EPISODE SEVEN – Can’t Help Falling In Love
("Can’t Help Falling In Love", UB40).
Taylor was thoroughly enraged by this incident, couldn’t believe Isaac was accusing him of homosexual. It just wasn’t true. Though, Taylor had to admit he wasn’t just mad at his brother. He was mad at himself because he hadn’t been able to deny it, he’d just been so shocked and he’d let Isaac take those shots at him. He hated that.
He’d managed to cool down by taking a walk so he’d be sane by the time he got to the party Zac was attending, still, his nerves were raw, and he couldn’t get out of his head Isaac’s exact words.
Hey, at least I like a girl.
That was a direct hit, it had stung Taylor so much, Isaac had always been the only one in the world he could trust, and he thought Isaac could trust him with anything, if Taylor had been gay, then he would have admitted it to Isaac, just like he normally admitted everything else.
Taylor was let into the party by a half drunk teenager at the door, this guy was younger than him, and pissed out of his skull, staggered, Taylor had been surprised the guy hadn’t even asked who he was or what he was doing there, he was just let in without giving any explanation of why, and now he was looking for his little brother, through the mass of half drunk teenagers.
He spotted Zac by a threshold, talking to some tall brunette in a white dress, Zac was leaning close to her, like he wanted to kiss her, but the brunette looked like she was having none of it, Taylor inched closer to hear what Zac was saying, "your feet must be tired cos’ you’ve been running through my mind all day," he announced sweetly.
Taylor pursed his lips together to keep from laughing. Pick up lines? He thought to himself, Zac wouldn’t know what to do with the girl once he picked her up.
The brunette looked at Zac, "call me in a couple of years and a few more inches," she motioned to above his head, grinned, then walked away.
Zac pouted to himself, and Taylor walked over.
"Pick up lines?"
"They always work in the movies," Zac leaned against the wall, folding his arms stubbornly.
"What the hell are you trying to pick girls up for anyway?" Taylor asked.
"Just cos’, like, people say when you’re thirteen you’re supposed to start dating," Zac shrugged.
Taylor rolled his eyes, "Zac, I’m fifteen and you don’t see me dating, do you?"
"No, that’s cos you can’t find a guy to go out with you," Zac smirked.
"Don’t you mean a girl?"
"Not according to what everyone in the family says about you, no."
"The whole family is saying I’m gay?!" Taylor outburst, and a few heads turned, he blushed and hushed his voice, "are they?"
"Yeah…I mean, mom and dad asked Ike and me about it and Ike admitted he thought you were a little prissy sometimes, I mean, look, you got the fashion style, the layers in your hair, you have a lisp…"
"I do not! I am not gay!" Taylor hissed.
"Oh sure," Zac rolled his eyes, a girl was walking by and Zac tapped her on the arm, "Hey baby, your last name must be Gilette, cos you’re the best a man can get," he smiled gently, the girl turned her nose up at him and walked away.
"Hmmm," Taylor looked at Zac, "You have some problems with your pick up lines, and besides, half of these girls are too old for you."
"So?"
"So I—"
"I wish I was like that guy," Zachary interrupted, motioning to a guy with short blonde hair making out with some brunette in a corner.
To Taylor, it at first didn’t quite register as anything abnormal at this party, and he looked away, then his eyes flew back to the sight. It was Jon. Lauren’s boyfriend making out with some other girl.
Taylor looked away from them, his eyes squinting, I knew it, the moment I saw that guy I knew he was trouble, he thought at himself, he felt so much rage return. He couldn’t think what was going to happen when Lauren found out.
Then he came upon a realisation, he’d have to be the one to tell Lauren about this, or otherwise keep the truth from her, let her go thinking Jon was oh so perfect but the truth was that Jon was scum, and didn’t deserve Lauren.
He doesn’t deserve my Lauren, Taylor decided, then had to smirk at the way his thought and used the term my Lauren.
She is my Lauren, she’s my best friend now, and I gotta let her know that, Taylor stood there for a while just watching all that was going, he didn’t feel much like leaving yet, he had to figure out what to do first.
Before his thoughts could determine what was best, Jon surprised him yet again, by making out with some girl with really blonde hair. Taylor stared, this guy was a male slut. How could he do this to Lauren? And let Lauren think he cared. Lauren had told many stories about how Jon was sweet and seemed to love her. Taylor was pretty sure Lauren was in love with Jon, the way she spoke about him was enough to tell him.
Shit, this is baaaad, what am I gonna do? He wondered, he gave a long sigh and looked at Zac, "Its time to go."
"But it’s only ten!" Zac outburst.
"I don’t care, we’re leaving," Taylor stated, and he grabbed Zac’s arm and dragged him out of there, and all night he knew he had a difficult decision ahead of him. To tell Lauren or not to tell Lauren.
He wasn’t sure which decision to make right now, but he knew by tomorrow he’d have made it.
