steph. Nikolas smiled at her. "Thanks for including them, Steph. It means a lot to them," he said quietly. "I'm not doing it just for them, Nik. I think they're pretty great too." Nikolas made a face. "Don't let them hear you say that, it'll go to their heads." Stephanie laughed. "Is Jason going to be an usher?" she asked, knowing he didn't really like Jason. "Yeah, I figured that'd be nice for Athena, and he seems to be treating her well," answered Nikolas. "I asked my friend Carly to be my maid of honour and her son, Michael, will be the ringbearer," Steph told Nikolas. "So now all you need is one more usher. What about who we're inviting?" "I was under the impression that we were inviting the whole town. It's a Cassadine tradition to have a large wedding," grinned Nikolas. "What about your grandmother & Andreas?" asked Stephanie. Nikolas considered that for a moment. "I don't want to anger Helena by not inviting her, which it would do by inviting the whole town but her. Besides, she'd probably come anyway." Stephanie nodded "That's a very diplomatic answer." "Thank you, Miss Page. Soon to be Mrs. Cassadine. Now, let's continue, shall we?" Nikolas teased. They bent their heads over the paper and continued their plans.

"Lucky," Lesley Lu walked into his bedroom. "Are you mad at me?" she asked petulantly. "Now why would I be mad at you, Lulu?" Lucky asked, patting the bed beside him so she would sit with him. "Cause you're mad at Mommy & Nicky and you haven't talked to me a lot today," she answered. Lucky wrapped his arms around his sister & kissed the top of her head. "I could never be mad at you, Lulu. I love you very much," Lucky assured her. "Why are you mad at Mommy & Nicky?" asked Lulu. "Because Mommy & Nicky keep telling me to be nice to some people I don't like," answered Lucky. "Who?" inquired Lulu. As much as Lucky detested the twins, he'd never try & turn Lulu against them. "Just some people I know," Lucky told Lulu. "Never mind. How was school today?" Lulu's eyes lit up. "I made you something today. Stay here and I'll go get it." Lucky smiled as she took off without waiting for an answer.

"Athena!" Kyra bounded into her twin sister's room, her eyes dancing. Athena looked up warily from the magazine she was reading. "What, Kyra? And have you heard of knocking?" Kyra was momentarily taken aback at her sister's tone of voice. "Sorry, I just exciting news to tell you!" Kyra sat down on her sister's bed, noticing the difference from her own.

Athena's room had a creamy white rug with vanilla walls and a navy blue trim on everything. Athena's bed sat in the middle of the room, with her night table and dresser to the left hand side of her bed. She had a bookshelf & a desk with a computer on the wall by the door, and two chairs on the right hand side of the room with a small tv nearby. Shelves on the wall were littered with treasured stuffed animals, figurines & pictures of her family & friends. Athena had framed certificates on walls, awards from school & articles she had written for their school newspaper.

"What sort of news?" asked Athena suspiciously. Quickly, Kyra recounted how she had taken Andreas for a ride that afternoon & about their snack at the cottage. "After I cleaned up I went to find him, and we started talking," explained Kyra. "Thena, all of a sudden, he kissed me!" Athena's eyes bugged open. "What?" she squeaked. "He kissed me, Thena. Andreas kissed me more than once! And I liked it!" Kyra looked wide-eyed at her sister. "Oh, Kyra, how do you do this?" Athena clapped her hand to her forehead. "Do what?" asked Kyra. "Get yourself into so much trouble," sighed Athena. "Do you have any idea what Helena will do when she finds out you're after her boy toy?" "That's why she won't find out, Athena. Because I'm not going to tell her, Andreas isn't going to tell her, and YOU'D better not tell her. That's all who know," Kyra said smugly. Athena shook her head. "I don't think so, sis. I am not keeping any secrets for you. Uncle asked me tonight to remind you of Helena's temper. He doesn't want you doing anything to tick her off," warned Athena. Kyra looked unconcerned. "So I'll stay away from Helena. But you'd better keep my secret, Athena. I'm your sister, the most loyal person to you. You'd better not double cross me or I'll know that you don't love me," accused Kyra viciously. "You're trying to destroy my happiness. You get Jason, Nikolas gets Stephanie, but I don't get to have anybody without you ruining it." Athena hid a smile. When her sister didn't get her way, she went dramatic. "Even if I do keep your secret, you don't think it'll get ruined anyway when the truth comes out? And it will -- everything does eventually," Athena told Kyra. Kyra's eyes lit with hope. "You'll keep my secret then? I knew you would, Thena! Thank you!" Kyra bounced on the bed in happiness. "I didn't -- " began Athena, about to protest that she didn't agree, but Kyra's happiness stopped her. This was the first time in a long time Athena had seen her twin so happy. "I love you too much to upset you, Kyra," Athena said softly. Kyra hugged Athena. "Love you too, Thena. See you later!" Kyra jumped off the bed and practically floated out of the room.

Alexis was in her penthouse with her fiancé, Ned, having a quiet dinner. Ned had ordered in from the PC Grille, a local restaurant. Alexis took her last bite and laid the fork down on the plate, leaning back & stretching her legs out. "Wonderful meal, darling. Nice end to a trying day." "Why was your day so trying?" asked Ned. "I went shopping for a dress to wear to Nikolas's wedding," grinned Alexis. Ned laughed and shook his head. "Did you find one you liked?" he inquired. Without answering, Alexis stood & walked over to her closet, pulling out a garment bag. "But you can't see it until the day of the wedding," Alexis warned Ned. "Why not?" asked Ned. "It's not like we're getting married -- it's not bad luck." "Because I want to surprise you," answered Alexis. Ned smiled and walked over to Alexis, putting his arms around her. "Did I mention I much prefer you with your clothes off?" Ned asked licentiously. Alexis jokingly pushed Ned away. "Ned, be serious!" "I am serious," Ned whispered as he scooped Alexis into his arms. "Where are we going?" smiled Alexis, relaxing in Ned's arms. "To the bedroom," Ned carried Alexis in & laid her down on the bed. Shutting the door, they had the rest of the night with no distractions, only each other.

Chapter Five

One week before Christmas, Kyra was humming to herself as she wrapped Christmas presents in her room. She had finished the presents she had for Athena, Nikolas, Stephanie, Stefan, Mrs. Landsbury, Lesley Lu, Lucky, Alexis & Ned already. She only had the presents for Emily, Laura, Helena & Andreas left to wrap. Kyra glanced at the presents for her half-brother, grandmother & Andreas & sighed. For weeks, Kyra had contemplated buying Andreas something, as well as her ousted family members. But Kyra had two ulterior motives in mind by buying them one: it got her onto Helena's good side, which would relieve her Uncle, and it would make her look like she was in the holiday spirit. That was how Kyra could justify buying a present for Andreas without anyone getting suspicious. She quickly wrapped the other gifts, leaving Andreas's for last. Knowing she couldn't get him something too personal, Kyra had gotten Andreas a sweater to keep him warm during the cold weather & an ID bracelet with his name on it. On the back she'd had "Love, Kyra C" engraved on it. Nothing too personal, but thoughtful enough that Andreas would understand her feelings for him. The last five months had been heavenly for Kyra. They'd met numerous times at different locations, spent loads of time talking & kissing. When Kyra was done wrapping, she looked at her alarm clock and gasped. She was almost late meeting Andreas! They had plans to meet at the cottage - Kyra was bringing a VCR & a movie to watch, along with some popcorn they could pop on the stove. Grabbing her bag, she headed downstairs and out the door to her car. She drove to the cottage along all the back roads, being careful to turn off her lights when she got close.

Once she arrived, she let herself into the cottage and smiled when she saw Andreas waiting for her. "Sorry I'm late," Kyra apologized. "I was too involved in wrapping my presents." Andreas walked over to her with a grin. "I'll wait for you always, my love," he whispered, slipping his arms around her. Kyra set her bag down and melted into Andreas's arms. Andreas bent his head so his mouth met Kyra's for a long, lingering kiss. "I've been waiting for three days to do that," whispered Andreas. Kyra laughed. "You say that every time we see each other," she admonished. Andreas smiled down at Kyra. "I mean it every time too." Kyra took Andreas's hand and gasped as she turned to lead him to the couch for their movie. "Wha --" she trailed off, noticing the candles all over the cottage, the scent of flowers. "Let me show you," Andreas said softly, leading Kyra back to the bedroom.

The whole room was filled with scented cranberry candles, and there was a vase full of red roses. "I figured this would be our last chance to see each other alone until after the holidays, and I wanted to make it special," explained Andreas, putting his arms Kyra's waist & kissing the nape of her neck. "You did all this for me?" Kyra managed, rendered almost speechless. "I wanted us to have our own Christmas celebration before we celebrate it as acquaintances," Andreas told Kyra. He walked over and pushed the play button on a tape recorder, and soft music began to play. "Will you dance with me?" asked Andreas, holding out his hand to a still-shocked Kyra. Kyra nodded and stepped into his arms. After the song was over, Andreas sat Kyra down on the bed and produced a small velvet box. "This is my personal Christmas gift to you -- a token of my love for you. It's not as extravagant as I wished, but I thought it wiser to go carefully." Kyra was puzzled as to what he meant until she opened the box & saw a beautifully cut amethyst ring with small diamonds around it. Andreas took it from her and slipped in on her right ring finger. "Andreas, it's beautiful," whispered Kyra, tears of joy filling her eyes. "Not anywhere as beautiful as you," Andreas's eyes were shining as he leaned over and kissed her passionately. Kyra returned the force of his kiss, overwhelmed by her desire for Andreas.

Andreas scooped Kyra up in his arms and carried her to the head of the bed. He laid her down and gently peeled her clothes away from her body. "Kyra," he whispered, hesitant to continue but wanting to with his whole heart. For five months, Andreas & Kyra had restrained themselves & only kissed each other, stopping it before it could go further. But Kyra was laying on the bed now, wanting Andreas with her whole body, soul & heart. "Don't stop," Kyra pleaded. Andreas hesitated only once more, but his resolve weakened as Kyra removed his clothes. He brought his lips to her skin, moaning as he tasted the salty sweetness of her flesh. Kyra ran her hands all over Andreas?s body, gasping in the pleasure of feeling his curves. They explored, touched, kissed and tasted until they were both aching to be joined as one. Andreas entered Kyra fast, trying to ease the pain he knew she would feel. Kyra gasped from the pain, and Andreas pressed harder, wanting her to feel the pleasure that making love could be. They began to move their bodies in perfect rhythm and Kyra felt as though she was floating, soaring through the skies in a sweet dance of love. They came fast & loud, and then both laid spent, enjoying the aftermath of their lovemaking. Kyra's heart pounded so loudly she was afraid people within miles would be able to hear it. She grinned to herself, knowing that was stupid thought. Andreas wrapped his arms around Kyra, and they both dozed off, completely relaxed & sated.

Laura had just put Lesley Lu to bed and was wondering how her other children were doing. She was still close to Nikolas and his new wife, but the twins were harder to keep track of, seeing as how Lucky's attitude usually kept them away. Picking up the phone, she called Wyndemere in the hopes of reaching one of the twins. Mrs. Landsbury put Stefan on the phone. "Laura," came Stefan's voice. "Stefan, hi. I was just calling to see how Athena & Kyra are doing. Are neither of them home?" she asked. "Athena is out on a double date with Jason, Stephanie & Nikolas the last I heard," answered Stefan. "And Kyra was heading to a friend's house for a holiday movie night, which seems to be turning into a sleepover, as usual." More often than not, Kyra's movie nights turned into sleepovers. Stefan wasn't worried, he was used to it & knew Kyra was safe. Stefan grinned, amused by the activity in his niece's lives. "Why? Is there a problem? Because I can contact both if need be," added Stefan. "No, there's no problem," came Laura's soft voice. "I just miss them, I guess. Lucky's attitude usually keeps them away, so I was hoping to set up a lunch date so I could spend some time with them." Stefan felt sorry for Laura, his past love, hearing the pain in her voice. "Laura," he said quietly. "You know you are welcome here anytime you wish; Lesley Lu as well." "I know, thank you Stefan," Laura smiled. "Maybe I'll take you up on that offer one day. How've you been?" Stefan closed his eyes, willing himself not to succumb to her voice. He had secretly loved Laura for over 20 years, since she was married to his brother, Stavros. Helena had forced Laura to marry his brother when she kidnapped Laura & brought her to their island in Greece. It was because of his love for Laura that he had raised her children --because of his love for her. Upon his return to Port Charles, and after her divorce from Luke Spencer, he & Laura had dated briefly. That had ended bitterly when Laura admitted she still loved her ex-husband, Luke. Stefan still loved Laura though, and would take her back in an instant, if she ever got over Luke. "I've been okay, Laura. Keeping busy with Nikolas & the girls. How about you?" he asked softly. "I'm doing well, Stefan. Thanks," she answered. "And Luke?" he added, hating himself for asking. "Please don't, Stefan. Let's not ruin a perfectly calm conversation," Laura pleaded. "Fine. I'd better get off the telephone, Laura. Have a nice Christmas," Stefan said shortly & hung up before Laura could answer. On her end, Laura stared at the phone sadly, wishing she could change her feelings for Luke, but knowing she couldn't. Laura had been told by Helena that all three children had died in an accident just after the twins were born & that she was free to leave the island. Convinced she?d never see her kids again, Laura had married her childhood sweetheart, Luke & had gotten pregnant with Lucky immediately. When Stefan returned to Port Charles with her grown children, the first cracks started happening within the Spencer marriage. Luke wasn't aware of Laura's other three children, and was appalled that she had lied for all those years. Once he discovered that there was a possibility the children were Stefan?s, he had ended their marriage. However, it was Laura that ended up asking for a divorce--once she started dating Stefan. But after a few months, Laura knew she wasn't over Luke & probably never would be and ended things with Stefan. The only disappointment to Laura was that she & Luke were still divorced. Luke couldn?t forgive Laura for all the lies and was trying to move on with his life, a life without Laura.

Athena & Stephanie excused themselves to go to the ladies room. They were having dinner with their significant other's at a restaurant called Mario's. Once in the ladies room, Stephanie cornered Athena. "So? When are you moving in with Jason?" she asked. Athena made a face and then smiled. "Not soon enough, according to him. I promised him by the fifteenth of January, though." Stephanie laughed. "It'll be fun, Athena. Just you wait & see," she promised. "How's married life treating you?" Athena asked coyly. Stephanie blushed. "Don't tell Jason, because I haven't told Nikolas yet, but I think I'm pregnant," confided Stephanie in a low voice. Athena's face lit up. "Steph, that's excellent news! I hope it's a little girl," enthused Athena. Steph smiled, but held up a hand. "Keep it down, or pretty soon the whole restaurant will know!" Athena clapped her hand over her mouth. "Sorry," she giggled. "I guess I got carried away, huh? Are you going to get a test done to, uh, confirm it?" Athena asked. "I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Luckily, it's a yearly checkup, so Nikolas isn't suspicious of my going. If the test comes back positive, I'm going to buy him something with 'Daddy' on it," Steph told Athena. "Promise you'll call me when you find out?" Athena begged. "Promise. So how's Kyra?" Steph decided to change the subject. She could tell immediately that she hit the wrong topic because Athena's face clouded over at the mention of her twin. "She's fine," muttered Athena. "Ready to get back?" she asked Stephanie. "You know, Athena, you can talk to me about anything if you ever need to. I know we're not as close as you & Kyra, but I don't mind listening," Steph offered. Athena smiled. "Thanks, Steph. I'll remember that. Now, we'd better go back out there before the boys eat our meals as well as their own!" laughed Athena. Steph linked her arm through Athena's & they walked out of the washroom & back to their table.
