Chapter Eleven

Kyra & Athena were coming downstairs when a knock came at the door. Kyra had  just woken up from hour?s sleep & she felt much better. "I'll get it,"  Athena said, sidling by Kyra on the stairs and opening the door. "Mom! Aunt  Lexi! What are you doing here?" she asked in surprise. Alexis didn't answer;  she just walked in & held her arms out to Kyra on the stairs. Kyra hesitated  for just a moment, and then flew down the stairs & into Alexis's arms. "Aunt  Lexi," she said as she sobbed with relief at seeing a loving face. Alexis  rocked her. "Kyra Cassadine," Alexis scolded gently. "Why didn't you tell me  that night when I asked you?" "I was too scared that you'd say something to  Uncle," answered Kyra meekly. Alexis smoothed Kyra's hair as she talked.  "Kyra, you can always come to me, hon. About anything. I may not agree with  everything you do, but I'll always be there to help you," she informed Kyra.  Kyra looked over Alexis's shoulder at her mother, who was staring at them  jealously. She pulled herself out of Alexis's arms & wiped her eyes. "Hi,  Mom", she said quietly. "Hey, baby", Laura said sorrowfully.  By this point Jason & Andreas were standing nearby with her twin. Kyra walked over and took Andreas's hand, trying to show their unity as a  couple. "Mom, Aunt Lexi, please say hello to my new husband," Kyra said.  Laura stepped forward. "Welcome to the family, Andreas," she said softly.  "Yes, welcome," Alexis echoed. Andreas smiled at them both. "Thank you. I am  sorry that the situation is so tense, but I do love Kyra deeply, please be  assured." "No one doubts your love for Kyra, Andreas," Alexis assured him.  "I am only sorry that the situation is what it is," added Laura. "Would you  two like to come & sit down?" Athena interrupted. Laura looked startled and  turned to her other daughter. "Thanks, honey. That'd be nice."  It occurred to Laura that this was the first time she'd ever been inside Jason & Athena's apartment. "I can show you around if you'd like, Mom," volunteered Athena, noticing her mother glancing around. "Great  idea -- let's go," Laura answered. Athena led Laura upstairs while Jason  showed everyone else to the couch. "Can I get you a drink, Alexis?" he  offered. "Thanks, Jason, but no," Alexis said to Jason. Jason sat down  beside her and Kyra sat next to Andreas, leaning against him. "Your mom & I  are here to go with you when you face Stefan," Alexis said quietly, leaning  forward to stare at Kyra. Kyra nodded, silent with her thoughts. "Athena  told me that Uncle is livid," Kyra said after a moment. Alexis nodded with a  small smile. "That's sort of an understatement," Alexis told Kyra. Kyra  sighed. "Why is he so mad at me? It's not like this really affects him in  any way," Kyra asked Alexis, puzzled. Alexis reached over & gently touched  Kyra's cheek. "Silly girl," she whispered. "This does affect Stefan, Kyra.  He loves you & is worried about your safety, your baby's safety. He also  thinks you acted without thinking, but all parents think that." "I know,"  Kyra said quietly. "Does Helena know yet?" "I don't think so. What do you  two plan on doing from this point?" asked Alexis. Kyra sighed with gloom.  "I--I'm not sure," Kyra glanced at her husband beside her. Andreas squeezed  Kyra's hand. "We plan on telling Helena the truth about our relationship in the hope that she will accept it," he answered. Alexis snorted. "What makes you think she will accept it? For all you know, she may be livid that she was kept in the dark. Or she may try to hurt Kyra," Alexis said. Andreas closed his eyes, not wanting to hear his worst fears voiced. "All I can do is hope and pray that does not happen," Andreas muttered helplessly. Alexis sat back against the couch, eyeing Andreas. "Andreas, I can see that my neice means a lot to you," she began, holding out her hand to stop Andreas from interrupting. "But I cannot let you take a chance with her life. You are her husband, but there is a child involved now. The only thing on your mind right now should be keeping Kyra & the baby safe." Andreas held Kyra closer to him as Alexis fell silent. For once, Kyra couldn't argue. "What do you suggest?" she asked softly. To Kyra, the most important thing right now was protecting her child. Alexis & Jason glanced at each other. Letting out a sigh, Alexis put a hand to her forehead. "I really don't know, Kyra," she murmured. Jason put his arm on the back of the couch thoughtfully. "The problem is that we can't predict Helena," Jason stated. "If we knew what her thoughts about Andreas & Kyra being together, then we wouldn't have to worry. Is there any way to find out her feelings about that without giving the truth away?"  At that moment, Athena & Laura returned to the living room. Athena plunked herself down between Jason & Alexis, while Laura sat down beside Kyra. "Everyone looks so serious," Athena commented. "What are we discussing?" "Helena," Jason answered grimly. "Jason just had a thought that we were all pondering," Kyra spoke up. "Is there a way that we can test Helena to see what her feelings would be should Andreas be in love with someone, especially a family member, without telling her the truth? And if so, how?" The room fell silent as all six of them tried to figure out a way to outsmart Helena.

Helena paced around her yacht, her mind whirling. Andreas had been gone for six and a half days, and Helena was starting to get irritated. Though she had allowed for his little getaway, she had things that need to be accomplished, needs that only Andreas could satisfy. Helena smiled devilishly at the thought. After calling his cell  phone for the dozenth time that day, Helena slammed down her phone in  frustration when she reached his answering machine. She picked up the phone  again, dialing another number this time. "Get over here now," Helena growled  into the phone. Hanging the phone back up, Helena sat down at her desk, deep  in thought. Stefan's conversation days ago replayed over & over in her head.  What was Andreas up to? It was obviously serious if Stefan wanted her to  sign legal papers. Had Andreas betrayed her by now working for Stefan?  Whatever it was, Helena was determined to find out without having to sign  those papers. A knock at her door interrupted her thoughts. "Get in here,"  Helena barked. The door opened and a meek faced man entered slowly. "Yes,  Mrs. Cassadine," the man practically whispered. "Victor, have you any news  yet about where Andreas is?" snarled Helena. Helena had hired Victor two  days ago to find Andreas. She had hired him in the past for other jobs, and  found his work mostly satisfactory. Victor winced, not moving any closer to  the angry woman. "Not yet, but I'm getting closer," he began. He was cut off  as Helena slammed him against a wall, almost spitting in his face. "That's  unacceptable, Victor," she smiled, touching his face with her fingernail.  Helena picked up her nearby letter opener, holding it against Victor's  cheek. "I'd hate to see something happen to you because of your stupidity,"  Helena purred. Victor's eyes widened as he drew in his breath. "No, Mrs.  Cassadine. I would not want to see that either. I promise you I will get the  information you want," he said desperately. Slowly, Helena released him.  "That's better," she patted his cheek. "I'll expect to see you by tomorrow  morning with the information I require." Victor nodded & hurried from the  room. Helena chuckled, a vicious little chuckle as she tapped the letter  opener against her fingers. "Well, Andreas, I'm about to find out what  you're hiding", she whispered maliciously, not wincing as she cut her  finger. Raising her finger to her lips, Helena sucked the blood on her  finger, smiling at the taste.

Kyra awoke with a start, not sure what woke her from her sound sleep. She lay silently in her bed, listening. "Andreas?" she whispered, reaching out to touch her husband. At Athena & Jason's insistence, Kyra & Andreas were spending the night at the penthouse; giving them one  last day of rest before they had to face Stefan had to face Helena.  Kyra heard the noise again, what sounded like a distant scratching at the window. "Andreas," she whispered again, louder this time. "Wha -- wha..." Andreas mumbled groggily, peeking one eye open & rolling towards Kyra. "I heard a noise at the window," Kyra answered. Andreas opened both eyes and sat up in bed, his head turned towards the window. He squinted and then groaned. "Stay here," he ordered, crawling out of bed and walking to the window. Yanking back the curtains, Andreas opened the window and growled at the intruder. "What are you doing here, Victor? How did you find me?" Victor blushed sheepishly at being caught snooping. "Mrs. Cassadine ordered me to find you. I have spent the last three days looking for you, Andreas. She wants to know where you are and who is keeping you away," Victor answered. He tried to look around Andreas to his companion, but Andreas moved to block his view of Kyra. "That's none of your business. Just tell Mrs. Cassadine that I will be home tomorrow and that you found me at a hotel near the airport. Alone," he said sternly. "If you do that, you will be handsomely rewarded. By Mrs. Cassadine & by me," Andreas promised. Victor's eyes grew wide as he contemplated the money he'd receive from this job. "When will you pay me?" Victor asked suspiciously. "After I am home and discover that you  did tell Mrs. Cassadine what I told you to tell her," Andreas told him.  Victor agreed, and began to climb back down the building the way he came.  Andreas watched him go, his heart sinking. Helena was getting suspicious. It  was time to bring someone else in on his plan. Andreas made a mental note to  corner Jason alone the next morning to talk with him.  Andreas shut the window & the curtains and returned to his wide-eyed wife. "Everything's okay, Kyra," Andreas assured her. Kyra began to tremble, and Andreas took her in his arms. "I won't let anything happen to you," he whispered, nibbling on her ear. Kyra melted at his gentle  touch and they lay back down. Andreas began to run his fingers up and down Kyra's body, over her nightgown. Kyra felt herself stir at his touch, and rubbed her own fingers along his back. Andreas kissed Kyra, letting his tongue reach inside her mouth and massage hers. Kyra moaned softly, pulling his boxer shorts down & off his body. Andreas grinned and pulled back slightly. "Now, who gave you permission to do that?" he asked seductively. Kyra grinned. "I did," she whispered, gasping as Andreas suddenly removed her nightgown and began to fondle her breasts. The intensity of their passion was heightened by the visit from Helena's man, and Kyra & Andreas couldn't stop the overwhelming desire they had for each other at that exact moment.  Andreas moved himself over Kyra's body, sliding his tongue over her erect nipple. Moving to the other breast, he elicited a groan of pleasure with his sucking. Kyra's hands roamed Andreas's buttocks as she pulled his body closer to hers. Andreas ran his lips up & down Kyra's body, wanting to taste every inch of her skin. Kyra was writhing with  anticipated agony by the time Andreas's lips returned to hers. "Andreas,"  she moaned, arching her back to him. He placed her legs around his waist and  entered her, gasping as her warmth ensconced him. "Kyra," he muttered as he  began to move against her hips. Kyra moved him with, matching his thrusts.  They kept their moans quiet, respectful of Athena & Jason two doors down.  They moved faster & faster against each other until Kyra climaxed, pulling  Andreas's lips against hers so she could muffle the moan with their kiss.  Andreas felt himself climax inside Kyra, still moving against her hips. They  began to slow, their hearts pounding. Finally, Andreas lay beside Kyra,  still joined as one, holding her close to his damp body. Kyra pulled the  blanket up over their bodies and closed her eyes, falling into a contented  sleep in Andreas?s arms.

Chapter Twelve

Victor showed up at the yacht early the next morning and sighed to himself  before entering the living room. Helena was sure to calm down once he told  her about Andreas, he thought to himself. Victor gathered his courage and  walked into the living room, bracing himself for Helena's wrath. "Mrs.  Cassadine", he began, taking a deep breath. "Have you any news?" Helena  asked calmly from her position at the desk. She was sitting in the chair,  clutching the letter opener in her hands. "Yes, Mrs. Cassadine. I was able  to locate Andreas", answered Victor. Helena's eyes lit up and she stood up,  slithering over to Victor like a snake. "Where is he?" she purred. Victor's  eyes darted around uncomfortably as Helena pressed her body against his. "It  was late last night when I found Andreas staying at a hotel just outside the  airport. After some discussion with the front desk, I was informed that  Andreas had checked in after ten pm and was checking out this morning,"  Victor replied. Helena's eyes grew round with unanswered questions forming  in her mind. "Was he alone?" she finally asked. Victor nodded. "The man at  the front desk advised Andreas was alone when he checked in and seemed to be  alone later on when he checked on him." Helena cursed under her breath.  "Damn, I was so sure," she muttered. Victor remained silent, not wanting to  get himself in trouble by saying anything. After a few moments, Helena  noticed him standing there and handed him a fat envelope reluctantly. "Thank  you for your services, Victor," said Helena. Victor bowed and kissed her  hand, pocketing the envelope. "Your wish is my command, Mrs. Cassadine," he  murmured. "You're free to go," Helena added when Victor didn't move. Victor simply nodded and left without hesitating. Helena  walked over to the couch slowly, her mind whirling. Maybe Andreas hadn't  deceived her after all, she mused. Andreas really did go to visit family and  was now home to be with her. Helena smiled a Cheshire cat grin, pleased that  she didn't have to terminate him after all.

After breakfast the next morning, Andreas took Jason aside and told him in a  low voice that he needed to talk to him privately. Jason nodded and turned  to Kyra & Athena. "Girls," he teased to show nothing was serious. "I need to  have a talk with Andreas for a moment, man-to-man if you don't mind."  Andreas looked appropriately unconcerned and interested, while Athena & Kyra  shrugged. "Go ahead," Kyra answered, sitting down. "Athena & I will clean  up." Athena narrowed her eyes teasingly at her twin. "Who will?" she asked.  Kyra smiled sheepishly. "I'll direct," laughed Kyra. "You rest, I'll clean,"  Athena said firmly as Andreas and Jason left the room. Once enclosed in his  office, Jason motioned for Andreas to have a seat. Andreas did so as Jason  settled himself into his own chair. "What did you want to talk about,  Andreas?" Jason asked pleasantly. Andreas looked Jason in the eye and spoke  as seriously as possible. "I need you to hire someone to kill Helena." Jason  nodded; he had been expecting this. "I figured you'd want to discuss this at  some point so I've already got some ideas jotted down." Jason gestured to  his desk at some papers. Andreas was shocked. "How did you know?" he gasped.  Jason couldn't help but chuckle. "Andreas, everyone thinks about killing  Helena at one time or another. But with you marrying her granddaughter, it  seemed most likely you'd be the most impatient." Andreas relaxed in his  chair, nodding. "Are you therefore ready to discuss?" he asked. Jason picked  up his papers in answer and the two men began to talk, laying out plans for  Helena Cassadine's death.  Back in the kitchen, Athena loaded the dishwasher and put a few things in  the fridge before sitting down across from her sister. "You're going to have  to take it easy for the next few months, Ky," advised Athena. "That means as  little stress as possible." Kyra picked at the placemat in front of her,  nodding. "The last thing I want is to endanger this baby," she murmured. "I  think the plan at this point is for Andreas to continue to work for Helena  until we think of something better or until I begin to show. Which ever  comes first," Kyra groaned. Athena patted her arm sympathetically. "Where  are you going to stay until this happens?" she asked. "Aunt Lexi told me I  could move in with her for now. She's going to take me back to Wyndemere  today to get my things and I'll stay in her guestroom," replied Kyra. "Will you call me every day and come  see me?" Kyra asked in a small voice. Athena got up and gave Kyra a tight  hug. "I'll be there every day, every step of the way," she assured her  sister, sitting back down again. "Nothing will keep me away from you. We  have one more thing we haven't thought about." "What?" asked Kyra. "Nikolas  & Stephanie," Athena answered. "Shouldn't you pay them a visit and explain this to them?"  Kyra sighed; she'd completely forgotten about her older brother. "I'll go  after Andreas leaves," she promised. "What about Lucky & Lulu?" Kyra asked  wildly, beginning to panic now about what lay ahead of her. Athena placed  her hand on Kyra's arm. "One step at a time, Ky," she whispered soothingly.  "Just take it slowly and carefully, with as little stress as possible." Kyra  nodded and rubbed her stomach gently, trying to soothe herself as well as  the child within her.

Stephanie groaned aloud as she sank down on the couch in the living room.  She looked around the large cottage that she shared with Nikolas and sighed.  It was a quaint little place and she was going to miss it when they moved  into Wyndemere in two weeks. Nikolas & Stefan had explained to Stephanie  that it was a requirement for Nikolas to be living in the family estate  before he took his place as head of the Cassadine family. Nikolas would be  turning twenty-five in three weeks, hence the reason they were moving now.  Nikolas planned on asking Kyra if she'd like to move into the cottage so he  wouldn't have to sell it. Stephanie rubbed her stomach tiredly, feeling the  baby kick as she smiled. "Four more months, little one," she murmured. It  had been a long day packing and she was more than ready for a break. When  the doorbell rang, Stephanie heaved a huge sigh and willed herself to get up  to answer the door. Luckily for her, Nikolas heard the doorbell as well and  came out to answer it. He smiled sympathetically as he walked past  Stephanie, who grabbed a magazine off the table beside her. "Kyra!" Nikolas  answered the door cheerfully. "What a pleasant surprise! Did Athena tell you  I wanted to see you?" he asked. Kyra frowned. "No actually, she didn't," she  said. "Did you need something?" "I wanted to ask you something. Why don't  you come in and sit down?" he offered. Kyra smiled at her brother. "Thanks,"  she walked inside and over to Stephanie. "Hey, Steph. How're you feeling?"  asked Kyra, sinking down on a chair. "Fat," Stephanie complained. Kyra  chuckled softly. "You don't look it," she assured Stephanie. Kyra glanced  around the room, noticing boxes. "Are you guys moving?" she asked,  surprised. Nikolas sat down beside Stephanie, nodding. "We're moving back to  Wyndemere," he explained. "As per the requirements of the throne." Kyra  rolled her eyes and grinned. "Not thrilled, Nik?" Kyra teased, knowing how  much her brother hated being the heir having to do everything that went with  it. Nikolas shrugged. "Living at Wyndemere won't be bad, and it'll be a nice  spot for the baby to grow up." Kyra nodded, her eyes traveling to  Stephanie's stomach. Unconsciously Kyra's face saddened, wishing she could  have an easy pregnancy like Stephanie was having. "Ky?" Nikolas caught the  look. "Is something wrong?" Kyra shook herself out of her daze and glanced at her brother's concerned face with a  forced smile. "Everything's fine, Nik," she said convincingly. "What did you  want to ask me?" Nikolas & Stephanie exchanged a look before Nikolas  continued. "Steph & I were wondering if you wanted to move in here so we  don't have to sell the cottage," Nikolas told Kyra. Kyra's eyes widened &  she grinned. "I'd love to," she said sincerely. "You don't know how much  that means to me." "Yes I do," Nikolas grinned. "Believe me, I do."  Stephanie had remained silent through the whole conversation, her eyes rarely leaving Kyra. She noticed at  some points Kyra nervously touched her stomach and also how drawn & pale  Kyra was. "Kyra," she interrupted softly. "Is there anything you want to  talk to us about?" From all she'd heard, Stephanie knew Kyra had come to see  them for a reason. Kyra looked down at her hand, nodding. "What is it, Ky?"  Nikolas asked gently, sensing his sister's distress. Kyra had been keeping  her left hand covered until this point, not wanting them to notice the rings  until she was ready to tell them. She sighed now and wordlessly held out her  hand. "You're married?" Nikolas hollered, jumping up. Kyra's face grew  terrified and she said nothing. Stephanie placed a calming hand on her  husband's arm. "Nikolas," she said quietly. "I'm sure Kyra didn't come here  to be yelled at. If you want her to tell you, sit back down and behave  yourself." Nikolas took a deep breath and sat down again, staring at Kyra.  Stephanie turned back to her younger sister-in-law. "Kyra, please continue,"  she said. Tears filled Kyra's eyes & she drew in a shaky breath before she  began to speak. "Six months ago, I began seeing Andreas Andropulous," she  began hesitantly. When she mentioned Andreas's name, Nikolas clenched his  fists and Kyra paused, her eyes filled with uncertainty. "Go ahead, Kyra,"  coached Stephanie. Kyra nodded and wiped her eyes. "Andreas is Helena's  manservant. Anyway, we fell in love and in January I began feeling sick."  Nikolas's eyes contorted in fear. He was afraid she was going to say that  Andreas gave her HIV. "I took a test almost two weeks ago and it revealed  that I'm pregnant. I'm eight weeks pregnant," she whispered, closing her  eyes briefly. "I told Andreas and we went to Las Vegas to get married. We  returned home last night." Kyra sat back against the chair, finished.  Stephanie & Nikolas were silent with shock. Stephanie broke the silence  first. "Congratulations. When is the baby due?" she asked. Kyra smiled  gratefully at Stephanie. "In late August or early September," she answered.  "Three months after yours." "What happens now, Kyra?" Nikolas asked in a  strained voice. "I don't know, Nik. I'm moving in with Alexis for the next  two weeks, and then I'll move in here thanks to you," said Kyra. "That's not  what I meant. Who knows? What about Helena?" "Athena knew first and she told  Jason, Alexis, Uncle & Mom. Now you two know. I think that's it," Kyra  answered his first question. "Andreas is trying to figure out what Helena's  reaction will be if he is married without her knowing it's me." Nikolas  shook his head, hating this situation already. "Awww, Ky," he muttered.  Tears began to slide down Kyra's cheeks at his tone. "Please, Nik, don't. I  have enough to deal with as it is. Uncle is livid, I have to hide my  pregnancy from everyone & then risk Helena before I show. Andreas could be  killed, he still has to work for her, *sleep* with her," Kyra shuddered  here. "Until this is solved. So please don't start, okay?" Nikolas  wordlessly went over and wrapped his arms around Kyra. "Everything will be  okay, Kyra. Stephanie & I are here for you. We're behind you one hundred  percent." Kyra sobbed on Nikolas's shoulder with relief. She had come expecting him to hate her when  she left and now she felt as if a lead weight had been lifted off her  shoulders. "How can we help?" Stephanie asked gently. "Ask Jason & Andreas.  They're cooking up something is all I know." The three of them sat silently,  no one daring to speak the thoughts running through their minds.

Chapter Thirteen

Andreas walked on board the yacht slowly, readying himself for the acting job of a lifetime. Though he was curious as to how Kyra was doing facing her Uncle & brother, he pushed her out of his thoughts. He needed all his strength & concentration to fool Helena. Andreas slipped his wedding ring off and put it in his pocket. For now, he'd have to hide it. He took a deep breath and opened the door, plastering a smile on his face as he walked into the living room. "Madam!" he cried, trying to sound happy. Helena was sitting at her desk, reading some papers. She turned when she heard Andreas's voice. "How nice that you've returned, Andreas," she said in a silky voice. "If I didn't know any better, I'd sworn you had lied to me about your whereabouts and had run off with someone," she laughed a cold, hard laugh. Her laugh sent shivers down Andreas's spine. Andreas forced a chuckle, "What a bad thought, Madam. I wasn't aware you had such an overactive imagination." Helena stared at Andreas intently, seemingly satisfied with him thus far. "How is your aunt?" she inquired. "Much better, thank you. It means a lot to me that you let me be with her," Andreas bowed slightly. "Though I must admit, I did miss you." Helena smiled. "I missed you too, Andreas," she purred, walking over to him and pressing her body close to him. Andreas was uncomfortable, but didn't say anything. "How is the Captain, Madam?" he asked pointedly. Helena drew back as if slapped. Then she smiled maliciously. "Jealous, Andreas? Or do you have another woman you wish to remain faithful to?" she snarled at him. Andreas eased away from Helena, keeping his calm posture. "I'm sorry if you find me insolent, Madam, but if you have a right to 'stray', don't I? We have not been together in quite awhile and I was interested in knowing your feelings should I choose to pursue a relationship with another woman." Helena was surprised. Obviously he hadn't done anything yet or he wouldn't be so calm, she mused. But he wanted to date other women and Helena was somewhat bothered by that. She didn't want to lose her control over Andreas. "I am quite surprised by your request, Andreas. You are my assistant and I don't want to lose our relationship," she said. "However, I suppose your engaging in other female companionship wouldn't be too scary." Stefan's conversation with her popped back into Helena's head and she wondered briefly if this was what Stefan had meant. But after watching Andreas's reaction carefully, she decided she was wrong. Andreas remained calm and obedient, nodding at her comment. "That is agreeable to me, Madam," Andreas said to her. "Now let me ask you about the future -- will I ever be allowed to marry if I find the right woman? Have children?" he asked, careful not to show any expression in his face. Helena's face turned almost white. "I don't think there's any reason to discuss that now, Andreas," Helena answered smoothly. "Unless of course, there's a reason you need to know the answer immediately?" Helena met Andreas's eyes. Andreas shook his head with a gleam in his eye. "I can wait to discuss that. If Madam doesn't mind, may I go unpack?" Helena waved her hand towards the door, deep in thought. Andreas picked up his bag and headed to his quarters. He had the deliberate feeling that someone had been in there while he was gone.

Sighing, Andreas began to unpack. A creepy feeling washed over him, making Andreas shudder. Deciding to see what Helena was up to, he crept quietly back to the living room. Helena was on the phone. "Follow his every move, Victor," she was saying. "And don't let me down. I want to know if Andreas is hiding something." After Helena hung up the phone, Andreas tiptoed back to his room. He should've known Helena would send someone to follow him around. He'd have to be very careful when he was around Kyra. Andreas stretched out on his bed, having decided that taking a nap and dreaming about Kyra was a pleasant way to spend the next few hours.

Alexis & Jason went with Kyra to Wyndemere to face Stefan. They went at a time when they knew they'd have three hours to pack first. Kyra packed the boxes with Alexis's help while Jason took everything down to the truck Alexis had rented. Kyra decided to take all of her small pieces of furniture with her as well, and Jason loaded it into the truck easily. Kyra looked around her near empty room as she & Alexis were going downstairs to wait for Stefan. Kyra blinked back tears of sadness & nostalgia, whispered "Goodbye" and silently followed Alexis downstairs. Jason waited in the truck and Kyra & Alexis sat in the living room until Stefan arrived.

He stared silently at his sister and niece, not saying a word. Walking over to the wet bar, Stefan poured himself a drink. After taking a gulp, he turned back to Alexis & Kyra. "Well?" Stefan finally asked. "I'm moving in with Aunt Lexi for the next two weeks and then I'm moving into Nikolas's cottage," Kyra answered quietly. Stefan's eyes smoldered, almost shooting sparks. "You'll do no such thing!" Stefan hollered suddenly, making Alexis & Kyra both jump. Kyra stood up, boldly facing her uncle. "I can and I will, Uncle. I am twenty-two years old. I am far past the age where you can tell me what to do or where to live." Stefan fell silent, as surprised as Alexis that Kyra had spoken back to him. But Kyra had had enough of walking on eggshells around everyone. She was married to Andreas and having his baby. If her family or Helena objected to it, that was tough. Kyra no longer cared. "Is your mother aware that you are home?" asked Stefan, trying to control his voice. "Mom came to see me yesterday," Kyra answered. "What does she think?" Stefan pursued. "That you & Helena are ridiculous if you cause problems for me & Andreas," Kyra shot back, causing Stefan to get angrier. Alexis hid an amused smile. The spitfire part of Kyra that Stefan liked was working against him as he tried to pull rank on his niece. "Excuse me for being sensible," Stefan said sarcastically. "Someone has to worry about Helena in all this. If you want to get yourself killed, and your mother, siblings & aunt," Stefan glared at Alexis, "are fine with that, then I'll back off." Kyra smirked, knowing full well her uncle was trying to guilt her into backing down; a trick he used often on Athena. The difference was that it usually worked on Athena because Athena was more respectful of her elders than Kyra. "Uncle, don't bother. I don't want to hear yelling. I'll talk to you when you want to be civil with me. Otherwise, stay out of my life & my child's." Kyra whirled around and left the room, shaking with tears in her eyes. Alexis & Stefan looked at each other, shocked. Letting her breath out, Alexis shrugged and hurried after Kyra.

Kyra settled herself into her room at Alexis's and then lay down on the bed. She wrapped her arms around her favorite panda and stared at a picture taken of her & Andreas just after they were married. Kyra set it down and sighed. She missed Andreas so much. She wondered how he was doing with Helena. Hopefully, Helena believed whatever Andreas told her. Kyra jumped when she heard a knock at the front door of the suite. Alexis was out so Kyra made her way out of the room and headed towards the knock. "Grandmother!" Kyra said in shock when she opened the door. "Hello, darling. I just stopped by Wyndemere to see you & was informed you'd moved out. Why didn't you tell me? And what made you leave Wyndemere?" Helena strode uninvited into the room and sat down on the couch. Kyra shut the door, almost collapsing with relief when she realized Helena had no clue why Kyra moved or anything about Andreas. "Uncle & I were having some problems," Kyra admitted softly. "So Aunt Lexi said I could move in here until I find a place of my own." "Why would you want to move in here?" Helena wrinkled her nose with distain. Kyra sat down across from Helena with a smile. "Just because you dislike Alexis doesn't mean everyone does, Grandmother," Kyra chastised gently. Helena's face relaxed into a small smile. "Alright, Kyra," she conceded. "Why didn't you move in with me? There's plenty of room on the yacht." Kyra's heart leapt at the thought. She'd never even thought of moving in with Helena. But on a second thought, Kyra realized it was too risky. It would be too hard to hide their true feelings and the intimacy between them. "Thank you for the thought, Grandmother," Kyra smiled appreciatively at Helena. "How about I come visit you instead?" Helena's eyes widened with surprised pleasure. "That sounds lovely, darling," she purred. Kyra relaxed in her chair, "What've you been up to lately, Grandmother?" "Not too much. Andreas was away for the last week so I just stayed on the yacht mostly," answered Helena. "How about you, my darling?" "Not much. My friend Jenni broke up with her boyfriend so I spent a few days at her house to make her feel better," Kyra lied. "You're such a good friend, Kyra," Helena said warmly. Kyra had to stop herself from rolling her eyes. Helena went overboard trying to win the love of Kyra, Athena & Nikolas. Especially Nikolas, the Cassadine heir. Kyra faked a smile, "Thank you, Grandmother. I really appreciate that." Kyra ordered some tea for them to drink and the two sat for the next two hours chatting aimlessly about nothing in particular. Kyra made herself as sweet and charming as possible, and Helena was thrilled at the end of the visit. She invited Kyra over anytime and gave her a chaste kiss on the cheek. Kyra showed Helena to the door, smiling and thanking Helena for the pleasant visit. After the door was shut, Kyra let out her breath. She had just sat back down on the couch when the door opened and Alexis walked in. "Was that the wicked witch of the west leaving?" Alexis asked disbelievingly. Kyra chuckled and nodded, "She came to visit, demanding to know why I moved out of Wyndemere and why I was staying with you instead of her." Alexis rolled her eyes and sank down beside Kyra with a smile. "What did you tell her?" "I charmed her for the last two hours, pretending to be the doting granddaughter," Kyra answered mischievously. "Helena couldn't be happier with me." Alexis stared at Kyra wondrously. "Girl, I think you're going to make it," she commented. "If you can charm the likes of Helena...." Kyra stared at the door, her mind on the last two hours. "I certainly hope so," she muttered..

Chapter Fourteen

"Ooof," Kyra winced as she banged her shin against the edge of the bed. In the last two months since she'd moved into the cottage, Kyra had banged her foot every morning on the corner of the bed. Kyra sat down on the bed, rubbing her foot and sighing. It was harder to do things now that she was four months pregnant. She had gained a little weight and was starting to show, which meant that she & Andreas would have to reveal the truth soon. The last eight weeks had been fairly easy for Kyra, which was a big relief. She & Andreas had staged some coincidental meetings and then some "dates". Helena had been upset at first that Andreas was dating her, but so far things were going well. Kyra made regular visits to the yacht to see her grandmother, thereby pacifying Helena as well. Somehow Kyra knew that Helena wasn't going to react well to the idea of the baby, though. Especially once she discovered exactly how far Kyra was along and that they were married. Hearing a knock downstairs at the door, Kyra hobbled down to answer it. She opened it to find Andreas standing there, looking serious. "Hey, handsome," Kyra said with a smile. "May I come in?" he asked with a wink in his eye. Ushering him inside, she checked to make sure he hadn't been followed when she shut the door. Turning, Kyra felt herself swept into Andreas's arms, his mouth crushing against hers. Breathless, Kyra broke away to ask, "What is with you today?" Andreas took her hand and led her upstairs to her bedroom. "Is it a crime to want my own wife?" he muttered, intent on his passion for her. Kyra grinned. Andreas stopped by often for these afternoon tête-à-têtes, something Kyra loved. They made love passionately in her bed, savoring every second of their stolen time together. Afterwards Andreas lay damp with sweat, holding Kyra close to him. She traced a finger over his lips & down his chin until she reached his chest. Andreas rolled her onto his back and pressed a hand gently against the bulge of her stomach that was their child. Kyra laid a soft hand overtop of Andreas's and the two lay silently together, amazed at their creation. "I am very proud of you, Kyra Andropulous," Andreas smiled down at his wife. Kyra grinned, "Why? What did I do that so wonderful?" "You have spent the last two months making Helena so deliriously happy, my love. She almost doesn't mind us being together." Kyra nodded, a worried frown creasing her face. "What is it?" Andreas was immediately concerned when he saw her look. "I'm just worried about what Helena will do when she finds out we are married & that I am pregnant. She will certainly be furious to discover that we lied to her for the last three months." Andreas bit his lip to stop himself from telling Kyra about the plan that Jason & Andreas had almost finalized. Helena would be dead before they had to say anything if Andreas had his way. But Andreas & Jason had agreed that it would be safer for everyone if they said nothing to anyone regarding their plan. "We'll just have to make her like us too much to want to be mad, my love," Andreas tried his best to reassure Kyra. "Please don't worry about it right now," he pleaded. "Andreas," Kyra looked at him like he was crazy. "We have to. I am beginning to show now and pretty soon I'll have to tell people something. So unless you can think of a good substitute, you'd better start talking," she said firmly, removing his hand and rolling over into a little ball. Andreas wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her shoulder. "We'll figure out something, Ky," he whispered. The two of them drifted into a soft doze, dreaming of their future.

Kyra entered Luke's later that day; she was meeting Athena for a quick supper. Kyra sat down at a table and glanced absentmindedly at the menu. "What can I getcha?" a voice drawled. Kyra glanced up to see Luke's face and inwardly cringed. Her ex-stepfather; Kyra had never gotten along with him. "Hello, Luke," Kyra said coolly. "An iced tea please. I'll order the rest when my companion arrives." Luke softened when he saw the circles under Kyra's eyes; maybe Laura was right and he should stop blaming the girls for something that wasn't their fault. "You look like you could use a nap," he said as he jotted down her order. "I'll be right back." Luke disappeared before Kyra could respond. Her face was filled with surprise at Luke's attempt at humanity. Before she had time to contemplate what he was up to, Athena arrived and plopped herself down across from Kyra. "Hey, hon. You don't look so good. Are you okay?" Athena asked with concern. "I haven't been sleeping to well lately," admitted Kyra. "Kyra," Athena admonished. "You have to sleep, the baby needs it." Neither of them noticed when a lone figure sat down at the bar not very far from them. The twins were too engrossed in their conversation. "...worried about what Helena will do when she finds out I'm pregnant," Kyra was telling Athena as he strained to listen to their conversation. Kyra was pregnant? Lucky tried to look invisible as he continued to sit at the bar, listening to his sister's conversation. "She knows I've been dating Andreas for two months; she'll know we were lying to her when she finds out I'm four months pregnant. Once she concludes that Andreas is the father she'll be livid." Athena looked at Kyra sympathetically, "I don't mean to hurt you, Ky, but I warned you of this when you told last August that you were seeing Andreas." Lucky couldn't believe his ears. Kyra had been dating Andreas since August? Helena certainly didn't know that, Lucky was sure. But Lucky was just as positive that his mother knew that. Deciding to slip out before his father saw him & blew his cover Lucky left quickly, his mind buzzing.

Back inside, Luke bringing Kyra her iced tea interrupted Kyra & Athena briefly. "Can I get anything for anyone else?" he offered. "An order of cheese fries," Kyra answered softly. "Same here, please," Athena smiled at Luke. "And a ginger ale." Luke winked at Athena. He had always gotten along well with her, even during his dislike of all three children. "Be right back, darlins'," Luke went to place the orders. Athena focused her attention on Kyra. "What do you suggest we do then, Ky? What plan is cooking in that mind of yours?" Athena could tell by the look on her sister's face that Kyra had some scheme in mind. "I tell everyone that the baby was conceived by a secret boyfriend before Andreas & I started dating. Andreas offers to pretend to be the baby's father & marry me to make the baby legitimate. We get married, everyone's happy," Kyra shrugged. Athena shook her head at her twin in wonder, "You know, I think you actually have something there." Kyra smiled at Athena, "Thank you, thank you." Luke returned with the cheese fries & Athena's drink and the girls chatted quietly about life and Kyra's plans. Once they were done eating they called Luke over. "Anything else, girls?" he grinned at them. Kyra met Athena's eyes; Luke was acting too nice. "Just the check, please, Luke," Athena said. "It's on the house this time, Athena," Luke waved his hand away. Athena looked as surprised as Kyra felt. "Thanks, Luke," Kyra responded. "But why?" Luke flushed red, "Can't a man do something nice without being questioned?" Athena stood up and met his eye, "We both thank you. And do excuse us if we eat & run, but we both have some errands to do. Take care." Luke nodded as Athena dragged Kyra out the door before she could get snarky or ruin Luke's wonderful behaviour.

Helena was sitting in the living room on the yacht when Lucky. She looked up with a smile when he entered the room. "Lucky!" she cried. "What a pleasant surprise!" Lucky rewarded Helena with a fake smile of his own, nodding his head at her. "Where is Andreas?" he asked. Helena's brow creased into a frown, "He's attending to some errands today, Lucky. Why?" Lucky walked closer to Helena and gave her a real smile this time. Lucky hated Helena but pretended to get along with her for exact moments like this one. "You look serious, Lucky," Helena observed as she glanced at his face. "Is there anything I can help you with?" "I just found out some news that I thought you might want to know," began Lucky. He smiled slowly, licking his lips in anticipation of Helena's reaction to what he was about to tell her. "I was at my father's club today and saw the twins there." Helena's smile widened at the mention of her granddaughters, but was puzzled as to why this would be of importance to her. "I overheard them talking. Did you know that Kyra is four months pregnant, Helena?" Helena's smile froze as her face paled. "She's what?" Helena gasped. Lucky smiled again, "Not only that; did you know Andreas is the baby's father?" Helena's eyes began to bulge, as she grew more and more livid. Lucky was now grinning, "I guess your boy-toy slipped out of bed, huh?" *WHACK* Helena's hand flew smack into Lucky's cheek with such force that he flew backwards and almost fell over the couch. "How dare you!" she hissed at him. "You insolent young man." Lucky pressed a hand against his burning cheek and glared angrily at Helena. "That's the thanks I get for bringing you up to speed?" he muttered as he turned towards the door. "That's the thanks you get when you make insolent comments," retorted Helena. "Are you absolutely positive this is true, Lucky? I assure you that if it is not, I will not take it as a joke," she threatened. "I've told you what I came to tell you; you decide what to do from here," Lucky left the boat grumbling to himself.

Helena was shaking with anger. She sat down on the couch, trying to calm down so she could figure out what to do next. Andreas & Kyra had lied to her, played her for a fool. Andreas had been seeing her granddaughter before his trip to see his 'sick' aunt. Helena would bet her life that Andreas had really been with Kyra during those six days. "Andreas must be punished," Helena muttered, a gleam in her eye. A smile littered her face, "But how?" The smile faded when she considered Kyra in all this. Her beloved granddaughter, the only Cassadine grandchild willing to accept her in her life. Could she really destroy that just for revenge? Didn't Helena want all three of her grandchildren, Stavros's children, to be happy? Helena let out a sigh and leaned her head back against the couch. No, Kyra had to be taught to respect her elders, Helena decided. A plan began to form in Helena's mind. An evil, devious plan that would teach Kyra & Andreas a lesson. Helena began to laugh; a low throaty laugh that would've sent chills through anyone who'd been listening.

Chapter Fifteen

Andreas was frantic as he called Kyra's cell phone. He had come back to the yacht just as Lucky was leaving. He looked smug as he smiled at Andreas. Suspicious, Andreas had hurried onto the yacht in time to hear Helena on the phone with someone. "Make sure you teach her a lesson but don't harm her," Helena was warning the person on the phone. "Not only is she pregnant but she is my granddaughter." Andreas's face had paled. He knew Athena wasn't pregnant which meant Helena was talking about Kyra. Somehow Lucky must've found out about her being pregnant and had told Helena. Andreas had left the yacht immediately knowing he had to reach Kyra before Helena did. After getting her answering machine again, Andreas swore out loud. Where would she be? All of a sudden Andreas knew and headed towards Athena & Jason's penthouse. He was sure Kyra would be there with her sister.

Kyra & Athena headed back to the penthouse. Athena had filled Kyra in on Nikolas's wish that they have a shower for Stephanie and decorate the nursery two months earlier and they had to work on their plans for the shower. Steph was seven months pregnant now and Nikolas didn't want to wait any longer for the shower. The girls had already completed the nursery and it had gone over well. Kyra had chosen pastels to paint the room with and Athena had chosen a light wood for the furniture. They had ordered a crib, change table, night table, rocking chair, chest of drawers and some shelves for the room. Kyra had chosen a Sesame Street theme for the room; Athena had bought all the practical necessities for the change table. They had bought some pictures, crib sheets & a comforter, stuffed animals, books and some lamps all with their theme. At the same time, Athena and Nikolas had surprised Kyra with a decorated nursery. It was very similar to Steph's except the theme was Kyra's favorite Walt Disney characters: Winnie-the-Pooh and his gang. Both Kyra & Steph had sobbed and gushed when they saw it. "You've been awfully quiet since we left Luke's," Athena's voice broke into Kyra's thoughts as they sat down in the kitchen, Startled, Kyra met Athena's eyes. "Sorry," she murmured. "I guess I'm just a little nervous still." A pounding at the door saved Kyra from any more conversation.

Whoever was there was frantic and Athena rushed to the door, afraid something was wrong. "Andreas!" she cried as he bounded into the room once the door opened. When he saw Kyra, he barreled over to her and wrapped her tightly in his arms. "Andreas, what's wrong?" Kyra was shocked at her husband's behaviour. He pulled away slightly, not letting her out of his arms. "Sorry, Athena," he apologized when Athena returned to the kitchen. "It's no problem, Andreas. But like Kyra, I'd like to know what's wrong," she responded. Reluctantly, Andreas released Kyra and they all sat down. Andreas gripped Kyra's hand and began, "I was out doing some errands and when I got back to the yacht, I saw Lucky leaving. He looked rather smug and I sensed there was trouble. So I headed onto the yacht to see what Madam was doing. She was on the phone with one of her henchmen planning to teach someone a lesson. She told this person not to harm the victim because not only is the victim pregnant, but she's," he paused for what seemed like an eternity to both girls. "Helena's granddaughter." A dead silence fell over the room as Andreas gave the twins a moment for his words to sink in. "Somehow Lucky found out about your being pregnant and told Helena, Kyra. Now she wants revenge, which means she must also know that I'm the father of your baby." Kyra was dangerously pale, Athena noted. She rose and went to ask one of the bodyguards to get Jason home. Athena returned to the quiet of the kitchen and sat down again. After a moment she let out a sigh, "Well, we need to decide what to do now." Kyra's gaze snapped over to her, settling on Athena's sleeve. "Kyra," Andreas said softly, noticing her unseeing eyes. "Please don't panic." He glanced over at Athena. "I'm afraid the fact that you are Kyra's identical twin puts you in danger as well. Since Kyra has yet to show, no one would be able to tell the difference between you unless they know you." Shock registered on Athena's face as his words hit home. Andreas began speaking again as soon as he noticed the growing panic on Athena's face. "Jason & I will figure out how to protect you both, don't worry," he pleaded with them.

A door closing sounded and a moment later Jason appeared in the doorway of the kitchen, looking breathless. When he saw the looks on all three of their faces, he sucked in a breath. As he sat down at the table, Andreas filled him in on the latest. "We'll take them out of town," Jason said grimly. "I have somewhere Helena will never find them." Andreas nodded, "Let's get them packed and we'll take them there tonight." Jason was surprised that Andreas was so willing but realized that he was doing it out of his love for Kyra. "Take Kyra to the cottage and have her pack two suitcases and meet us back here in two hours. Rick will accompany you," Jason advised Andreas, meaning Kyra's daily bodyguard. Kyra & Athena were still shocked so Andreas helped his wife up. "Come on, Ky," he pleaded gently. Still not saying anything, Kyra followed Andreas down to the car.

A lone tear slid down Kyra's cheek as they pulled away from the curb with Rick driving. Andreas reached over and pulled Kyra close to him. "Andreas," Kyra whispered. "My own grandmother wants to harm me? To possibly harm my baby?" Andreas could've slapped himself. Of course, that was why the girls were so quiet. Through everything Helena had done over the years, she'd always claimed that her grandchildren meant the world to her. No wonder Kyra was so scared and upset now. Knowing your own grandmother, who claimed to love you so intensely, planned on "teaching" you a lesson was very unsettling. "Baby," Andreas tipped Kyra's face to meet his eyes. "That's Helena's way of striking out when someone she loves hurts her. In her twisted mind, we hurt her. You hurt her and she wants you to hurt to. It's Helena's version of 'unconditional' love." Kyra shook her head, trying to understand. She touched Andreas's cheek, another thought occurring to her. "You need to come hide too," she said desperately. "Or Helena will try to get revenge on you. Andreas," she wailed, panicking more and more each second. Andreas pressed a reassuring finger to Kyra's lips. "Shhh, my love. Please don't worry. I'll be along shortly after," he lied. In truth, he'd be along after he & Jason completed their plan to kill Helena. They'd put if off for the last two months figuring that maybe Helena would get used to the idea of Kyra & Andreas and accept it. Neither Jason nor Andreas were murderers and didn't want to kill her unless she posed an unreasonable threat. Which she was now doing. The time had come; Andreas couldn't put it off any longer. As soon as he made sure the twins were safe, he & Jason would take care of Helena for good. Satisfied with his answer, Kyra leaned against him again and they rode the rest of the way to the cottage in silence.

Athena was packed in an hour and turned nervously to Jason, "I know that you'll keep us safe, Jase, but please you & Andreas safe too." Jason held Athena close for a long moment. "I promised you I would take care of you, Kyra, Andreas and the baby and I will, Athena," he said gently. "Just trust me." Athena nodded, "I'm going to call Aunt Lexi and tell her what's happening and that we're leaving town so she doesn't worry." "What about Stefan?" Jason asked. Athena frowned, remembering their last confrontation over Kyra. "I think I'll let Alexis handle telling him," she said sheepishly. Jason laughed and carried her suitcases downstairs. They were taking a car Jason never used so Helena wouldn't recognize it and have it followed.

Athena dialed Alexis's cell phone. "Alexis Davis," a bright voice came over the line. "Aunt Lexi, it's Athena," she said. "Athena!" It took Alexis less than as second to realize something was wrong. "Are you okay, hon?" Alexis was curled up on her couch reading some papers. She set the papers down to concentrate fully on her niece. "Before I tell you this you have to promise me that you will not let anyone try to handle this on their own. We have it worked out and I am only telling you because you're my family and you deserve to know," Athena said as quickly as she could. She didn't have much time. Concerned now, Alexis promised. "Lucky found out about Andreas & Kyra somehow and told Helena. Then Andreas overheard Helena plotting some revenge plan for Kyra. Kyra & I are leaving town tonight; Jason is going to hide us," Athena informed her aunt. Alexis gasped, "Oh, Athena. I knew this would get out of hand. It's like a bad movie." Athena smiled weakly but didn't answer. "How safe is this place that Jason's taking you to?" "Very safe, Aunt Lexi, or else Jason wouldn't bring us there. Can you tell Mom & Uncle Stefan for me?" Athena asked. "I don't have time to call them." "Of course honey. I'll make sure they don't try anything either," Alexis assured Athena. "Please be careful and send my love to Kyra." "I will, Aunt Lexi. We'll have our cell phones if you need us." "Okay. Talk to you soon, hon," Alexis said and then hung up. Athena replaced the receiver slowly, crossing her fingers that Alexis could take care of her mother & especially Stefan. The last thing Kyra or Athena needed was Stefan botching things up by overreacting and going after Helena. Athena sighed and turned out the light in the room. It was time to go.
